If Ross was dumb enough to send a letter, or email, or text or offer a contract stating this in the context you believe. Then yes, he should be removed from the league.

If there is no evidence besides a private conversation four years ago, then nothing is going to happen.

Agreed. People in the know seem to think hes in peril. I dont think an anecdotal conversation puts out that feeling. Someone may have the goods on him for this many people to think hes taking on water.

Profootballtalk is a terrible source and so is whatever this random reddit is. They also had Harbaugh signing with the Vikings.

Is nfl.com a terrible source too? There’s a lot of smoke here just to dismiss it. Harbaugh was apparently gonna take the vikes job bc he thought it was a fake interview then they actually grilled him for like 8 hours and he withdrew.

Sometimes however, perception is reality, regardless of the facts. We’ve all experienced that in one way, shape or form. Often, unfairly but as a Dolphins fan, this perception further tarnishing the franchise, whether true or not could be that blessing we’ve all hoped for…Ross being removed as the owner of the Dolphins.

It would be difficult to feel any pity for him though. After all, he’s walk away after selling his what $400 million share in the team. He’ll be quite alright.

He has a reputation he wants to protect as he made in his statement. I don't think he is just going to fold and ride off into the sunset with his name and integrity tarnished, while also being perceived as a racist.

It's not that I care for Ross so much. I just hate cancel culture.

I hate cancel culture. But this isn't that. At its core, this is someone paying for a desired out-come in a game, aka fixing. That is what will ultimately decide his fate. The other stuff in the Flores case is not something that will sink Ross.

I could see the NFL leveraging it as a corrective action for the other allegations though. Kill two birds with 1 stone.

I don’t understand “i hate cancel culture” when discussing something potentially illegal. Thats not cancel culture, its consequences. Granted, in our society the rich and powerful never face consequences so it may seem like being cancelled…

Agreed. When I think cancel culture, I think someone who has done something morally reprehensible, but not necessarily illegal. This allegation, if proven true, would have consequences in any time period - pre or post cancel culture.

Anyway, without a smoking gun nothing is going to happen. I feel like something would have leaked by now if there was hard evidence.

Exactly. NFL owners are not going to force out one of their own over hearsay or a “he said, he said” situation. They would all be worried about their own situations if that were the case - you don’t get to be that wealthy by being saintly.

PS. Not saying I support Ross or want to keep him as owner, but I just don’t see it happening with what we know at this point.

Goodell works for the owners. They hired him. Imagine him trying to force an owner out for alleged incidents. How can the other 31 owners trust him? Goodell is not going to put his $65 million a year job on the line unless there is hard proof.

The owners are just getting into a very lucrative income stream with sports betting, and all that goes away if it appears that teams are intentionally losing football games. More than anything, Goodell is a money-man there to protect the owners' financial interests. If casinos start inquiring about tanking, you'd better believe that all 31 will side with profit over Ross.

Remember, Ross does not make the other NFL owners money. They could care less if its him or another wealthy name in charge of the franchise.

Nobody cared when the Colts clearly tanked and started Curtis Painter for a year to get Luck. Nobody cared when the Bengals tanked in 2019 to get Burrow. Teams tank and actually tank. Miami didn't.

The Dolphins didn't invent tanking. Tanking is nothing new. This will not affect sports betting in any way. The NBA is exhibit A. The money will flow and both sides will profit. Secondly, everyone knew Miami was tanking. They cut and/or traded their best assets. The NFL didn't care then. It doesn't care now. This investigation is about PR. Lastly, you're right to point out that they don't care about Ross. They do however, care about themselves. The name of the game is control and power. The NFL, more so than any other sport, has managed to maintain an iron grip on both. If an NFL owner were ever to be removed, the circumstances would have to be extra ordinary. This aint it. This story is hyperbole. Just another cog in the 24 hour news cycle. Outrage as entertainment.

I should have clarified, I meant "tanking" as intentionally throwing a football game. That's a lot different than just fielding a lousy team, because the point spread handicaps for that.

Yeah, sure, but again you’re missing it. Gambling is no longer shunned its now the leagues primary sponsor. The league is beholden to them

In any sport, at any level, if you're caught throwing games then your career is over. Just look at Pete Rose...or the Black Sox. People still talk about those things passionately because it's one thing you never forget.

Belichek-level cheating with Adams in the booth? That can be overlooked. Asking coaches to throw football games? Nobody is going to overlook that since it turns the NFL into WWE.

And let's be honest- it was obvious the front office didn't want to win in 2019. They did everything they could to put together a no-talent roster. Fitzpatrick was there to make them look halfway respectable- he was never supposed to actually win. Nobody in their right mind would say early on that the 2019 Miami Dolphins were an NFL-caliber team.

Story back in the new bc phins said any attempt to get flores to sign an NDA is false. Then Flores lawyer posted the NDA. Whoever is handling this from a Dolphins PR perspective appears out of their depth. Flores lawyers arent good. Stop making unforced errors.

Flo said Ross personally asked for the NDA.
That is different from the Dolphin’s lawyers asking for the NDA.
Ross vehemently denies personally asking for the NDA, and quite frankly is a minor detail, a standard practice for any settlement that is routinely handled by lawyers not by clients.
The unforced error is from Flo.

They also said they will cooperate with the nfls tanking probe and turn over their evidence related to this allegation, which is interesting bc it probably undercuts their court case

Semantics. Jibber jabber. Team said Ross didn't; Flo said Ross did. All we know, is that Ross' TEAM did.

The "Gotcha" falls short and the damage is done.
