Good start there, crazy how much speed we have flying around this team even with a lot of the major names missing.
Bucs have picked up momentum in 2nd series. Pass rush not as effective so far. Some bad team play with missed tackles, players getting in one another's way.
I liked Darden coming out of the draft. Good catch by him. Some sloppy play by us during that second Bucs drive.
Man, I hate preseason football. I can't get too mad when we allow big plays because I know personnel and schemes are scaled back. Then, I can't get too happy when good things happen for the same reason. One thing that won't ever change will be my desire to come out with a win or feeling as if we would have under normal circumstances. BTW: I'm impressed with Thompson in his first game. We're gonna lose him like we lost Reid Sinnett and that's a pisser.
Think about it as our uniforms against their uniforms and it's easier to compartmentalize. But yeah, exhibition football is hard to get into. And watching other teams play is like watching your neighbor's kids.
I'm not the only one who compared Thompson to Reid Sinett: https://www.palmbeachpost.com/story...ch-could-force-decision-dolphins/10268118002/
Fun to watch the Dolphins play again…and win, but gotta keep in mind that is was preseason…with 2nd and 3rd…and even 4th stringers playing. I was actually impressed with Thompson. Big kid, strong arm. Made some really decent throws, some with quite a bit of velocity. He did make a few I’ll advised throws but all in all, I thought he played well. I can actually see a true competition for backup between him and Bridgewater. The OL was what you would expect for a preseason game…not that good but have to keep it in perspective…preseason. Hopefully the line will look more solid with the starters. I was actually surprised to see Preston Williams on the field with the fiasco he’s caused. He needs to be traded as soon as possible to at least try and get something for him. I was a little disappointed the Dolphins didn’t try to run the ball more. I think towards the end of the game, the lack of actually running the ball negated the effect of the play action pass. It was a preseason game. Run the dang ball and give them more reps at these plays…but then again, preseason and not the starters. Defensively, the Dolphins took a quarter to wake up. Sure, they shut down Tampa’s first series but after that, these backups looked lost for a while. Glad that we don’t have to travel all over the country for preseason so next week’s game against the Raiders should be an interesting game to watch. Hope we see more of the starters and how well they execute.
im just glad that the offense had some sort of rhythm, which is rare to see on the first game with a new head coach
Both are guys with developmental upside who would be ideal PS players, but likely plucked thanks to good performance in exhibition games. In an ideal scenario, Tua excels this season and Thompson would serve as his backup in 2023.
Cedric Wilson and Lynn Bowden stood out of offense. Tanner Conner peaked my interest a little. The entire run game was concerning. But that Defense is centred on stopping the run and no Edmunds or Mostert, so not alarmed by the lack of productivity yet. On defense Keon Crossen showed up and it sounds like that is right in line with his play during practices. Vern McKinnley is a much more physical and hard hitting player than I expected. Laid a few big hits. Sam Eguodeven always makes plays when given opportunity. Preseason heroics from last season are continuing. Hope he makes the team again. In general the defense wasn’t very sharp and the pass rush depth appears to be lacking (beyond the obvious vets, who mostly didn’t play)
Until I see more of the starters it's unknown. The running game needs to be there for sure.Hard to evaluate early.
I thought the pass rush was mostly pretty good. They got pretty good pressures and a couple of sacks with just basic pass rush for the most part. I thought Sam Eguodeven had a pretty terrible game. Lucked into a good play by Hodge who played really well. Tanner Conner intrigues me. I want to see more of him. Disappointed that Cracraft didn't do anything. Didn't even look to get open.
A look at some OL play from the backups on Sunday. Take a look. He focuses on Eich and isn't super happy, but worse was Coleman. The guy in the video suspects he's getting cut. What do you think, agree, disagree? (Language warning)
