With the new HC set, it's time to see who crews the McDolphins.

Here's where we stand right now:

Big shame to lose him if he gets the job, but he's probably gonna move up quickly. Reminds me a lot of Aaron Glenn (yes that one!) who Dan Campbell brought here to Detroit for DC, he had been DB coach in Nawlins. Turned in a good performance in his first year and already getting HC looks. If his units proves again, I'd be surprised if he doesn't get hired somewhere.

Alexander I feel is in line for a similar path.

I just came here to post on Welker- that can't be a bad thing since he's one of the better route runners from the past few decades.

To bad they didn't do it the other way around. I'd rather have Alexander then Boyer, the D took off when Flores took over...

You gotta explain how this article supports this conclusion.

However, if the point was to maintain continuity with the defensive philosophy, this gutting of the defensive staff seems be betray that goal. We should have just let mcdaniel select his own defensive coordinator.

Basically my fear is playing out. I feared that McDaniel was hired as a HC/OC placeholder, but Grier is still calling all the shots. McDaniel does not seem to have final say in anything, even over the coaching staff.

I would have expected him to bring in his own DC and hire trusted staff from his over 15 years of contacts around the legue, but instead it seems like Grier is making all the decisions.

If that's the case, we're ****ed.

We‘ll see, I heard a lot of people rave about Alexander and our defensive backfield was awesome, for Boyer that is a little different. Was also hoping for Fangio a little bit, so now no Fangio and Alexander gone, not good news for me. Let’s see how the staff looks in the end…

The point is the "Flores took over" story is suspect at best.

Why is it hard to believe that McDaniel would retain a popular and successful coach on the opposite side of the ball as his specialty?

While many of us hoped for Fangio, we don't know if he was really interested. He may prefer a year off, or to work only as a HC, etc.

As for Alexander, I was hoping he could stay and liked him, but maybe it was Boyer who made the recommendation to move.

People are reading deeply into things without having any real information outside of surface moves.

    Holup. Couple of things:

    1. There was a Quality Control person all this time?
    2. Mike Judge is one of the coaches on this teams.

But can he teach? You can be AWESOME at something but can’t teach to save your life. On the other hand, you can be average at something but be able to effectively teach it.

I always liked Welker. Trading him was one of the STUPIDEST things this team ever did.

What I'm saying is all these moves look like Grier moves to me, not McDaniel moves. Grier is still running the show, and that is bad news for Dolphins fans.

Ross is a complete buffoon for continuing to trust Grier to lead this team.

I don’t think you could spot a McDaniel move right now since nobody has a clue who he is as a coach.

That's a big assumption to make. Short of Fangio, Boyer was the likely DC candidate. He knows the system and personnel and most of the defensive players like and respect him. You are letting your dislike of Grier remove the option of objectivity in favor of blind outrage.

Im starting to put the pieces together, and what it sounds like is that Flores was let go because Grier wanted more control over what he thought should be happening. It seems Grier has a vision of what this team will be and Flores and him butted heads. McDaniel being a rookie HC took the job but was not given any of the power a real head coach has. Grier probably said the defense was good lets keep it going and you come in and fix the offense that's all we need done.
