Dolphins always win the off-season according to pundits. It's the regular season we have a problem with.

Hard to argue with what they’ve done this off-season. They resigned our 2nd best player, signed the best OL, hopefully made X happy traded for a top tier WR and signed a player that should move Jackson out of the starting lineup.

At this point, it’s how much will our 2nd and 3rd year players develop and will that be enough. Either way, at least we have some excitement.

Not bad, a little old. Before Armstead and Hill acquisitions.

I been reading articles and gave this a listen. What strikes me odd, all these gurus or analysts always overlook just how horrendous our OL is...

Just going to preface this point with, I didn't want Tua. Or, I thought we way overpaid for a broke QB. IF, we could of got Tua in the second round... then I would of pulled the trigger. We passed on Johnathan Taylor, three times...

Now, I'm afraid we going to pass on the next Derrick Henry...in Kenneth Walker... we got 2023 draft capital... I don't care about 2023...

IF Tyler Linderbaum drops down into the 20's, McDaniel needs to look at possible trade ups, like New England, or Tennessee. I really like Mostert, awesome RB. Get a stud C.

Point being, there are options we can chose IF willing and search out trade partners.

I see the OL as our highest priority. I think McDaniels does too. He set the Offense up with all the trades and signings, even the D side has been addressed. I feel the OL is the target, and that makes me happy.

I personally thin Tua will do fine. He's basically only had an extended one season of play. Get him protection along with the addressed running game, Miami will be fine with some protectors for a change...

I have no idea where I read this last week, or maybe it was McDaniels in one of the interviews he did, but I got the feeling like he wanted to bring in three total linemen in this overhaul. I have a feeling that we'll still end up with a new center before all of this is said and done.

We need to resign Gesicki. Dude wants to be in Miami. How many times have we seen players chafe and fuss about being tagged? Great attitude and he's improving. I hope we do right by him.

For those of you unfamiliar with NFL terminology, "in the mix" means he's sitting on the bench and ready to take the field at any given moment. Let's hope that moment doesn't come very often, LOL!

I believe these are all available:
    C J.C. Tretter
    OT Eric Fisher
    LT Duane Brown
    OT/OG Daryl Williams
    OT Riley Reiff
    OG Trai Turner
    RT Brandon Shell

Everyone needs to be a bit realistic about this upcoming season. The Dolphins have gone out and done a lot during the off-season. From running backs, to Tyreek Hill to the offensive line…the Dolphins have been VERY active in the off-season to upgrade the offense. That’s great, it truly is but everyone needs to remember ONE thing…

We have a ROOKIE head coach!

Now don’t get me wrong, I’m not trying to be a Debbie downer but we do need to be realistic. Look at the record of rookie head coaches their first year in the league. Typically they don’t fair that well, especially in Miami. Saban, Cameron, Sporano, Philbin, Gase, Flores. I’m hopeful McDaniel will be that lightening in a bottle of a head coach, but we as fans need to keep our expectations realistic.

The sad thing is, if McDaniel’s offense is a failure this season, all of the fingers are going to be pointed at Tannehill, er uh Tagovailoa

I’ve heard Tretter’s name mentioned a few times as a good candidate to improve the o-line. I would think he’d come cheaper than some of the others on that list, especially the tackles.

Meh. Nothing wrong with being excited about the team putting good pieces together for logical reasons. The brain trust clearly has a plan and if we're running out with a rookie HC, it makes sense to give him a roster capable of making his success possible, if not likely. The resignings and acquisitions are a hedge for McDaniel's inexperience along with the abundance of veteran coaches on his staff.

BTW: Your list of coaches didn't include Matt LaFleur or Sean McVay*. Not trying to snark, but their immediate success likely had a lot to do with McDaniel being a highly sought candidate.

*Edit: Just noticed your post said "in Miami". But my point stands.

Rookie head coaches have had some very good first seasons. It's not an excuse.

Gase and Sparano had immediate success. Both went to the playoffs in their first season.

Tretter barely practiced last year and it sounds like his injury issues are getting worse not better, which seems to be putting everybody off.

Look guys, I’m just saying…the odds are NOT in McDaniel’s favor. I hope he is one that can elevate the offensive side of the ball. I like what I’m hearing from him. I like that he’s bringing smash mouth football back to Miami. I truly want the Dolphins to pound opposing defenses into submission and I’m glad McDaniel is getting what he wants to put HIS plan into action.

I’m just trying to be realistic. For every McVay or Lefluer, there’s 5 Kotites, Philbins or Cameron’s. I truly hope I’m wrong, I really truly do but when you’ve been watching this team since 72 and seen what I’ve seen over the last 20plus years…

If that is being realistic I don't see the point of being a football fan. If you can't get pumped for this upcoming season, why even watch football?

I will never go into a season expecting failure.

You be you. Don't try to pee on my cereal.

If McDaniels isn't a good coach, then the fact he's a rookie coach isn't the relevant factor, the fact that he's not a good coach is. Which would make this another bad decision by the front office.

LOL! Nobody's disagreeing with you. It sucks that we fired our previous coach and needed to hire a new one. Most of us probably feel that way. But some of us don't see the sense in looking at the downside of an otherwise positive offseason. I can understand why you might want to tamp your enthusiasm and hope the team exceeds your expectations. But personally, I'm going into the season cautiously optimistic, hoping that McDaniel has a feel for coaching by game 5 or so.
