the first thing parcells should do is solidify the offensive- line, so at least the offense can protect whoever the QB is next year, that way we at least have a fighting chance on offense. i think the o- line improved a lot in the run game, but we need to upgrade the pass game . the game is won and lost in the trenches, an we need help in both the d-line and o-line first and formost.

Maybe Faneca in free aganecy. Hes a Parcells type but I dont know if we're going to want to spend the money. OT is a huge need and maybe we can get one with our first 2nd rd pick. Its possible if the juniors come out we could get a 1st round talent weith that pi9ck

We definitely need some help. Carey and Satele are locks and I would be Hadnot back as he is solid and a team leader on the line. We definitely need to lose Shelton and another guard. Faneca anyone?

I think we are ok at O-line....I would not draft any lineman this year, and would focus on the D, but if we could bring in Faneca, the Steelers Guard, that would be sweet.

The name of Flozell Adams has been mentioned, he could be a possibility. I'd like to see Heath Benedict drafted at some point, could he be Hadnot's replacement with his size, speed and versatility?

But does it make sense to spend a ton of $$$ when we are supposed to be rebuilding? I'm not so sure. Spending big bucks would leave me to believe that we are retooling and not rebuilding the right way.

I think Flozell Adams is very likely to come here now that Parcells is here and Ireland will be following according to Jay Glazer.

    In the draft war room
Carey needs to be moved to right tackle or guard. He is simply not fleet footed enought to play left tackle in the NFL unless he loses at least 30 pounds!!

If he does then we dont need to draft one until the 2nd day. Youre right that he's a good bet to come here. Forgot about him

that's a pretty good point, at the least it will give us some leeway on when we "have" to address it, before all the talent is gone.

We need to sign Max Starks. He's a massive tackle with some quick feet. Only 25 years old and would be an instant upgrade over Shelton. We need to draft a guard. Theres also hope that guys like Toledo and Mormino can grab a starting spot if they can stay healthy. I'd like to retain Hadnot but I have a feeling his asking price will be too high.

My brother and father are both huge Steelers fans (I got the brains from my mom ;) ) and they say that Starks is a younger version of LJ Shelton, an underachiever that will drive you nuts because he does have the talent. So no thanks.

You do bring up a good point on Mormino though, I think alot of people forget that he will be in the mix next year.

I just don’t know about that being the first thing, like as in take Jake Long, or trade down for more picks and get the best player to try to lock down Moss twice each year. I think Parcels will draft to beat the Patriots. I think the big bodies can be found later. More picks would really help build this team fast. Cast that Tuna net! Should be fun!

If they decide Carey isn't going to cut it as a LT I wouldnt mind going after Travelle Wharton LT from Carolina and he's still young. If Carey can stay at LT I would like them to go after Carolina's RT Jordan Gross.

Not sure I agree about Carey being unable to play the left tackle position. He's given up just 3 sacks in his first full year at left tackle. That's just one every three games, which is pretty damn impressive for a guy just getting used to the position.

Also, Ronnie Brown was averaging roughly 5.5 yards per carry running to the left side, behind Carey.

Carey's weakness this year was false starts. He had 7 of them. Fortunately, he had just 3 in his prior three seasons, so I think that this was a bit of an anomaly.

I think this is just another example of perception not matching reality. Carey had a very solid season and left tackle, so if anything, Miami should look to secure a right tackle, either via the draft or in free agency.

Also, for whatever it's worth, I think that the defensive line is actually in worse shape than the offensive line. That should be the top trench priority.

Parcells will draft his type character guys....I do not think a guy that left UT and cried about not getting chances..... to play for a school with no competition is a Parcells type guy...I could be wrong but Heath Benedict would scare me, a guy that could not hack competition or sitting while learning and dominates lesser competition (how will he react in the NFL while sitting and playing against guys that are as good as he is?)...

I would rather take a chance on a size guy that is hurt like a Tony Hills or a round 2-3 size guy like Loadholt or Robinson........

And if we think long term about Vern Carey, he will be a Fa in 09, he played "well" as a LT, he will seek and receive a large contract from whomever, either "us" or "them" , if we take a LT prospect high in the draft, we can play them at RT, and hedge our Carey bet for 09.

This way if Carey leaves, we aren't stuck like Chuck.

Agree with you and your father.....Starks is soft. He really does not fit the Steeler mold. He reminds me of a tuba player at Lake Highland Prep, a small HS in Oviedo, Florida...oh wait he was.......
