https://profootballtalk.nbcsports.c...ing-list-for-first-time-in-franchise-history/ Well I guess I am not the only sucker out there.
That surprises me since the demographic is so different in South Florida today (for those that don't know, it's practically a Latin country).
Even in their glory days, the Dolphins have never sold well enough to need a waiting list for season tickets. Until now. The Dolphins told reporters today that they expect to sell out of 2022 season tickets soon, and then begin a waiting list for fans who want 2023 season tickets. It would be the first time in franchise history that they’ve needed a waiting list for season tickets. Even with stadiums full again in 2021 after the pandemic-affected 2020 season, many NFL teams have struggled to sell tickets. But the Dolphins have been working hard at selling fans on a bright future featuring coach Mike McDaniel, quarterback Tua Tagovailoa and receiver Tyreek Hill. Apparently fans are buying what the Dolphins are selling. The Dolphins haven’t won a playoff game since 2000, and until they’re winning playoff games, it’s going to be hard to sustain fan interest. But they seem to be building something right now that the fans in Miami believe in.
I've only been to South Florida twice, but in my most recent visit in 2007, it certainly felt like a foreign country. In fact I said back then that it felt like far more of a foreign country than Scotland, which I'd traveled to the year before!
According to some info that I found online, there are only about ten teams in the NFL with a season ticket waiting list right now. (no data on the teams that recently moved). So the Dolphins are moving into somewhat exclusive territory in that respect. Of course, some of the teams with waits aren't exactly premier clubs (The Jets, Giants and Texans). The teams with the strongest fan bases have lists so long that if you were to put your name on it today, the best you might hope for would be to put them in your will for your kids. GB leads the list with 140,000 names and a 30+ year expected wait.
in fairness i tried to upgrade my season tickets to better seats this go around and i had no luck so people are definitely excited or the miami money might be scooping them up like they do heat tickets
I can't be the ONLY ONE who thought this thread was about pumpdogs selling out and becoming a Jets fan?
