League average has actually gone down tremendously lately. It's actually a bit abnormal. It's now at 90.8. So technically Tua's rating was a tiny bit above average. Tua didn't play great but he wasn't terrible or anything.

Back when the league average was around 92.5 I said Tua needed to show he was at least slightly above average in year 2, so I put that threshold at 95 rating. With the league average at 90.8 now you can knock off 1.5 points from that threshold, and Tua's 94 fits right in.

Yeah.. I changed my tune immediately after the Ravens game as you can go back and see. Basically said that totally changes the math because it was so unexpected and that we had a real shot at 7-7 because of weaker opponents.

Well it doesn't matter what we predicted. It's hard to get stuff right in the NFL, and the best algorithms only get about 67% right anyway. But this is fantastic that we're talking playoffs in late December!

For the second year in a row. Let's see if the coaching staff and team leaders learned anything from the week 17 debacle in Orchard Park last year. I have to believe that they're going to have the season's best two weeks of practice coming up. I know we're playing loose and I love it. But it's time to get to work.

Yup, I remember- I was actually surprised how quickly you flipped. But it was obvious for anyone to see that day, Miami was playing a different brand of football and there was almost a cockiness to what they were doing. They really haven't lost that chip since.

Tua is doing what he needed to do in order to be an NFL caliber starting QB. He's taking what the defense gives him, running when he has to and trying to take care of the ball. I still want to see what he's capable of if he has a decent O-line (though I'm not sure our front office is capable of getting him one) and another high-talent WR or TE. I also want to see if he can stay healthy a whole season.

That was an interesting game. The body language of the offense changed completely when Tua came on the field. The defense was already crunking the Ravens' offense. But when Tua replaced Brissett, it seemed like the offensive personnel were inspired to play better. They're having fun now and it sure didn't seem as if that was part of the team's chemistry before that.

    Interesting breakdown by Peyton Manning:

Folks don't realize how subtle things like a glance can buy 2-3 feet for a receiver.

    Right?!

And yet all those Tuanigamanuolepola fans don't even realise the team is covering for his weaknesses.

    He's not even left-handed.

Not the problem, not the answer either. He *should* outshine our former QB tomorrow.

The only thing that needs to be said to the Tua fanboys. Until he can stretch this field, and throw on target beyond 15-20 yds (minimum) at a relatively consistent clip. You can shart out all the other random stats that you'd like. QBs that cannot stretch the field will never be known as "The Franchise" for Miami or any other team.

They did a great job setting up a scheme that works for him. And still yet, boy still maintains he cannot lead.

Lest we forget, we shoulda been outta there against the Jests part 2. Even the sports media recognizes that it is the Defense that is carrying this team. Dolfans are so desperate for a long-term answer, most of them will crown anyone. Just like Tannehill, even remember the nut hugging of bums like Chad Henne. There will always be fans who can't deal with reality. Even when that reality comes to fruition finally (like Tannehole,) the behavioral pattern will continue. Why? The aforementioned "Desperation."

Only a fool would crown Tua to even come close to filling the shoes of Marino(at this point in time.)

May as well continue my theme of alternate thread titles: "Tua is not the problem; Neither is he the long-term answer."

With that said it is not "impossible" for a really good QB coach to to drill Tua all offseason, to improve arm strength, accuracy, grip. And that's exactly what I expect to happen. If he acquires that I will concede that he's "The Franchise." But until that time, I will not crown him. Not ready to give up on him yet neither.

This used to be the place for more intelligible Dolfans. The naivety belongs to that other message board. What has happened!?

Nobody is crowning him the next Marino. You shouldn't need to create strawmen in a desperate attempt to be "right"

Id bet a lot of posters on here think he really is the next coming of Joe Montana. Hopefully he manages the next two games well enough for us to win

The best you see is some saying he could be a Brees type if the stars align but for the most part people pointing out there are positives with Tua this year in a terrible situation doesn't mean those people think he is going straight to the hall of fame.

There are people here that can't wait for him to be bad or for the team to lose so they can say "I told you so".

I'm open to a friendlier sounding "term," if you'd like to suggest one, with people constantly touting him as the next coming of *insert legend*

To simply suggest he hasn't proven that yet, is to get pounced on here.

This being my thread I'll point out the point of it. Put any QB you like in Miami this year, they still won't do well. The main problem in Miami isn't Tua because the main problem Miami isn't the QB position. Could we do better at QB? Sure. But we're not a QB away from contention.

If you don't see that then you've got QB tunnel vision and can see nothing outside of that position.

Terrible franchises deserve miserable fans. But hey, is it just me or do the Tua FAN BOYS have more Salt than a margarita? I guess it's to be expected, as those of us who already knew what he was expected (not wanted) this to happen. The distinction they can't seem to grasp. Oh well.

It's because the fanboys don't know football. They don't watch college football and hear a name and latch on. Watching Tua in college, I knew he wasnt going to be a good pro. The fan boys need to get better educated
