The AFC is stacked as I have never seen.I don't see how anyway we make playoffs again next year .
If we were in NFC I would give a 70 percent chance.

We weren't going to make the playoffs either way.

Not that it matters but look around the NfC.
    It's terrible.

At this point in the off-season it’s pretty clear we’ve lost ground to multiple teams. But this is what happens when Ross is your owner and your GM completely blows multiple drafts.

I disagree- there's still 4 division champs and 3 wild cards regardless. Miami is still the 2nd best team in the division, the Chiefs are still on top in the West, and you'd have to think maybe the Browns have the north and the Titans still have the South.

Who's that leave for the wild card? Maybe Indy....but Indy was there last year. Steelers, Browns, Bengals and Ravens are always in the mix- but they'll eliminate each other. Chargers didn't get better, Broncos got slightly better, so it's really the same mix as before.

Did the AFC improve overall? Sure. But I don't think that makes it tougher on us necessarily. We still have one team to beat- the Bills. And unfortunately, they are stacking the deck for this season...I'd call them the early AFC favorites. So I think we're right there in the mix with the Pats playing for the 5th, 6th or 7th seed.

LOL. We're in mid-season whiner form almost six months before the season even starts.

    Slightly left of center
Keys right, no matter how you slice it we have a 7 in 16 chance at the dance. And once the music starts One team has to win 3 or 4 games in a row. Any given Sunday. Or Monday. Or Thursday. Or a few Saturdays at the end of the season. Or Tuesday if there's a Pandemic. But never on Friday, that's for High School football.

No !We are in a 21 year drought of not being relevant so we have every right to be pessimistic! Especially how the AFC is stacked with QBs now.
If u haven't suffered through this the entire time then ur opinion is irrelevant!

I don’t know how you can call adding a franchise/top 5 QB getting slightly better for Denver. And the Chargers got substantially better. They added Khalil Mack and one of the best Cb’s in the NFL. Their biggest issue has been their defense.

As I see it, we’ve lost ground and/or are still behind: KC, Buf, Cin, Ten, LVR, LAC, Den. Indy, Cle and Bal are debatable.

Guys, we haven't even finished FA, and then there's the draft. And we're installing a new offense.
I know it's the down season but it's entirely too early to be making predictions, especially getting all down about things.

If someone wants to discuss football or more specifically the Dolphins, what else is there to talk about? I thought the whole point of forums was to discuss your favorite team(the good, the bad and the ugly) with other fans connecting across the US and globe. And honestly if everything was just peachy or everyone agreed, it would be a boring forum.

Sure. It's more the fatalistic tone that things for next season are already dead in the water when we haven't even made it through through FA and into the draft.

I can't stop anyone who wants to go down that rabbit hole I just wanted to encourage people to maybe look up a bit.

Is Wilson still top-5 though? I mean, I'd never count him out, but to me he's not the same guy that he was 5 years ago. Poor dude has been beaten up so much over the years that he's just a fraction of what he once was.

Sort of reminds me of D Wade for the Heat- clearly a superstar and one of the best ever. But 2020 Wade couldn't touch 2010 Wade.

He had the 5th highest QB rating last year. He’s certainly taken his fair share of bumps and bruises but has only missed 3 games in his career while being sacked 427 times.

There’s a lot of people inside our fanbase that don’t trust Grier or Ross to make the right decisions to turn this franchise around.

Can you honestly look at our roster vs KC, LV, Ten, Buf, Cincy and think that we’ve done anything to make up ground? I could make a strong case that Den, LAC, Indy and Cle are there too.

To be honest, with the salary cap we had coming into the season I was hopeful we make some major improvements. As far as the draft goes, do you really trust Grier?

Ten and LV don't belong in that group. The problem is the AFC having this crazy amount of depth so even if the Dolphins take a meaningful leap they still can be left out in the cold.

But the hope for the Dolphins is and should always have been making smart moves around hopefully a good coach who is going to build an offense. That is a better plan than flashy win the offseason moves as if we haven't them try that and fail over and over. If McDaniel is legit the moves they made should pay off. If he isn't we are screwed but we would be anyway.

I mentioned them both beside they both beat us last year and we weren’t even competitive against Ten. To be fair, I think Tua was out and if so, any decent QB we win that game. But LV also added Adams and Chandler Jones.

My opinion may be irrelevant. But I've been with this team for more than 50 years, so I'd say it matters at least as much as yours or anybody else's. You can enjoy your pity party if you want, though.

Ha! You think I don't know that? Circle back to "I've been with this team for more than 50 years" and that should tell you how sad my situation is.

FTR: I'm not entering the season with optimism and haven't for the past decade. I'm just not going to write us off before FA and the draft are even complete. But I can understand why some feel that way.

Are you kidding me? Everyone here had the Bengals picked to go to the Super Bowl before the start of last season. These guys are all extreme experts on how things are going to turn out with pretty much everything in life....Especially football and the Miami Dolphins.

I knew the bengals would turn it around as soon as they drafted Joe Burrow.
I didn't think SB but I thought they could win the division. As for the phins I see us maybe being in 2nd place and a 9-8 or 8-9 season and missing the playoffs like usual.

I mean this will all due respect...Absolutely no sarcasm....You can always take the year off. It's an option. I've done it in the past. I'm actually going to NOT play fantasy football this upcoming season because too much of my damn time was dedicated to scoreboard and player watching. The games weren't enjoyable. I was more worried about Josh Allen scoring a touchdown against us then I was us beating Buffalo. So like I said, it's always an option dude. Take the year off. I've also done it from the NBA which I watch a lot of.

I’ve already said that if the D can maintain its standards of the last two seasons, and McD and his staff can bring about even a 5-10% improvement in the offense, it’s not beyond the realms of possibility that we could win the three games that we lost by a margin of three points or less and therefore make the playoffs.

And now, with the acquisition of Tyreek Hill, that 5-10% becomes (maybe) 15-20%.

I think Miami will be a contender in the next season.
