My gut feeling is 7-10. I think that we could start 6-5, but that absolutely brutal stretch from Week 13-17 will do us in.
I see around 11-6 or 12-5, losing to @Bills, Pitt, Cinci, @Chargers, then maybe Cleveland, Baltimore & Green Bay. Not a terrible schedule though and we may be able to steal a few early.
Pittsburgh is absolutely loaded on offense aside from QB, and their defense has a lot of very talented players as well. And Mike Tomlin has never had a losing record. That's not going to be an easy game. I'd put us down as a 2 or 3 point favorite right now.
"The Steelers are loaded on offense, besides the player that gets them the ball." Take away Roethlisberger and I'm sorry guys like Diontae Johnson and Chase Claypool become "just another guy".
I strongly disagree. Claypool was one of my favorite WRs in that draft class. I love their TE Friermuth as well, and the potential of their rookie WR Pickens. Overall, they have one of the best young collections of talent at the skill positions in the league in my view. I'm very envious.
Like Lucky said, Pitt is a pretty complete team and I try to be realistic as possible in predictions (without being too much of a fan-nerd). An example is Baltimore....we destroyed them last time with our defense. But that won't be an easy win unless that exact same defense returns and plays at the same level. Pitt is certainly beatable though and honestly, there's only a handful of games that scare me. I think it's going to be a pretty good year overall.
To a certain point, our defense "broke the code" on Lamar Jackson and exposed him as the very flawed passer that he is. The Browns followed suit in his next game and destroyed him. So, fingers crossed that the Ravens can't fix it and given that we play them in Week 2, hopefully we can do more of the same.
Nice of the schedulers to give us the SF and LA back to back, I assume we will just stay west that whole week. Having December games at Buff and at NE is a rough deal. We are definitely going to see.what Tua is made of.
For me, week 3 will set the tone for the season. The next step of our "perennial playoff contender" path is beating the Bills at home. If we pull that off, I'll be very optimistic. Heck, if we start the year 3-0, I'm going to be the homer talking about another perfect season, LOL. But I agree with you, 12 wins seems like a good baseline for our talent. The new coach though may make that unrealistic.
I do not understand this. Going from a disciplinarian to a loser coach has allowed for teams to do better. IMO, if McDaniel fails it will be mostly likely doing well next year and after that doing poorly.
Its not an easy schedule especially since i think a lot of people are underrating the jets.. i think theyre going to be competitive..
According to the schedule guy for the NFL, teams have some choice in such matters and the Dolphins requested both west coast games be back to back.
No matter how improved they are, the Jets aren't likely better than the 12th or 13th best team in the AFC at best. More likely, they're in the bottom three. The have what is being viewed as the least favorable schedule in the league by some as well. I don't expect the Fins to roll them by 30 points twice this year (although that would be nice) but the Jets are going to need three or four upset wins just to get to 6-11. The AFC is really deep. I did a walkthrough picking every game today, and came away with a first draft where the Jets, Texans and Jags were the only teams that didn't win at least 8 games. Meanwhile, I had eight NFC teams below 8 wins.
Cool… ill probably put money on the jets to cover the spread on anything 6 points and above.. thats an improved squad
