At the time the word going around was that Minkah didn't want to waste his talent in a tank and rebuild and asked for a trade.

I'm going to go ahead and pencil in Bienemy as Dolphins next HC. Lets be honest they really want to try and make Tua, Mahomes-ultra light. He's black, which I personally don't care about, but social stigma suggests firing a successful black HC in Flores, you damn well better replace with one.

It's a better choice than Vance Joseph, no question.

I refuse to believe Ross is capable of doing anything remotely competent.

If he lands harbaugh that’s competent enough for me.

Here come the Harbaugh reports again. I'm believing them more suddenly. Hey, if he demands Grier be fired before he comes here, I'll be an insta-fan.

My assumption is if harbaugh comes he’s got roster control 110%. Grier is just here to finalize contracts. Harbaugh would likely have full control.
Now if Ross actually thought it out this way ahead of time maybe he is smarter than we all thought. But I find that hard to believe

Three years ago, I would have said you're out of your mind- a win is a win. But today, yeah, Flores ultimately messed up the script and took a bunch of nobodies onto win 5 games. Here's the thing though- let's say we only win 2 or 3 and we're picking #2 overall. They'd still take Tua at that point. So the only way we get Burrow is winning nothing or 1 game total (or maybe we had the tie-breaker if we won 2, not sure).

I don't regret it but man, watching Burrow is inspiring. That team will be set for the next decade and they'll only get better- Burrow's reign is just beginning. I really, really hope they win it all.

IF Ross manages to pull that off than I will be lightly impressed. I wonder how much it will cost him and I would be so happy because he would demand control of the roster and that makes Grier a yes man to the coach for once!!

Dude with Josh Rosen in there we would have been 0-16.That was by far the worst roster in football.Fitz won those games. And If you remember I was pissed because I wanted Burrow.

Makes me realize we’re never making the super bowl with Burrow, Allen or Mahomes in the AFC until we find a franchise QB. Really tough watching the Bengals rise from mediocrity to greatness meanwhile we’ve got 2 idiots running our organization and will be hiring our 8th coach in 20 years.

Keep in mind Miami got one of those wins vs Cincy which they certainly wouldn't have done with Rosen

I was on the Burrow bandwagon about the 3rd college game of the season- it was plainly obvious that early on that he had evolved into something special. I watched every LSU game that year and I'm not an LSU fan...he just befuddled me with his poise and accuracy that year. I've never seen another college QB look that NFL-ready.

I know you did man.Thats why I did not understand why you were happy with winning those pointless games. We have been winninig pointless games for years and I am sick of it.
The whole point of that season was to get the number 1 pick.Sometimes you have to take a step back to go 2 forward. Now we just have the same ****ty team we have had for the last 20 years.Tua will never take us to the superbowl!

The average NFL career is so short- the average player is in the league just over two years. So to ask a team to intentionally tank with almost 100% rookies and unsigned free agents, the vast majority of that roster was going to be out of the league after just that one season. And that sucks for them, not getting a fair shot at their lifelong dream. I mean, yeah, they got a shot to prove something like Needham, but the vast majority have already been forgotten.

But I feel the same way for the veterans- X only has a few years left on those legs. He's one of the best of the best, and a dude like that deserves to be on a team headed in the right direction. I get what you're saying, go 1-15 and then maybe we have Cincinnati's dream a season or two later. It's just hard for me to root for that or accept a "throwaway year" in professional sports. It's not fair to the players at all.

I remember that year a lot of people said Minkah was selfish. Do you feel that way? I completely understood why he'd want out and it was probably the smart move for his career.

The players they had were not good enough to win..
No Fitz no wins.Rosen was that bad .
Maybe they should have never signed Fitz
All I know is we are in actually the same place we were 4 years ago.No QB no future!

Yup. He was an nfl star when he was still in college; it was that obvious. He can make any throw. Anytime. On the money.

hell he’s turned zac Taylor into what appears to be a competent coach now too! Sure it’s possible Taylor had improved on his own too but man they’ve built something special even around Burrow who was already special. Yet here we sit with no coach. Chris Grier. And Stephen Ross.
    :pity:

If Harbaugh comes on, it shouldn't be a big surprise to any of us. You don't fire a coach that has had back to back winning records unless you have a better replacement already in place. I can guarantee that Ross and Harbaugh had a few off the record conversations and possibly even agreed over a few drinks that this would happen. Call it tampering if you want, but if we do hire him, I'm willing to bet that fate had already been determined before we publicly fired Flores. I'm keeping my fingers crossed that we get this done. It would be an amazing hire and the energy around here would be so much better. Harbaugh is a winner through and through. He overachieved as a quarterback and he's done exceptional as a coach in both the pros and college. Still need to establish the quarterback position, but this will be a step in the right direction if it happens.

I've thought the same thing- that's the only way you fire a HC that's winning. If they had Harbaugh in place all along, then I'm content with getting rid of Flores and all of this makes sense. Build an elite defense with Flores, kick him to the curb, have Harbaugh build the offense and maybe you're that perennial playoff contender.

It would 100% make sense- but maybe I'm giving Ross too much credit. We'll see what happens with San Fran this evening; I personally hope the Niners win, but it would potentially cross another name off the list two weeks earlier if they lose.

What Mike McDaniel and that staff are doing with jimmy Garappolo is impressive. Wouldn’t be upset if he’s the hire either.

I couldn't find a reliable source, but there are small, likely untrustworthy news outlets saying Harbaugh to Miami is a done deal and will be announced tomorrow.

Yes, he's done a great job. Only issue is he looks like the great coordinator, but not so great HC type. Being a head coach is not just about Xs and Os, he has to be a leader of men and do many things at once.

No. It was two or three sites nobody has ever heard of, they weren't even football sites. But they were all quoting this tweet:

It's not, anybody can write there pretty much. It all comes down to who that was that made the Tweet and if he could have a connection that could break that story.
