And not really feeling this move not only did he get benched halfway through the season he was also the most penalized offense of lineman in the league I’m not sure that they’re going to be able to coach that out of him and $14 million for two years I think I would’ve looked around more but maybe they see some thing I don’t the Cowboy fans seem to be happy for him to leave

Serviceable starting guard at an average price. Im okay with this signing and i wont read too much into what Cowboys fans think, werent they suppose to win every super bowl the last 25 years?

If he doesn’t work out at least he’s a good depth signing just worried about his holding penalties hopefully they can coach that out of him he still young enough

So add an average G to the worst OL and it’s fixed! Love Griers off-season plan.

I must admit, I know absolutely nothing about him, but if he was the 11th ranked guard last season, he must have something about him.

And if it doesn’t work out, two-year deal isn’t disastrous, but on the plus side, at 24, he is yet to reach his prime and if he can eliminate the penalties, he could turn out to be a fantastic acquisition.

I'm sure McD and his staff know what they are looking for in recruits.

I am getting the vibe that there will be a lot of competition at the LG position. I think by no means is he assured a starting job.

I think you guys are under selling Williams. His one flaw are his holding penalties and that needs to get under control. He is a perfect fit for a zone blocking scheme and he is a mean and nasty type which is exactly the kind of guy I want ono the oline. We haven't a guy with his temperment since Incognito. He isn't as out of control as Ritchie but he aint gonna take crap, he is gonna dish it out.

    I really like this guy.

He’s hardly average if he ranked 11th last season.

32 teams with, let’s say 3.5 guards each. That’s 112, which means Connor is in the best 10%.

Quite a bit better than average.

If you think these comments are just about this off-season or the first 2 days of FA then I’ve got some ocean front property to sell you in North Dakota . You’re going to love the beaches up there!

Then why did he get benched? And if he’s so good at his position, why was he penalized so much?

    Great points.
And let’s not kid ourselves… Dak has always been known to hold on to the ball for faaaar too long!
Tua gets the ball out quick.

In 2020 when Dak was injured, Williams only had 4 holding penalties.

Not too familiar with Williams, but his grades are encouraging. Also Experienced, but still a young player.

If he was so bad, how did he make the top 10%?

As I stated earlier, I know nothing about him, because I don’t really follow any of the other teams, but he must have some qualities that led Mike to think his arrival will benefit and improve our OLine.

Don't know anything about him but I really like what I see in those clips against Donald. I especially like him if he's the 11th ranked G and has a mean streak on top of it.

I think the O-line just got better. 'Course it couldn't get much worse, so there's that.

Hard to say. Iowa had a G that couldn’t even crack the starting lineup that was rated top 10 for most of the season. They also had Iowa’s OL rated top 5 even though they had 2 of the worst starting tackles in college(even PFF rankings were low).

I like PFF but definitely have some flaws.

And here's PFF's draft profile on him where he was a tackle:

Is there any chance Miami are actually going to think of moving him back to tackle?

The two big things about this kid is that he's young and he showed a lot of growth across last season. Great technique as well and he has a very high motor. I don't think we'd move him back to tackle though because of his size and agility- he's more natural at guard at the NFL level. But this kid could be a very, very good guard for a long time.

If everyone sets their expectation where it should be, hes not an all pro guard, but yet hes better than what we had last year at the same position.. then you shouldnt be annoyed by this signing. We have a lot of holes to fill on the offensive line and making one big signing for 90-100 million on a single player doesnt fix the problem.. hell it may create a problem for other positions.

Can confirm that Cowboys fans are happy about this trade. My brother-in-law described him as a big-play / drive killer (penalties).

He didn’t get benched on accident. Having said that, I’d say Austin Jackson was a bigger driver killer and one of the worst starting OL in the NFL. Hopefully with some coaching, Williams can clean up the penalties and live up to the #11 PFF ranking.

And honestly, I’ve we sign Armstead and finally have a legit LT, it solves a lot of problems on our OL. Move Davis back to LG to compete with Williams and Jackson. Move Liam to RT. Then we just need to address C in the draft.

Word is it was a bad run in one season and he's been fine the rest of the season and his career. So I'm not sure I want to put a lot of stock in fan opinions.

I watched him some this weekend and he's a very good player. The penalties are frustrating, sure, but you guys have to realize that almost every lineman holds on just about every passing play. It is what it is...you usually get away with it, but sometimes you don't. That doesn't make him a bad player.
