I don't care if Noah develops into a good CB eventually (I really don't think he will) he still should not have been picked in the first round when we could have had several other players who are playing at a pro bowl level right now instead of picking him.

Saying that nobody can predict who is going to be good or great is just a cheap copout. That's what GMs get paid millions to do. If not let's just start pulling names out of a hat or leave it up to a fan vote.

What was your opinion of Jaelen Phillips before his recent tear? I heard plenty of rumblings that Grier missed on him, if not from you. Hindsight by fans is always 20/20 and we always think our opinions are validated when things shake out the way we predicted, but have short memories when we get things completely wrong. You're entitled to your opinion but don't fool yourself into thinking it's more objective than subjective. None of us are wired that way.

I loved the Phillips pick, and I said so on here when we drafted him. My only concern was his injury history, but he was the best edge rusher in the draft. It was actually a steal considering where we drafted him so no gripes with that pick from me, and Jaylen Phillips was never considered a developmental project player like Jackson and Iggy were.

Cieling predictions with developmental players are subjective, but performance and production against top competition is not. Phillips actually performed and produced consistently against top competition, so you knew what you were getting.

You miss my point, though. I'm not talking about draft night when I ask your opinion of him. He was getting pressures for his first few games as a Dolphin but only had one sack until the floodgates opened for him. On Twitter and FB, there was no shortage of fans who thought he should have been playing better (even though his pressure rate was through the roof for a rookie). I'm sure there are many of them who conveniently forget how they "knew he wasn't going to be good" until he actually was.

To be sure: I'm not talking about you. I just wonder if you had doubts about him for the first half of the season.

You actually said he was a high risk injury prone player and that you wanted Paye instead.

Yes, I would have preferred Paye because of Phillips' concussions and high injury risk, but I thought Phillips was a great pass rusher.

My only doubts about Phillips were due to his injury history. In terms of his talent as a pass rusher I never had any doubts.

Only two days remain before the great reveal of changes made to our OL. I'm excited. Or was this bye week wasted with the likely vain hope of "believing in our guys".

The offensive line is complicated. We're in no man's land. Grier and Flores have no one to blame but themselves. We lost our previous franchise QB because his knee was nuked, after 6 years of getting his *** beat. Rebuilding the line should of been priority #2, after finding our next/future franchise QB. Which turned out to be a smaller and fragile QB... The solution of drafting developmental lineman, was a gamble. Now we're in the position of having spent a bunch of draft capital, without satisfactory short term results, in too soon of a time to tell if the gamble will pay off in the long term. Either we cut bait and guarantee we've wasted those picks, or we stay put and hope for the best, which could still result in wasted picks and the firing of Flo and Grier.

You draft Austin Jackson to be a plug and play starter, knowing he's a project. A physical specimen w/o experience and technique. Given his raw physical prowess, I understand the temptation to draft him, but the short term results were never going to be satisfactory and long term results not guaranteed. Are we really going to just cut a 22 year old player because he didn't live up to expectations that were unfair to begin with? At 22, most players are coming into the league at his age... And we're just done with him? By all accounts, AJ is a hard worker w/physical gifts. As bad as he's been, I can't accept the idea that it's OK to just throw him away. Sunken cost fallacy? Maybe... probably... I don't know. Ideally, he should serve as the 6th offensive lineman for the time being. Keep him on the roster and keep trying to develop him. He's the new Jesse Davis. Theoretically, he has the athleticism and stature to play either T/G spot. The floor is low, but unlike Davis, the ceiling is high should the lights go on. Even if develops into an average to above average starter at some spot on the line, I'll take it.

Keep Dieter, Hunt, and Liam. Hunt is the most promising, obviously. Hope for continued improvement for the other two. Kick Liam inside to LG and see what happens? FA class for LG doesn't look promising. Deiter won't kill you at C, . which means we need two tackles in FA, at minimum. 31 year old (and possibly declining) Armstead is likely the best of the terrible options. It's such a Miami move to give him a bucket of cash. It's happening, obviously. Our draft picks are useless. Miami is going to be drafting too late to get a quality lineman, capable of starting (and really, another 22 year old on the line might not be the best idea anyway...) or we don't have picks because we traded for Watson. Unless Watson is suspended, I fully believe Miami will sell the house for him, good idea or not. Make no mistake, Grier and Flo are going full on Jeff Ireland in 2022. Are there any quality RT's available in FA? At first glance, it doesn't seem like it. Maybe a serviceable guy is released at the start of the next off-season or someone with an injury history a team doesn't want to pay, and we roll the dice.

Armsteadt, Eichenberg/FA, Deiter, Hunt, FA - TBD at RT. Austin Jackson as the 6th man. That's likely the best of the bad options for Grier and Flo to save their jobs. This isn't necessarily what I want, but I can't see another path forward given the corner Grier and Flo painted themselves into. Signing a vet talent like Armstead and co. to their final contracts, while keeping the youth to develop as their future replacements. Best of both worlds, or a doomed half measure? Time will tell.

I liked the selection of Jackson at the time, but who I really wanted was Tristan Wirfs, who's become a dominant player very quickly for the Bucs. Imagine if we'd traded up for Wirfs instead? (It would have likely cost our 3rd round pick to move up from #18). He alone couldn't solve every issue, but our offense might have operated on a different level the last two seasons.

    1) Hire a competent, experienced OL coach.
    2) Target 1-2 high end guys at the start of free agency. Whether it's Terron Armstead, Duane Brown, Brandon Scherff, maaaaaaybe an Eric Fisher I don't care. Sign at least one, then sign another guy in a mid-range contract.
    3) If you took a high end G in free agency, draft the best plug and play tackle. If you grab a T in free agency (the preferred solution), draft the best plug and play G/C.

LMAO, ya think? Generally your first 5 moves in pass blocking aren't backwards, backwards, backwards, on your butt, say a prayer for your QB.

He did look better yesterday and I think his main problem is leverage in his first couple of steps. I'm still not calling him a bust but he has a very long way to go yet.

A good offensive line coach could certainly help.

I remember when Paul Soliai was drafted. His first year, he wasn't good. The following year, under a new defensive line coach, he turned out to be dang good.

That’s my thought too, but the line improved and if things keep improving and we don’t fizzle, like last year, maybe we shouldn’t change to much, unless we can get someone who has a proven record and is an real upgrade.

I really think we need to move Liam back to RT, move Davis to LG or upgrade and then find a legitimate LT.

Austin Jackson has shown great improvement at guard.

Of course, his beginning was one of the worst ever.

Watching The Replacements on TV and I noticed they have a left guard that wears number 73 and is named A. Jackson. No point to this post, I just found it funny.
