I can understand if people don't care for Rich Eisen. But he's on point about Ross now trying twice to replace his QB. Don't get used to Tua in South Beach.

If he tears it up then it won't matter. They won't get rid of him if he makes the playoffs this year IMO.

You're forgetting the particular nature of this beast. We just fired a coach after posting back-to-back winning seasons. If McD's offense works the way it's designed, we won't necessarily win because of Tua, but with him. That might be enough for Ross to push for a swap. Especially if Tua's detractors continue to provide cover for change.

Dolphins would then be winning due to the new coach. Clear and valid reason to get rid of the old coach. It seems pretty obvious the players really enjoy the current atmosphere.

"Ross intentionally tried to ruin Flores's career by what he was asking, and he also wasted the career of countless players on those early teams."

That seems like a really odd comment considering the owner was trying to get that same coach what is considered the greatest QB of all time.

Heh, funny you should mention that. On an episode of The Shop, Brady made a comment that he was being recruited by a team and that the franchise ultimately turned him down. His exact words were, "You're going to take that MFer over me?"

If you think that through, it sounds like we had Brady as our QB in 2019 but the team decided to go with Fitzpatrick instead. That makes me wonder if the plan was to tank all along, or they sort of threw that together at the last minute when they couldn't get the coach/player combos they wanted.

Or maybe the whole plan came together on the Tunsil offer, who knows. I go back to that first press conference though where Ross said Gase was leaving because he wants to win now. I kind of think we did Brady a favor when we passed on him.

It would have been 2020 and not 2019 and Brady would have known the Dolphins were going to draft a QB and not really sticking with Fitz so it doesn't really make sense.

Its certainly Jimmy G because we know he wanted to go there and they actually did pick Jimmy G over him but I don't think he specified that it was a QB so its possible he was talking about Flores. It does kind of make sense if Brady was offended by Flores walking away from the tampering meeting. It was definitely Jimmy G though.

Hmm, that's possible too- the MFer could have been Flores. With Jimmy G, that feels like a stretch to me. I could see Brady wanting to go to San Fran with that offense that was developing (ironically, under our new head coach). Because remember, Brady retired the same time Flores filed the lawsuit, it was within a day or two. Maybe we brought in McDaniel to make it more appealing for Brady, who knows.

But then you have the Peyton angle, Harbaugh, etc...we really were playing a house of cards. I have a feeling that plans A, B, C and D all failed within days of each other and we were scampering for a new plan. I'm just happy we landed on what we did though, I'm really excited for this season.

It was reported he told Wes Welker he would go there and the 49ers decided he wasn't much of an upgrade.

I feel like it didn't get enough attention because that is an all time blunder

Late to the party on this one... but Stephen Ross is a complete idiot. The sooner he's gone the better off we'll all be.

That being said, for the NFL's punishment on this franchise to be essentially more severe than that for Deshaun Watson is quite the big issue here too.

Can't have nice things here with an idiot like Ross around

On NFL Network this morning a short piece on Goodell addressing the team owners over the Dolphins/Ross tanking. Apparently the gist of what Goodell had to say was that although there was clearly no tanking that happened with the team, and it definitely didn't happen, one thing all owners need to learn is that they need to be careful with their words. Saying things like, "it would be good if we could improve our draft position" could be taken to mean that the team shouldn't try their hardest, and so all owners need to be careful what they say.

Translation. Please keep it all on the down low. We really can't have this stuff getting out.

Ross and Grier need to go, Beal as well. The circus that is the dolphins organization has to stop, enough already, how many more years of disfunction must we endure?

And as I said before, the trade for Tyreek was a desperation move to try and makeup for all the other terrible decisions they made. As much as you guys like to believe off-season hype, we are not all of a sudden going to become perennial playoff contenders because of Tyreek.

The rule set for becoming a billionaire and being a successful NFL owner are not the same. Ross is obviously used to bending and breaking rules as he sees fit. That might work in corporate America where money talks, billionaires can literally buy elections and politicians, and change laws as they wish. It does not work the same in the NFL where you have organized labor and players/coaches have set up rules to protect themselves. Ross is just not used to not getting his way and buying who and whatever he wants.

So it's 100% our pick that's been forfeited right? It's not a case of whichever of our first round picks ends up higher?

I mean if the 49ers somehow go 0-17 this year, we'd still have the no. 1 pick?

Don't quote me on this, but I heard we were losing multiple draft picks six months before it actually happened. I believe we pulled the trigger w/ Tyreek to prevent that from happening this year.

One other thing to keep in mind, this was all a domino effect from Watson to Brady to Peyton to Harbaugh to Tyreek. One failure set another path in motion and it was all being accelerated due to the Flores lawsuit. Miami knew the bomb was going to drop sooner or later, and I personally feel like Grier out-maneuvered the NFL most of the way.

Take that for what it's worth, I've hated Grier since day one, but I think he did outstanding this offseason given how many high profile names were in play. I am also glad though that we landed on Tua and McDaniel, plus all the offensive additions we brought in to compete this season. It had to be incredibly hard to pivot that many times in a 2-3 month span...that's not generally how things work.

    So we have

    49ers 1st
    Our 2nd
    Our 3rd
    Patriots 3rd (Parker)
    Our 5th
    Bears 6th (Grant)
    Our 7th

I think I got the details right from the Tyreek deal in there.

We also have no extra future picks left at this point which after the last few years seems wild.

So we're hoping Lance has the worst year going and Jimmy G is gone by the time the season starts right?

Grier is good at wheeling and dealing and pulling off blockbuster trades. That's about the only thing he is good at as a GM, the problem is his wheeling and dealing never amounts to any significant success on the field when it counts. He made some flashy moves this off-season, but I don't think we are going to turn into super bowl contenders any time soon.

I'm not sure. I do think we're playoff contenders anyway and I could see this team getting a playoff win or two this season. Maybe they don't go all the way the next few years, but this is the most excited I've been for a season in about 15 years.

Now wouldn’t THAT be something? Karma doesn’t usually work that way for the Dolphins, but we can dream, can’t we?

PS. Rumor has it that the Browns are interested in Jimmy G if Watson is suspended for the year, so Lance would have the opportunity to bomb without a safety net.

    This penalty is a joke.

Apparently the sanctity of a contract reigns supreme over all else in the NFL.

Saints; Intentionally run a racket where players are paid bonuses for an entire year if they successfully injure an opposing player. Literally a bounty against the health and safety of the players. Meh 2nd round pick.

Patriots; Break the rules by intentionally and illegally spying on other teams practices. Bringing the integrity of the game and NFL competition into disrepute. Meh 3rd round pick.

But never speak to someone with a contract…. My god, That’ll be a 1st and 3rd.

They literally could have cheated AND maimed opposing players. And the penalty would have been less.

    Okay NFL.

Those teams were also fined millions of dollars too.

Although, I agree. Ross did something that most every team does. He was ratted on is the only difference.

Oh, and Tom Brady took a mysterious leave of absence yesterday...AKA hide untile the heat dies down. All good there.
