I'm still halfway expecting for us to interview 4 or 5 candidates, we offer the job to all of them, they all decline and we hire Brian Flores as our head coach (at twice his previous pay). I know that sounds dumb....but welcome to Miami.
We will probably Find that out once the Dolphins hire a coach! I’m actually kind of scared that might happen
https://www.espn.com/nfl/story/_/id...lo-bills-executive-joe-schoen-general-manager Bills Assistant GM Joe Schoen has been hired for the vacant GM spot in the NYG organization. Reports are that he will have complete control and autonomy over the roster and in hiring a head coach. The obvious connection would be Daboll to the Giants, but they are still apparently also requesting interviews with Flores (a Brooklyn native) and Dan Quinn and possibly others. Minor Dolphins fact, Schoen was our director of player personnel during the Parcells era.
A country band waiting to happen. Josh would be learning on the job, but I see potential for his second hire.
Caldwell turned down requests from the Vikings and Raiders after interviewing with the Bears and Jaguars.
Raiders fired defensive coordinator Wink Martindale. He'd probably love to get his hands on our defensive pieces.
Why would Daboll want to compete with Josh Allen year-after-year by coming to Miami? Same deal with taking the job in Denver or Las Vegas -why try and get past Mahomes every year? The NFC East is wide open, the Cowboys are paper tigers, you just need to find a QB or maybe Daboll thinks he can salvage Danny Jones? As a coach, you have to think about winning your division first, and if one team dominates it, you might need to look elsewhere. A lesser coach will take ANY opening though, just being glad to have the job.
For the sake of conversation, Daboll would be able to provide the defense all of Allen’s weaknesses and coach to that in games against the Bills.
Interesting in how the 'big names' touted everywhere haven't gone yet, and two teams have opted for candidates previously unmentioned. They could be horrible moves, but so much for the media's ability to tell us who's favoured. EDIT: "remains fluid" - AKA 'don't quote me on that'.
Fits that narrative. Green Bay could get a couple first rounders, a second, and a player or two in a trade with Denver.
Exactly. No one in sports media called either of the two hirings so far - most of these people and their “insider sources” don’t know jack.
While I agree with the spirit of the message here - that the media doesn't really know jack - I don't think either of these hirings are a surprise. If I was the Pack, I'd start at 2 first rounders, 2 second rounders, some change and Jerry Jeudy personally. I'm making the assumption that if Rogers goes, Adams follows.
I can't help be curious if Miami wouldn't try to work into that sweepstakes. Mortgage the future, shore up the OL in free agency, and have a SB contender next year. I'd be all for it.
No reason not to at least explore the idea, and we make more sense (to Rogers) than a lot of teams. But reports are that Green Bay may have promised to let him pick a destination, and it's not for nothing that the Broncos hired Hackett. The team I'd watch out for though? The Eagles. TONS of draft capital, a good team in place and a weak division. It would take some serious cap maneuvering, but the Titans make a ton of sense too. One thing I'd try if I was Green Bay and I wasn't sold on Love, is flip assets gained in the Rogers deal to try and snag Wilson out Seattle. Green Bay with Wilson is a Super Bowl threat.
I saw that tweet. I think it is very illogical. There are a lot of people who worked with Flores. There were coaches, players, media, and front office workers. There are like 5 to maybe 10 people who are part of the HC search.
What about the leaks regarding Watson probably wouldn't be many involved in that either. I think it's likely to some extent that the dolphins (or in this case, possibly other teams) leak info when it's convenient to their cause.
Yea, like Watson and Watson's agent. Both who do not work for the Dolphins. Most of the tweets I saw was from Houston media.
Yah, I just posted it for consideration and maybe discussion. I don't agree with a lot of the tweets and Reddit posts I post here, but if I find them provocative or interesting, I drop them. Y'all know where I stand on the Tua discussion (I think) and I still post things that may be contrary (stats that may look bad for him, quotes that might be negative toward him) if I think it can further debate. I'm nothing if not somewhere right down the middle when it comes to discourse. And although I didn't think that guy had a point, I did feel there are probably a lot of my fellow babies in Dolphins Nation who might agree with him.
