Yeah he was fairly later in the series. But they did (iirc) tease the couple from the very first episode, and the enviro-whackos with the crazy lady and rabbit heads who were both super early. Plus most of the actual "story" beats like Vicious, Gren, etc.

Final (6th) season of The Expanse starts on Dec 10th.

Still a chance that books not covered so far will be picked up in new seasons in the future but, from what I understand, there is a natural break in the books which is one of the reasons they're currently stopping at 6 seasons. I've not read any of the books, but supposedly there's a 30 year gap in the storyline so I suppose it makes sense to stop/pause now. I just hope there's not too many cliffhangers and open-ended storylines left at the end of this season.

Two episodes in The Wheel Of Time. The story goes along much faster without 5 pages with descriptions of drapes.

Seriously though, so far so good. It has been 20 years since I read the first book in the series, but it seems like a good faithful adaptation of the book.

Bebop live action is bad and misses the whole spirit of the animated series.

Faye is no longer bull-headed, strong, and sexy. She's an immature older teen. "Nut bags"? C'mon.

Spike and Jet are now The Nice Guys. Spike is rogueish and lacks the principals he had in the anime.

They force extra violence, nudity, and cursing into the show, and for what reason? I don't know.

Art direction is mostly good. Some of the characters and sets are lifeless- especially bad in the episode with the Ganymede Sea Rat terrorists.

Vicious is princely, hot-headed, and bumbling. He isn't in control, with small episodes of psychopathy, like in the show. He and Julia are in a relationship.. why? Julia was tough and enigmatic in the anime, here- she is pathetic. Why would she even be with Vicious?

I made it 5 episodes in and am severely disinterested in finishing. The lone bright spot is Shakir as Jet. He does a great job and that character felt as if it were wrote the most appropriately.

Somehow the cartoon is more mature than the live action.

I'm watching Apple TV's Invasion and think it's great. Until Hawkeye premiered, Invasion was the only show I made sure to watch the day of release. Not sure I can recommend it because it's not a bunch of explosions and violence. Mostly, it's a character study and it's very good from that standpoint.

Watched Foundation and I'm eager for the second season. Sadly, I had never heard of Asimov's book series before the show was announced. It's too expansive for me to pick up anytime soon. The show is nothing short of excellent.

I'm three episodes into Arcane: League of Legends and am eager to see where it goes.

Dan Brown's The Lost Symbol is okay if you're a fan of The Da Vinci Code, but like the movies, it's ridiculously heavy on exposition. Every segment is like: "When he said I need to find the fisherman's helper to locate the map, it was an indication that I needed to find a hook. One of the rooms in the bottom of the Pentagon is known as 'the Barb', which is another word for hook. The architect responsible for planning that wing was Arthur Fisherman in 1873. We need to go to the Barb in order to locate Fisherman's diary, which reportedly has a hand-drawn map to our next destination..."

The protagonist will be explaining this to his team as they're already on the elevator to the Pentagon's basement. Not a bad show, but one that I'm not eager to finish soon.

Hawkeye is off to a great start and I hope the rest of the series is as good as the first two episodes.

I'll probably watch Chucky once Invasion ends.

I have zero interest in League of Legends. However, too many people I follow on YouTube and Twitter, plus a 10 rating on IGN just made me want to watch Arcane on Netflix.

3 episodes in and holy **** this is good. If you like animation at all, then I think you will like this. I am invested in characters and I have no idea who they are. The story telling is great, the acting is great, the visuals are spectacular, and the animation is top notch. I am hooked.

It is also very mature without being that mature that is immature because it is just cussing and boobs. There is some cussing. There are no boobs so far. It is just the themes are mature, the violence serves the story they are making.

Unlucky, you probably wouldn't like it, it is very violent.

I'm totally cool with MCU or Star Wars violence. It's brutality and gore that I can't stand. Or where it's drawn out and graphic, and one character is trying to make another suffer. That I have no time for.

It's a good show but it's a slow burner to start with. You need to plough through at least the first half of the season, maybe even the whole thing. I knew nothing going in and stopped after a few episodes, it was slow. But my friends kept going on about it so I revisited it with the wife and it takes some really unexpected turns. Stick with it and it will at least prove to be an show with decent writing, good character development, and some good twists. Of course, if you're not a 'hard sci-fi' fan you might struggle.

If you like Sci-Fi it's a must imo. As Galant notes, it starts kind of slow and can be a bit confusing, but the action and plot starts to pick up and once it does it just takes off. Good acting, an evolving and expansive plot that manages to be mysterious while keeping itself fairly tight. The action scenes are fantastic. It has violence, but it's more tactically applied and not gratuitous, excessive or hyper-violent/gory imo. Most of it is done to showcase the "hard" sci-fi the series is known for, like having automatic gattling style guns tear apart a ship with predictable results for the occupants, so it's present, but not dominant or the focal point at all. Lots of political type intrigue, investigative procedural stuff, military tactical stuff.

Alex Rider's second season just launched. I'm watching season #1 again before I start it because I actually thought it was pretty good. Nobody that I know has watched it, though.

Lost In Space, season #3 also landed and I'm going to binge it in the next week. Not that it's a great series, but it is enjoyable to me. Plus, the final episode of the second season was probably in my top 10 of individual episodes ever. And that's saying a lot.

Don't hate me for watching and finishing season #3 of Jurassic World: Camp Cretaceous. It's totally a children's show, but I've been a dinosaur nerd since I was 7-years old and that ain't changing 50+ years afterward.

I've watched both seasons of Alex Rider and enjoyed them. I do have to turn the brain off a bit to believe a 16 year old (or whatever age he's meant to be) can do some of the stuff he does, but it's a fun show with decent storylines, if a little far-fetched. The supporting cast is pretty good in it too. I hope they renew it for a third season.

LOL! I turn off my brain's logic centers whenever I watch spy shows. And yeah, that's necessary for what's effectively a YA version of Spy Kids. The plot of season one is so grandiose, it had to have come from the novels. It's on a James Bond scale and I like the show partly because it's not grounded on any level of reality.

Once again Disney+ fails to stick the landing with its marvel show.

Hawkeye is enjoyable enough but still a mess. Trying to do too much. I am happy I watched it, however, it wasn't worth staying up late to watch so I won't get spoiled. I should have gotten sleep.

Well, I finished Alex Rider and it's still a fun show to watch, even though it made me glad I watched it alone. I didn't have to deal with my wife giving em a crazy look that telepathically asked Really? Really?! Teen aged James Bond with more head scratching plot holes and leaps of incredulity than all of the Roger Moore 007 movies combined.

The second episode of The Book Of Boba Fett was one of the best episodes of a TV show that I've ever seen. After watching it, I can't believe they put that much story into a 50 minute run-time. I'm about to watch it again.

I finished the last season of The Expanse last night, and was a bit disappointed in it. It was ok, but felt a bit rushed, which might be explained by it only being 6 episodes. I didn't like the actor who played Marco Inaros either, to the level that he put me off the show whenever he was on screen...and he's a big part of the last season.

It did sort of finish the story off, but there was a big part of it that was left unfinished, and I was surprised that that storyline was included in quite so many scenes in the last season when it was being left open-ended.

Maybe they're planning a follow up show that covers just that part of the storyline. Otherwise I might just have to check the books out to read the full story.

I have watched two adult cartoons.

#1. Inside Job. This is a work place comedy that is set in the shadow government running the deep state. At first, I thought it was going to be stupid. In fact, the first 5 minutes I didn't find funny so I quit watching. I saw a few reviews that convinced me to give it another try. It is very enjoyable. Especially if you have an enjoyment of conspiracy theories. As it makes fun of a lot of them. Basically it is a world where a lot of the conspiracy theories are real, however, they are not what you think. The cast makes me laugh. I wouldn't say this is an A+ comedy, but it is a solid B-. If you like conspiracy theories, it is good for a laugh. It is on Netflix.

#2. The Legend of Vox Machina. This is a very not for kids cartoon set in D&D by the people who do Critical Role. Basically they are bunch of voice actors who play D&D on Twitch and they have been doing it for 3 years. They put out a Kickstarter to raise enough for a short 20 minute cartoon, and ended up raising enough for 12 episodes, and then Amazon Prime picked it up and bumped the episode count to 24. It drops you right into the action, so you have to be fine with not watching origin stories. It is pretty fun. I think the first episode isn't the best, however, the second one is really good and I really enjoyed the third one. This is a violent cartoon with nudity. Not for kids. Though if you like that sort of thing, it is worth watching.

I watched the new series of Reacher on Amazon over the weekend.

They nailed it on the casting of Reacher this time, which I think they knew that had to get right. You just can't have an actor that's not close to 6'5 and 250lbs playing him (I'm looking at you, Tom Cruise) as so much of the character is based on his intimidating size.

As a fan of the Reacher books (although the last few have dipped in quality), I quite enjoyed the first season. It's not perfect by any means, and it's never going to be winning any awards, but it was a good to switch the brain off and just enjoy.

I haven't read any of the books, and I thought the Tom Cruise movies were alright, but I can definitely see the changes brought about by having a mountain of a human play the titular character. I agree it makes it better, for sure. I also liked how it was a series instead of a single movie, I thought that gave time to do more and include more vs. a condensed movie.

Honestly, while the show as a whole may not be an award winner, I do think the Ritchson guy did an excellent job. He's got good timing and some comedic chops which keep the series and character from bogging down in violence and one-dimensional brawniness overpowering everything.

Anyway, it's a pretty fun watch.

I just watched the first three episodes of Epix's From. It's pretty much nightmare fuel for me and I can't wait for the next episode. I recommend it if you like scary shows and movies.

Also started watching Bel-Air, which I find interesting. I only watched the first episode, but I definitely will circle back to finish the series.

I finished the second season of The Witcher. If you enjoyed the first season, I think you'll like this one too. Although its not quite as strong, it does progress the overall story well, and most of the episodes are well done. I think that they did a good job with most of the characters, however they often spent too much time with secondary ones, and often spread themselves too thin. In some episodes, there were stories taking place at six or seven different locations and they would swap back and forth between them. It was a bit much. Still, very much looking forward to season 3, whenever it comes along.

I ended up getting out my game guide for The Witcher 3 to show my wife exactly who a lot of the characters were and what their motivations likely are. The series isn't exactly the same as either the games or the books, but it does feel like its progressing along a similar path.

Just binged Peacemaker and loved it. John Cena is excellent as the title character who showed up first in Suicide Squad, which this directly follows on from. The show goes much deeper into him as a character, with unexpectedly good acting (to me anyway) from Cena, along with some laugh out loud comic lines. The rest of the cast do a great job too, especially his superhero side-kick, Vigilante. Good soundtrack too, if you like 80's/90's style rock.

The show reminds me of The Boys and Guardians of the Galaxy (no surprise with James Gunn as the creator) and, if you like those, you should love this. Although it doesn't end on a cliffhanger, and the storyline is wrapped up, it's been renewed for a second season by HBO, so there will be more to come.

It's been out for a couple of months, but finally got around to watching the BBC show The Tourist, about a man who is run off the road in the Outback of Australia, then wakes up with amnesia in the hospital. He, and the rookie female cop who first speaks to him in the hospital, has to try and work out why people are obviously trying to kill him.

A bit reminiscent of Fargo, with quirky characters and dark humour along with a bleak landscape. Some decent twists, as would be expected with someone trying to remember who he is and what he has done. James Dornan, of 50 Shades of Gray fame, is the lead...but don't let that put you off!

Edit - apparently it's available on HBO Max in the US

Obi-Wan Kenobi is already the best Disney+ Star Wars show. And I'm a huge fan of both The Mandalorian and Book of Boba Fett. It added another mic drop moment to go along with Vader's telling Luke he's his father, freezing Han, Vader slaying Obi-Wan in New Hope, Vader's rampage in Rogue One (lot of Vader mic drops, LOL), and Luke's rampage in Mando season 2 finale. The only worry is that the show might have crested too soon.

Stranger Things 4 is the best since the first season. The Duffer Brothers took the show into full horror mode and it was a good choice. I was concerned that it's been yielding diminished returns for the last couple of seasons, but I'm planning on watching it again very soon. The only problem is that it has three separate stories and one of them is definitely the weakest of them. With that being said, I'd give it 8 out of 10 stars.

Fair enough. It's already got an "all-time classic" moment in it. Its story is developing slower than I'd prefer, but I'm reminded why I like Ewan McGregor as much as I do.

By the way: The new season of The Orville looks like it's up. I'm definitely watching episode one by tomorrow. I might watch the first episode of The Boys, too.

The weird thing with Obi Wan is that there have been several instances where the camera work/visuals are just absolutely awful. As in, like they were done by an amateur who didn't know what they were doing level bad. It was really distracting, and I couldn't believe that Disney/Star Wars would let that into the final cut of a show with only six episodes.

Which moment are you thinking here?

100% - that parkour scene for example. Like, what the hell even was that? Then she just kind of saunters into the warehouse? C'mon.

There are a lot of plot elements that also feel this way to me. Like, how do the Imperials not know where the ship was going? How did Reva get ahead of Leia in the tunnel?

I dunno, it feels lackluster to me. Way below the Mando standard.
