According to a report from NFL Media, the Chiefs have given Tyreek Hill‘s agent permission to seek a trade after extension talks between the team and player have stalled. The report adds that Kansas City has offered to make Hill one of the highest-paid receivers in the league.

The Jets and Dolphins are in “serious talks” to acquire Hill, per ESPN’s Adam Schefter.

If the Chiefs are to trade Hill, one player who could help replace him is former Packers receiver Marquez Valdes-Scantling. NFL Media’s Tom Pelissero reports Valdes-Scantling is on a free-agent visit with Kansas City on Wednesday.

Hill is entering the last season of a three-year contract extension he signed in September 2019. While his base salary is set to be $3.435 million, he’s also due a $15 million roster bonus, a $1.5 million per game bonus, and a $1.450 million prorated bonus this season. His cap number is $21.885 million.

Hill has been an integral part of Kansas City’s offense since emerging as a full-time starter in 2017. But his production has only gone up since Mahomes took over as Kansas City’s QB1 in 2018. Last season, he caught a career-high 111 passes for 1,239 yards with nine touchdowns. He had 87 receptions for 1,276 yards with 15 TDs in 2020.

Hill is a two-time first-team All-Pro as a receiver and also was a first-team All-Pro returner as a rookie in 2016. The Chiefs selected Hill in the fifth round of the 2016 draft.

RapSheet just tweeted "The #Dolphins have been among the most interested - and have not been shy about trading for one. A team to keep an eye on...

Which would suggest that Hill isn't the only option we're thinking of trading for.

I hope we stay away from this. As far as we can. We would have to ship out a player or 2 in the deal to make cap room.

The way everyone complains about picks used, maybe we'd be better off just shipping them off for a known good player instead of hoping for one to materialize.

Rams prove that works. Fear here would be what happens when he crossed 30 but this is a luxury they can afford given all the picks they have accumulated over the past few years.

This would be the Brandon Marshall mistake all over again. Tyreek Hill is an electrifying player for sure, but he won't significantly improve the team with a mediocre QB in Tua under center. Great QBs make WRs look great. Great WRs don't do much for mediocre QBs. Let teams like the Raiders or Jets make mistakes like this. This isn't to knock Tyreek Hill, it's just that the resources it will take to acquire him could be better spent upgrading the team elsewhere.

The Rams are also very good drafters. For every round 1 trade they've made, they've also made some excellent picks using their later round picks.

The trade is in place. Hill just has to decide where.

    Here's one...

Tell you what, if they want to throw in Mahomes then I'll consider Waddle.

I've also seen Holland's name attached to it which I'm not a fan of either.

In the space of 5 minutes I've gone from, having Tyreek Hill on the fins would be cool to OMG THEY'RE GOING TO TRADE AWAY SOMEONE IMPORTANT and I have no idea if that's usual fanbase paranoia or something that's special from following this team for too long.

I could see them trading Howard but that might happen either way. They aren't trading Waddle. They would have to put Grier into witness protection.

Here it is: The #Chiefs are trading six-time Pro Bowl WR Tyreek Hill to the #Dolphins, sources tell me and@TomPelissero
. The return is a first-round pick and more, while Hill gets a contract extension that puts him among the highest paid WRs in the NFL.

EDIT: I just saw from some other tweets that it's 29,50 and then a handful of 3rd day picks.

Chiefs are trading six-time Pro-Bowl WR Tyreek Hill to the Miami Dolphins for five draft picks: a 2022 1st-round pick (No. 29), a 2nd-round pick (No. 50) and a 4th-round pick, as well as 4th- and 6th-round picks in the 2023 draft, sources tell ESPN.

Too much cost in picks and cap space. Grier must be watching the Rams Super Bowl over and over, thinking he can win that way.

They kept their two first rounders next year which is all I could ask for as their future is still safe

The cap space I agree but people were just *****ing 24 hours ago that Miami didn't do anything.
