Opportunity to sack him plenty. Let's hope the league makes use of it.

Is this part of a process to get him to the 49ers? Really annoyed he waffled on retirement.

He made a comment a few weeks to the effect that “spending time with family is the most important thing, and I’ve done that for the last five weeks…”. It sounded then like he’d had enough of them, lol

Probably looked at the path to the super bowl and realised that the NFC are quickly shedding quarterbacks so his path was a lot easier.

It's not shocking really, all the greats seemed to retire and un-retire a few times before actually calling it quits (Manning, Favre, etc.). In Brady's case, he's still playing at a fairly high level and it's not really a question if he still has it.

+ his retirement probably didn’t go as he planned it, with news coming out before he said something…

Brady could have been the Dolphins QB for 3 years had a certain former coach met with him.... Maybe 2 Super Bowl wins now with the defense.

Who would he thrown to? Devante Parker and Wilson? With no running back worth mentioning and a swiss cheese offensive line.. i dont think he wins here..

    Gronk?

I don't think it's unreasonable to think he might have lured some guys, or had undo influence enough to get a real offensive coordinator. But no, we were definitely not as loaded offensively as the Bucs were, that's clear.

It's sorta-kinda true. From what I read, Brady wanted to come on as an office executive and run the team, eventually owning the team. Rumors are that he's talked to Ross extensively about it and they're now "friends". That all blew up though once the lawsuit and potential tampering came to light- so Brady un-retired and went back to football.

Maybe the goal in recent weeks has changed, but Ross is at the center of all of this.

I'd like to read whatever sources you can share. There was a rumour about Brady coming in as QB with an offer of part ownership etc. but that was water under the bridge and aside from the stuff coming out of the Flores case I've found nothing else to substantiate. It was all inference based on relationships/connections.

This latest thing has come from one guy on a call to a radio show saying he had heard that Grier was already working on the deal to bring Brady in.

Bunch of people riding the attention of the Dolphins and Grier's 'out of nowhere' trades.

    EDIT....

I posted this in another thread here. Like I said, I have no idea if there's any truth there or not. But there are a lot of details that would make sense. If it's a lie, someone really had fun making all of that up, LOL.

This article may shine some light on that- it sounds like we're not interested in Brady at quarterback. It sounds like the plan was to get him in the front office w/ Sean Payton as the HC but the Flores lawsuit messed all of that up. Sounds like Brady had to destroy yet another cell phone too since it proved Ross was tampering, LOL!

Might be total fiction, but worth a quick read: https://phinphanatic.com/2022/03/17/confirmed-tom-brady-wanted-go-miami-dolphins/

Tom Brady apparently came very close to joining the Dolphins, but here's why things fell apart, per report
It seems that Tom Brady to the Dolphins actually did almost happen

    By John Breech
    [IMG]
One of the most interesting rumors that floated around this offseason was the idea that Tom Brady might end up in Miami, and apparently, that actually came a lot closer to happening than anyone thought.

In February, Pro Football Talk reported that the Dolphins made a play for Brady, but there weren't really any details about how close the two sides might have gotten to getting some sort of deal done. Well, we now have a few more details about the situation, and apparently, things actually got pretty serious.

According to a new report from Pro Football Talk, the Dolphins were planning to bring Brady on as a minority owner and it was so close to happening that the announcement was potentially in the works for "the week that preceded the Super Bowl." The Super Bowl was played on Feb. 13.

Here's how everything apparently went down and why the plan got derailed:

    • Dolphins had a two-pronged plan for Brady. According to PFT, part one of the Dolphins' plan involved bringing Brady to the organization as a minority owner. Once Brady was on board as an owner, the team was going to try to work out a trade with the Buccaneers so that Brady could eventually play for the Dolphins.
    • Miami was going to bring in Sean Payton as head coach. The other part of the Dolphins' plan was to make a trade for Sean Payton. PFT notes that the Dolphins "privately acknowledged" that they reached out to the Saints about a possible trade.
    • The thing that blew all of this up. The Dolphins were hoping to make an announcement about Brady joining the ownership group the week before the Super Bowl, but before that could happen, the team was hit with the Brian Flores lawsuit, which was filed the same day Brady announced his retirement (Feb. 1). The lawsuit was notable, because Brady was apparently referred to in the suit, even though it wasn't directly by name. In the lawsuit, Flores alleges that Dolphins owner Stephen Ross tried to get him to tamper with another team's quarterback by meeting with the unnamed QB on Ross' yacht. According to both the the Palm Beach Post and NFL.com, the unnamed quarterback in the lawsuit was Brady and the crazy part is that Brady actually showed up for the meeting even though Flores didn't. Since Brady allegedly showed up for the meeting, this would seem to insinuate that he at least had some interest in playing for the Dolphins.
As crazy as all of this sounds, it all does line up pretty well from a chronological standpoint:

    • Brady wants to play for the Dolphins, so he announces his retirement on Feb. 1.
    • Dolphins plan to introduce Brady as a minority owner around Feb. 6 as the first step to get him as a player.
    • The Flores lawsuit filed on Feb. 1 derails everything.
    • Brady then realizes the only way he can play in 2022 is if it's with the Buccaneers, so he comes out of retirement.
Although Bruce Arians had said this offseason that there's no way the Bucs would trade Brady to another team, the fact of the matter is that they couldn't have stopped him from signing on as a Dolphins minority owner. Once Brady was in Miami, it's possible his camp could have talked Tampa Bay into trading his player rights.

On Miami's end, Dolphins coach Mike McDaniel was actually asked about the Brady rumors at the NFL's annual league meeting and he shot them down, which actually makes sense.

"Tom Brady? On the Tampa Bay Buccaneers? That has not been in the conversation [about him coming to Miami]," McDaniel told reporters at the NFL's annual league meetings. "I think that's what you call fake news."

McDaniel being unaware of any Brady talk also fits in chronologically. Based on PFT's timeline, the Dolphins' push for Brady happened before McDaniel was hired. The Dolphins new coach was hired on Feb. 6, which just happened to be exactly one week before the Super Bowl and around the same time the Dolphins wanted to announce Brady's new role as a minority owner.

If the Dolphins were going after Brady and Payton in late January only to see their plans fall apart on Feb. 1 when Flores filed his lawsuit, it would make sense for them to move on to Plan B, which would have been the hiring of McDaniel. Again, McDaniel was hired five days after the Brady plans reportedly got derailed due to the lawsuit.

Brady is definitely aware of all the speculation, because after the Tyreek Hill trade went down in late March, the Buccaneers quarterback posted a video of Hill and Jaylen Waddle on Instagram.

You can interpret that video how ever you see fit. He could be trolling everyone or he could be sharing a video of the two receivers he'll be throwing to in 2023.

Some are now wondering if the NFL should pursue tampering charges against us. I'd hate to lose one of next year's draft picks because Ross once again tried to play chess in his attempt to make a splash.

Personally, I can't help but wonder if that's why we traded away all our picks THIS YEAR. Maybe I'm reading too far into it, but I have a feeling that this won't end well for Ross.

I read an interesting article yesterday- no new stuff to report, but it talked out the Flores lawsuit and the position the league is in with Ross/Brady. If they pursue tampering charges, that strengthens the lawsuit against the league. If they cover it up, then that also sends a clear message that tampering with players like Tom Brady, the poster boy of the NFL, is perfectly okay. It's a lousy position to be in and I think the only course of action is to come down hard on Ross for creating this whole scenario.

The other side of that- Sean Peyton. If it really was a "done deal" to fire Flores and hire Brady/Peyton, how do you justify ignoring the Rooney rule? That's like a two for one violation all wrapped into one. None of this is a good look.

The Rooney Rule is handled more like the Rooney Suggestion. If you know who you want to be your head coach, just interview the assistant trainer that you've been paying an extra $1,500 per year to be ready to help you comply. I'd suggest that the Daniel Snyder situation also puts the league in a tough situation. I think he and Ross both know where the bodies are buried and will have no problem disclosing it if either is treated tougher than the other.

Yeah, he throws a lot of things in the air, knowing he can always circle back to what he got right and ignore which of the things he's "hearing" were wrong. No attributable sources, no real specifics, no meat on the bone. He was one who had Tua replaced last year and never explained why his "sources" were clearly wrong.

We couldn't just hire Payton though, he was under contract to New Orleans. Same with Brady, he was under contract to Tampa and we couldn't just hire him as an exec and then have him play QB.

This whole thing just seems ludicrous.

It's extremely far-fetched and overly Macchiavelian for me to believe. That's why the people suggesting Belichick's text to the wrong Brian are so funny. It all belongs in a Coen Brothers movie.
