Just saw a post that put a smile on my face.
Someone referred to the Eagle vs Bengals game as listing the Bungles. :D
It made me wonder what other team nicknames are out there. We know, of course, the Jests, Patsies/Cheaters/Cheatriots and Jills.

    Anyone have any others?

The good natured joking and rivalry is just one aspect of the NFL that many of us love. There are other things too. I know we've got members here with some first-hand stories of time with Dan Marino and other Dolphins players and coaches. Those are always cool to hear.

Then there are other football stories, and parts of the NFL world that are also really great.

So if you're a Dolphins (I hope so!) or NFL lover, maybe post whatever it is here.

    Gifs and Memes welcome too!

    Some I like,
    The New Jersey Giants/Jets
The Flaming Thumbtacks (referring to the Tennessee helmet logo)
The Browns [said with the right intonation of despair, hopelessness, and confusion], (sad sigh).

One player/story that impressed me and stayed with me is J J Watt. There are multiple stories of how he has taken time out to help all sorts of people, but there was one particular story that was really impressive to me. A family in Houston were in a car accident where both parents died and two of the kids ended up in wheelchairs. Their aunt/uncle adopted them. JJ built up a friendship with them, visiting on multiple occasions and at one point they came up with a special celebration for him to do when he next got a sack - a sort wheelchair celebration - and he pulled it off. That stuck with me. In the middle of a game with all the adrenaline and the competition, he had those kids in mind and remembered to do the celebration for them.

For all the negatives stories that come out, stuff like this is really, really great.

I tried to find the news story/video but couldn't. There are lots and lots of other ones with JJ involved, helping kids and families, but couldn't find the exact one I was looking for.

Lots of fans don't realize the intensity of the rivalry between Atlanta and New Orleans. I liked the Falcons as a kid and still root for them against everybody except Miami. Lots of Falcons fans refer to New Orleans as the Taints since their bounty scandal, but I just change the letters around and call them the Stains. Carolina is the Panties and the Bucs are Tampax Bay.

My nephew is a Cincy fan, so of course they're the Bungles to me, and my late Pops was a Cleveland fan, so they're eternally the Clowns. I've been known to refer to Baltimore (who relocated from Cleveland) as the Crows, Minnesota (my brother's team) as the Viqueens and Seattle (for no real reason other than they win against other rooting interests - a lot) as the Seahags on occasion. My other brother is a Steelers fan but I can't come up with a nickname for them that isn't scatological and profane, so I leave them alone. He's a poor sport, anyway.

I was kind of bummed when Washington became the Commanders because I enjoyed typing WTF instead of WFT when discussing them with an online amigo who lives and dies with them. IMO, Washington Football Team was unique and should have stayed around forever. Nobody is safe.

That reminds me of a story about Kobe Bryant. It literally made me tear up when I read it. We sometimes don't realize that some pro athletes do a lot to make people's lives better. If you want to know about how special some of them are, look up their foundations and the stories connected to them. Warrick Dunn gives homes away to struggling families to honor his late mother, a police officer who was shot and killed when he was a teenager. One of the kids his foundation helped was DeShaun Watson.

    I love these stories, too.

Oh man, after reading that story about Kobe (both of them), I realized how dusty my house is.
