DAVIE — The Dolphins want to keep free agent running back Jesse Chatman, his agent said today.

Although the Dolphins are in a state of flux, they apparently want Chatman to remain part of what could be a loaded backfield. Already under contract are Ronnie Brown and Ricky Williams. Samkon Gado is a restricted free agent. "We've only had the most basic of discussions, but I can say they have been positive discussions," said Chatman's agent, Brett Tessler.

That was before Mueller was gone with Ireland in I doubt that he will be back unless Ricky is a gonner.

    Brett Tessler is his agent?

I remember the guy had a thread of his own for questions and stuff in Finheaven. Anyway, I'm not sure what to think about this, I really like Chatman but I would also like to see Ricky back, I'm not really sure we'll keep both.

Does anybody know what Ricky's contract status actually is? How many years does he have left and at what price?

I think Lorenzo Booker is just as good, if not better than Chatman....not a big loss if he decides to go elsewhere.

He has one year remaining. I'm not positive about his salary but i'm pretty sure it's around $700k.

If Chatman is re-signed, I see no point in keeping Ricky around. Trading him for a low pick or just releasing him would be fine with me.

I wouldnt mind having Chatman back as a backup. He's proven himself to be a more than capable one.

I'd rather like to see L. Booker get more playing time. He was great in the limited time we saw him. He's a little back, but he sure as hell knows how to make up for it with his elusiveness.

  13. I like Chatman and I think he was one of the few bright spots of this horrible season we had to endure. I thought he played better then Booker too. I would keep him over Booker if I had a choice.

Chatman and Booker are to totally different runners. I don't think Booker could be an every down back yet, but he sure is electric when he touches the ball and he can catch. Chatman is a good all around back gives you everything he has, but can't catch to well.

I read that he will still have a full two years left here because the league did not consider 6 reps should enforce all four games against the contract.

Honestly regardless of how good Ricky can play I do not think Bill will keep Ricky around.
Too many chances, to many failures. If they can get something for him they will this offseason.

I'd bring Chatman back as the direct backup to Ronnie.

However, the sub would be Lorenzo Booker. Chatman would get 2-4 carries a game at most and be the replacement for Ronnie if he were to get hurt again.

Ronnie/Booker should get 99% of the carries. Those 2 with an improved OL could be incredibly scary. Ronnie proved how valuable he was to the OL as they went downhill soon after he was out.

What could happen now is that Reagan could be the odd man out in favor of getting Ronnie and Booker into the backfield.

Booker can not be a full time runner, he needs plays set up for him. He needs to add some weight, other wise he may get killed. Chatman is our back up to Ronnie. Have to also see what happens with the number one pick.

Yeah, last week and this week he had to come off the field limping nothing serious but that shows you he can't be an every down back unless he gets bigger which I don't want because he will lose some speed and elusiveness.

I think he is still hurt, he has been trying to get into games with a bum ankle and Cam may have gave in. Is it just me or does he look he put weight on?
