Both 1 year deals. Surprised Williams gets another chance. He was often injured, struggled to separate, one dimensional and dropped a lot of balls. He had his moments with Fitzmagic throwing him jump balls. But I would have rather moved on and given a chance to a new face. I agree with Beasley… It’s a solid deal for Williams. Maybe not the Dolphins.
I don't think it's a bad deal- he still has massive upside and can't be covered 1:1. If we shore up the line and Tua has time to target those deeper routes, you want Williams and Parker with their huge catch radius bringing them down. It's a low risk/high reward type of signing. If he doesn't deliver, then you part ways with nothing to cry about. $2M a year isn't much about the league minimum for a 5th year player; it's worth the dice roll.
If Williams can't stay healthy or learn the playbook he will not make it out of camp. Both have been problems with him. For my part I am surprised we brought him back. He has some potential, we've all seen it, I'm just over having guys that can't stay healthy in the receiver room. I'm not talking about a guy missing a game or two for the typical things that happen. I'm talking about guys missing 1/4 to a 1/3 of the season, or more, constantly. Parker is always banged up and Preston is worse. Fuller? Please 1 game and done. We haven't even SEEN Hurns and he's been here TWO YEARS. Give me the guys like Hollins who isn't the most talented guy on the field but is always ready to play EVERY week and in the limited snaps that he gets he manages to make a play or two. Someone has said the best ability is availability. Williams has not shown that yet in his career.
