There are plenty of threads over the years to choose from that prove otherwise, where should we start? Hell, our fans called Ginn a bust long before the Browns traded up to select Quinn.
Ginn had a decent rookie season in a limited role in a terrible offense. Most people on this board were raving about him just 3 weeks ago how he's such a great WR with tremendous upside and how he's going to be our #1. Now after, okay TWO, bad games where NO ONE on our offense has looked good everyone is ready to write him off. Classic overreaction.
crazy how ginn won the survivor now fans are turning on him after 2 games! only in miami.................
I wish. But we'd get very little value for him at this point so we might as well hold onto and hope he can develop into something.
you missed the part where we trade away all of them after 1 bad game, especially drew brees who was pretty bad his first couple years in the league.
Were we watching the same Miami Dolphins vs Arizona Cardinals game? Ginn got one pass and that was with about six minutes left in the game. There was a period where he stood on the sidelines. I saw Camarillo, Hagan and Bess out there more than Ginn. They got more looks by far.
Yeah or you know this one "And we would have released every single one of them once they had a bad game." which I believe summarizes the mentality of most on this board better than most.
Ginn didn't even receive a look in his direction by Pennington. Whether or not he was open is another issue, as I wasn't at the game to see the entire field. However, I did not see Pennington's eyes look his way a single time. I still don't understand why the **** he's not out there in 3-WR sets. That's disgusting.
Very true. No debating that. The question is though, WHY was Ginn out of the game? Is it because of lack of production, quite probable. However you have to examine WHY there is that lack of production. Ginn needs to work on getting seperation. He's not strong enough to get off the chuck at the line of scrimmage. He doesn't run the most crisp routes either. However Pennington is a very limited QB. He's a dink and dunk QB and Ginn doesn't fit that playstyle. Or at least Dan Henning is not calling plays that use Ginn in that playstyle. I don't know why we don't run some screen passes to Ginn, some WR reverses, or some sort of play to get the ball to Ginn in space. I think what it comes down to is that our coaches are not making the best use of the talent on the roster. However the way they are constantly changing personnel around gives me hope that they are at least trying to figure it out. However I still don't think trading/cutting players after week 2 is a wise idea.
Have you seen the main boards at Finheaven back in day? Obviously you haven't if you think that's a lie...
I think many misunderstand my stance. I think he gets traded based on how things are playing out for Ginn. Their not using his speed, their not trying to get the ball in his hands. I'm calling it how I see it. Besides I would love to keep him on the team to balance out with those Wolverines. Also I hope they start Brown its quite clear he is the better of the 2 backs.
LOL..... Yeah...lets ship out all the young players and fire the staff every year until a rookie coach and player team win us the Super Bowl! It's the old "Change" mantra
He didn't miss it because it's nothing but smoke being blown from the nether regions of Ginn apologists.
A couple things to consider: - We should be looking at getting Ginn the ball, someway, somehow. I'm talking reverses, punt returns, trick plays, whatever it takes. - If he's raw as a route runner we should be utilizing him out of the slot via bubble screens or simpler routes. Don't just send him on a streak down the field. Problem is that Bess fits the slot receiver role better, which forces Ginn into being something he's not - a possession receiver. - If there was any kind of consistent compliment to Ginn (What Hagan has shown flashes of becoming, and what Wilford was signed to be), we wouldn't be having this conversation because they would be taking the pressure off of him. - Pennington, while accurate, has a spotty arm that limits our ability to go over the middle of the field. We're basically only able to use about two-thirds of the field when he's out there, and the deep ball (Ginn's specialty) is few and far between. All that out of the way, I think Ginn's suffering from confidence issues. What have we seen from him this year? Disinterest, poor routes, backed off punts, and generally not doing anything. He appeared tentative last week against the Jets, and hardly played today. He needs to buckle down, get aggressive, and simply start playing football. Hopefully that lightbulb goes on, and quick, because we need him.
Um, feel free to view my post history and realize that I'm not Ginn apologist. In fact if you revisit the survivor thread you'll realize I don't even really like Ginn that much. However I try to look at the big picture and use logic to realize that trading away our young talent because they haven't put up Randy Moss number in the first 2 games of the season is a bad idea. Don't try to paint a scenario that's not the truth.
Naw, instead let's keep bad coaches around for FIVE SEASONS, so they can screw up our drafts so badly that we still haven't recovered. Let's keep mediocre QBs rather than drafting one high in the draft for TWENTY TWO YEARS. Let's keep overpaid draft picks and FAs on the team long after they've proven they aren't going to produce for us, just so they can eat up our cap space. I'm sure that's a MUCH faster way to reach the SB...
It's nothing but your straw man that this is based only on his performance these two games. His route running hasn't improved a bit over last season AND he's not being used as a return man due to what the coaches feel is his lack of explosive burst. Whether you disagree with them or not, the fact remains that he's not contributing to the team.
how was his rookie year as a WR not decent? 34 catches with cleo lemon and john beck as qb is pretty good..he only started 9 games last year....your just a ginn hater it sounds like
Regarding the original topic at hand (RE: Trade Ginn), it's ridiculous to consider trading away a talented receiver that's played a total of 18 games in the NFL. Common learning curve for a Wide Receiver is somewhere between 32-48 games, so from a development standpoint, he's not even halfway there. Factor in that he was known as a raw route runner coming out of college and viewed as a project at receiver along with poor QB play and it's easy to see why he's struggled so far.
now your just assuming sparano is going to be a bad coach for the next 5 years....what do you think a rookie head coach is gonna turn a 1-15 team around in one offseason?? if you honestly think firing sparano and hiring a new coach AGAIN, is the right way to go. i dont know what to say
If Ginn can't play better then Hagan and the FA WR's we have. Then he doesn't have much value to this team or any other team. That's when i think teams should get rid of people or try to trade them. Please don't ask me if i'm joking i have not made fun of your Opinions. So why go out of your way to do it to me or others?
Hater? No, I wish the guy all the luck in the world. If I am a hater of anyone, it's Cam Cameron for drafting Ted Ginn at ninth overall when there were many better players on the board. Ted Ginn is a guy you draft when you have a solid team all around and just need one special speed guy to put you over the top. He's not the player you take when your offensive and defensive lines are hurting bad and your defensive backfield is a joke.
Thats all water under the bridge now...fact is ,hes here and played a total of 18 games. I really think its to soon to label him a bust.
Well, you and many others may think it is, but we don't know whether the current coaching staff, GM and FO think that it is. I keep coming back to this: if they think Ginn is a good player, why don't they have him returning kicks?
Its funny how Ginn has taken Hagans place as the bust of the week. I can remember when Chambers was the bust of the week. With the frustraitions that the fans are experiencing there has to be a center of focus and it seems to be Ginn right now. I am not a Ginn apologist, and I couldn't believe when we picked him first with so many other good players on the board, such as Patrick Willis. I couldn't believe when Cameron said we didn't just draft Ginn we drafted his whole family. Having said all that I believe it is too soon to write him off already. As one sports writer put it, Ginn is a speed burner playing with a QB who can't throw the ball over 25 yards, he needs to adjust his game to run better routes and make catches over the middle. Maybe he will make it or maybe he will be a bust, but we need to give him every opportunity to succeed. Better yet we need to trust in Parcells and Sparano, maybe Parcells can help him like he has Hagans.
