Good return, though disrespectful of Parker by Miami. You don't trade a guy you think is still good within your division.

A serious shot to his junk there. I’m sure they will introduce him to billboard material in NE. Did they let him call his grandma too?

This was a huge W for Grier. I legit was hoping to grab a 5th for him.

I have zero concerns about him going to the Patriots.

    This.

Wow, it is amazing how quickly DeVante Parker has gone from being an always injured waste of money in Dolphins fans’ eyes to a great player who is going to torch the team and proves Chris Grier is an idiot in Dolphins fans’ eyes.

I’m not seeing this narrative anywhere in this thread. Several people have said they hope this doesn’t come back to bite us but haven’t seen any Grier is an idiot or he’s going to torch us.

We all knew he was a goner once the Tyreek trade happened. He’s a good WR for the 8 games he plays.

We actually got a third round pick for an average receiver that wouldnt make the roster on most playoff teams.. and at the same time made a divisional opponent worse in the process.. chris grier, are you becoming a good GM all of a sudden? Wow.

I think it's funny that people will cite team/culture for excuses why QBs aren't successful, yet apparently those aren't reasons why a receiver might underperform.

As I said in another thread, Parker is 100% replaceable by Preston Williams, but Williams is also younger and cheaper as well. Great move getting rid of a very soft WR1 that can't stay healthy.

I still honestly cannot believe we got a third for him. By all teams, the Patriots. They got a declining player who is always hurt AND gave up a 3 when they could have just signed Landry.

    I'm honestly laughing.

You would think the Patriots would try to surround Mac Jones with some speedsters.. thats what Tua and Mac had in Alabama.. and what we have basically built for Tua here. Why wouldnt you build around Mac’s strengths.. theyre trying to give him a bunch of possession receivers like they did to Brady.

Jameson Williams should be on the patriots radar.

Ha! I actually like this idea. Punter is the one void on the team, and yeah a MLB upgrade would nice, but more of a luxury move at this point.

Theres no chance in hell we roll with the same punter next season…

i said it during the season, the punter could have been upgraded at any point during the season. Any person on the street that can kick the ball in the air would have been an upgrade. But we kept our weakness and our special teams suffered and put us in position to fail. Thats on grier and flores.

I'm sure there will be a punter upgrade, just a question of whether they'd spend a third rounder or move up in the fourth round to get Matt Araiza.

We gave up a 2022 5th rounder to sweeten the pot. The draft is going to be a boring weekend for us.

Good. I can get some sleep this year!

Then again, Grier will come up with some crazy exchange based on the remaining Tunsil picks to gain 12 picks in the first round this year and everything will explode...

I'm all in on drafting Araiza in the 3rd. Why not? Kid has a left peg like a howitzer and he loves a tackle as well. He'd be an absolute boon to our special teams. Who else we going to get down there that will have such a positive effect on the team?

While everyone is excited about the 3rd, we still gave them a 5th this year. Picks the following year are generally thought of as a round higher equivalent, no. So, a fifth this year should be worth a 4th next year.

What i get from that is that we gave up parker and a pick this year which we had very litte of, to move up around a one round value in a future year.

Loved parker and always wanted him to succeed but was always disappointed every year. He needed to be traded and we got something for him, but im not all wow'd out at the value i guess. I guess it all depends on how bad the pats suck and who we pick with it like most trades lol. Not mad about it but don't know how much more we woulda got.

    Am i crazy?

Amari Cooper went for a fifth and a swap of sixth rounders so yes you're crazy to think ending up with a third is a bad return for Parker whether it's for this year or next year.

My money says it will bite us in the ***, he'll probably go to new england and tear it up, and Grier will probably waste that 3rd rounder on some scrub.

I was 100% in favor of trading him. Thought a 4th would be a good compensation, a third next year sounds good.

Not particularly worried about New England. BB is not the personnel genius he is often portrayed as, especially since Brady has left. They cratered as soon as he left, BB spent a giant pile of money out of desperation and it barely got him to the playoffs and quickly and thoroughly bounced.

Would it stun me if Parker had a stupid game against us? No. Do I think he's going to be a top WR and significantly move their needle? No.

Parker has had one very good season for us - when he had FItzpatrick throwing 50-50 balls and he stayed healthy. We don't have the offense or a QB to throw 50-50 balls and Parker is never healthy outside of that one season and isn't a YAC guy. Rewatched our highlights from last year. Parker had some nice catches, but he played 9 games, 2 TDs and never once consistently made plays in any of those games. I guarantee we won't miss him and will bet money he does very little against us

Parker has a great catch radius and I trust him to come down with the ball thrown near him. But I'm not a fan of his routes and you can't catch anything if you're not in the game. The only surprise that can result from this trade is not whether he plays well enough to earn his contract, but if he plays enough to earn it.

Adam Gase had one thing right his entire tenure and that is that Parker is soft.

You've seen a few NE receivers pass through Miami and talk about the "Patriot Way". Belichek will not let Parker believe he's special and that rules do not apply to him. If I'm being honest, he'll either have his beast season ever OR he'll be cut by the end of training camp. But either way, he won't be taking months off because his boo-boo makes him sad.
