So I think, barring a miracle, Tua will be back in 2022. All I know is I do not want a HC brought in for Tua. I want a HC brought in for the Dolphins. I think Tua's limitations are clear.

My first statement would be that, if Tua is to be the starter in 2022, we get out of the overuse of the RPO offense and let him sink or swim on his own merits. Let it be known, I truly hope he works on what limited him in 2021, and that he can fix these crucial issues to being a franchise QB.

I have zero hope in him and this organization.
**** Stephen Ross!He is the reason we have Tua because of a half and not even a full game in a national championship game a year before we drafted.him and now we are stuck!.
All these draft picks don't mean **** if you pick the wrong QB!

Yes, the sooner we figure out Tua is not the answer, the better. Flores figured that out pretty quickly. It will save us 3-4 more years of heartache trying to make Tua into a franchise QB. It's the same trap we fell into with Tannehill by hiring Gase to try and make him something he's not. If a QB has not shown his greatness with his first 2 years playing, he will usually not work out. I am also hoping the urge to get a "good coach for Tia" doesn't **** up our coaching search, but it seems like that is exactly what's happening. We are not going after the best coaches out there, instead we are looking for inexperienced yes men who are willing to work with Tia and be subordinate to Grier.

Haha I feel ya Pump (that didn't sound good,) some days I feel so depressed about this team and it's management I want to put gun to head. Other days, I'm staying as positive as humanly possible, I guess it's a coping strategy to keep from going insane.

Although management **** the bed, and has it coming out both ends, the verbal diarrhea , I'd still like to stay out of the basement with the Jets. If we can manage to stay afloat until this assclown owner sells or kicks the bucket, it's better than building from the Jests Up, naw'Im'sayin?

Thank you sir, I feel it was the appropriate choice for our new (West Germany :az:) Forum. Love seeing the old-schoolers from FH still posting strong btw Dundee.

Are Tua fans not allowed to post in this thread? I just figured since tua doubters were not allowed to post in another thread about Tua that thats how it works here now.

Right, No Tua supporters. This is SPARTA!

No but in all seriousness. The whole point in me making this thread in "Other NFL" section, was not to rock Galant's, quite fragile, apple cart, so maybe he can better answer your question.

I'm not anti Tua, but I am anti RPO. I want to see what Tua can do for a year with better coaching, in a better offense, with a better line, a better run game, and more receiving targets. If that works, then awesome. If not, then we have better surroundings for a different qb in 2023.

Also, enough with the Nazi references please. The mods on here volunteer their time and do their best to help the forums run as smoothly as possible for everyone involved as per the TOS. Insulting people is explicitly against those TOS. If you have a grievance with a mod, raise it with an admin, don't go around insulting people.

All I can hope for at this point is Grier hits on another draft, we hire the right coach and Tua proves us wrong. If we’re right about Tua, then we’ve wasted 3-4 years and a top 5 pick.

Grier has a treasure trove of FA capital and I expect him to finally fix our OL. As skeptical as I am about Tua and his ability to stay healthy, we have to give him a chance by protecting him. Not to mention being able to block him so he doesn’t miss 5 games again causing us to miss the playoffs.

I was hoping we’d draft Tyler Linderbaum but SF has played us out of any shot at him. I’d be happy if Grier traded back to the 2nd round for an additional 2nd rounder where I have more confidence in his draft ability. Then in FA, we need to aggressively pursue the best LT so we can move Liam to RT, move Davis to LG and get Jackson out of there.

I also think we need an upgrade at LB.

TBH, I’ve lowered my expectations so low again that I’m not really expecting anything in terms of playoffs or a winning record. We’re going to be hiring another coordinator with no HC experience. By the time he maybe starts figuring it out, our “brain trust” will find some reason to move on.

I have no hope that Grier will be able to fix the OL...or bring in sustainable contributable talent. Grier's been with the organization for what, 14 years now? Sure, he's had the one or two "hits" in the draft or free agency, but it's been far from a Bill Polian consistency that's propelled the Dolphins to next level.

We've had no proven head coaches...or any coach with NFL head coaching experience since Wannstedt for that matter, risky picks in the draft and free agent signings that are more often busts than gold mines.

Until the front office is completely changed, I have ZERO confidence in this team's future.

That was me trying to be optimistic for once. I don’t really believe that. And I think Wannstedt is one of the worst coaches we’ve had. He took an elite defense with 2 HoF level players(Thomas has been robbed) and 2 all decade type CB’s and wasted it.

AFC is loaded with 4 young Stud QBs.
We need to convince the NFL to transfer us to the NFC where we would have a chance especially if Rodgers and Brady retire.
Joking aside I don't what this team is gonna do to compete with the Bills.

You do the best that you can to win as many games as possible, and then hope for a favorable path once you get into the playoffs. Maybe someone else knocks off Buffalo or KC. Maybe one of the other QBs gets injured. You never know. Three of the last four Super Bowls have featured a team without an elite QB.

Oh I agree Wannstedt was worthless but the point I was making is he was the LAST head coach we had with head coaching experience. Every head coach we've had since him, save Flores has been just as good. Saban MAY have been successful had the team given him what he asked for in Drew Brees. I know we were all furious with Saban for leaving and how he did it, but with how screwed up this team is, can anyone truly blame him?

Bottom line...we're going to suck for the long-term foreseeable future.

That's what the last 20 years have shown. I don't expect them to pick a good coach and even if we get a Pederson, Harbaugh or a McDaniel, they'll probably find a way to screw that up too.

I think you are right, but this is a paradox.

The front office has decided that Tua is best for the Dolphins, so hiring a coach that is best for the Dolphins would be hiring a coach that is best for Tua.

I really think that having conviction is more than just "coach speak."

This is not exclusively a Dolphins' problem. I really find that teams that lack true conviction turn into the biggest disasters.

In 2019, the Falcons elected to bring back Dan Quinn for the 2020 season despite their lack of conviction. So, in the offseason, they clearly allowed Quinn to be a voice in draft and free agent acquisitions as they continued to follow his vision. Fast-forward to 2020 in which the Falcons go 0-5 and Quinn is let go early on in the season. These are the worst situations because the year is essentially lost, the players you acquired in the offseason may or may not fit with a new coach. Now do you hire a coach with a similar vision when you know that the current vision led to the firing of your former coach? It just creates a mess.

I think the same holds true for QBs. Should you really go into the offseason and get players for a QB that you don't have conviction for. In many ways, this feels like a poker game. Do you have already put chips into the pot? Should you be putting more chips into the pot when you are not sure? The deeper you go into the hand, the more expensive it becomes. Folding hurts, but it is an option.

I was thinking about this the other day. Just imagine if they had moved the Phins to the weak AFC South like they were proposing during that last realignment. There would've been 10 or so division championships added to the trophy case, multiple playoff appearances. This 20 year slide would potentially not exist, and it wouldve been a hell of lot easier to get better talent and coaching to come to MIA.

And that will continue because the NFC will no longer have any elite QBs.
Sadly for us we play in a division with one that already owns us.It could be worse like playing in the west.

Allen will eventually break down physically, and his sandlot hero ball style won't be as effective.

He might lose some mobility with age, but his arm will always be there, and he will gain experience to be able to work more from the pocket as he ages. So no, I would not count on that.

We just need to get ourselves our own franchise QB and build a super defense.

He couldn't really understand Chan Gailey's spread concept offense. He admitted this.

Flo gets a lot of flack for hiring inexperience but really it didn't matter. They did a terrific job of building a scheme and coaches (Frye) around Tua's strengths. These are just the limitations of RPO and completely non-mobile small QB in the NFL.

Anything they do for Tua now would only be beneficial for an eventual QB they theoretically draft next year. Tua or not the offense needs plenty of help.

And sure folding is fine but even if replacing Tua is the no doubt about it plan that still wouldn't mean having him being the starting the next year isn't for the best in the long run.

Even moreso when you consider they moved Indy to the AFCS. But I've beat on that drum quite a bit over the years. Only answer I ever get is, "Was to preserve rivalries." Well, that's not really something you should consider in a professional league rearranging divisions geographically. Especially when it is pretty easy to forge new rivalries.. but you have the actually be a threat, But it is what it is.

If we had drafted the correct choice QB, I think the Dolphins would be banging it out with the Bills (assuming they can address the rest of the holes on this team) for the next decade or two.

Our moron management esentially put us back in the basement instead of back on top, and the weasel most responsible for it all still has a job, that's what gets my goat more than anything. I will not let up on Grier, I do not care if he has a sensational 2022 draft by some miracle. You don't take that shot and miss at #5 overall and still have a job, especially when his entire career track record his pretty bleak.
