Good opening day win! I'll take it, but it had the same old Dolphins feel to it. We're getting by on short, intermediate passes but it can work IF the defense holds their own on the other side. Eventually Tua is going to have to win us a game with his arm. It didn't come to that today, maybe next week? Who knows? As long as we're winning games, it's all good.

That 4th and 8 was very smart- there were 18 seconds left (which somehow became :24 at the snap) and we were midfield. If we failed, the Pats had the ball at midfield for one play to get in field goal range...exactly the same as we did on 4th and 8. So why not sling the rock and cross your fingers? It made sense for us to take the shot instead of them.

Win is a win and I expected this week to be tougher than it was. Was exactly the offense I saw coming. Going to need some real game time before this offense gets moving. However not very happy with TUA's performance after all the offseason hype and he's looking great etc. Sure some of it can be laid at the OLine which wasn't very good IMHO, but Tua made some bad plays and got lucky they didn't cost him especially in the 2nd half. Defense looked good. Need to shore up the screen / 3-5 years catches better.

McDaniel had a good gameplan for his first victory against a division rival and he showed some real balls on a few plays. Hope he continues to improve.

Again a nice win, but we have lots to improve on. Worried for next week. I don't see how we stop Lamar he looked great again today. Yes it was a bad team but they will be home and we need to control the ball more and defense to win next week.

    1-0 Nice start

When did Jackson look great today? Other than a couple of plays he looked like the same clueless quarterback. He looks totally disinterested.

He's a classic play from ahead quarterback and that's what happened against a truly horrible Jets team today.

As for the Jets, Salah might not make it through the season.

Need to go out and add to OL via unsigned guys or trades. 3/5 guys lost too many battles. QB was chucking and ducking as a result. Still: clearly outplayed and outcoached them in all 3 phases. Onward.

I will say this...In regards to the first week of the season, not every team hits the ground running. Joe Burrow threw 4 picks today and I think 100% of us here would take him on this team over Tua in a heartbeat. We all saw the Rams look way out of sync Thursday night. Some of the bigger name players in the league had off games as well. The Browns beat the Panthers in a game where Jacoby Brissett looked better then Baker Mayfield. Other teams looked exactly as everyone thought they would look. Look no further then the Ravens/Jets game...It went exactly as most of the world thought it would go. Philly looked good right out of the gate against the Lions. On the other end, we saw the 49ers struggle against the Bears in a game where Justin Fields still sucked. I don't know, some of this isn't too hard to predict while other events you just never saw coming.

In regards to our team, I think this went about as predictable as it could go in terms of how we win. I did see it being a much harder earned win. We're lucky they were never really ever to get their run game established because it would have been a loss if Stevenson and Harris carved us up. In the end I think we won the same way we've been winning over the last three years now. With our defense making plays, our field goal kicker hitting on his looks, and Tua playing conservative (yet non dazzling) mistake free football. I do think our games will still be decided on if our defense can make any plays for us. At some point though...Tua is going to have to win a game for us by himself. Until he proves that he can do that, we're nothing more then a team "in the hunt" for the playoffs. I know it's not an ideal situation, but a big part of me wants to see Tua win us a game all by himself just to put some of the concern at ease.

never said that Jackson looked good. Out Oline is still a problem but I’m going to give this staff an opportunity and time to make adjustments. Also we need time to gel! However my mindset has always been buy an offensive line and. Groom 1/2 long term

OL is still a work in progress. Was never going to get fixed by opening day. I read somewhere Tua last season avg 2.52s on time to throw. Today he was at 2.92s which he never came close to last season. So the OL is playing somewhat better. Still got some brain dead moments, but I'll give it a few more games.

Picking up half a second to start the season is big. If we can get another half a second in season through either further adds/trades/scheme/coaching/guys learning the system with the WRs ability to create separation and QBs accuracy on the short to intermediate game it could be a very potent offense. And potentially get the run game going. Id like to see McD deploy 88 more. He was a ghost today.

A conservative game plan dictated by Tua's limitations. Hill coming to terms with the fact that Mahomes isn't his QB anymore. The OL deficiencies continue to be a convenient excuse for Tua to hid behind.

Not trying to make any excuses for the team in yesterday’s win but just a few things to consider.

Practice is practice. You can learn a new system and perform well in practice but, it’s not the same as game play.

With the new 17 game schedule, there’s one less preseason game and let’s be honest, when you’re sitting and resting your starters during preseason, that’s less actual game game they have to hone their skills, especially under a new system.

Look at yesterday’s game as thei last full dress preseason game. The team will evaluate the game in its entirety. I see the Dolphins actually improving from their performance yesterday…provided the right side of the line can actually block

Tua simply needs to make a decision to get rid of the ball quicker when the play isn't there. To his credit he is always trying to make a play happen but sometimes the play is to just throw it away and kill the play. That seems to be where nearly every mistake he makes comes from.

The Oline is still a problem. We still had guys blowing thru without hardly being touched and they weren't generating any real push in the running game. They have to get it fixed.

The offense is still learning the system it seems but that is typical when a new head coach comes in. Typically takes a few games, but I think once they really get it, the play on the field will be special.

The defense looked good yesterday. We are still not very good stopping the run but the defense did not look like that mess we had on the 7 game losing streak last year. I hope they can keep it up because they need to.

All in all I thought it looked like the 1st game of the season and we can away with a big Divisional W to start the season. And that is Big!

Chase Edmonds definitely made some plays out of nothing in the fourth quarter to solidify the win.

This offence is def a work in progress. But Hill was a stand-out. And as the ****ty Colour-guy pointed out several times. He was open on many plays where Tua opted for the safe play.

There were too many 3rd down plays where Tua held on to the ball too long. The O-Line will need to improve.

I'd like to think that the Patriots aren't "that" bad, especially on Defence. We'll see against the Ravens.

The Pats defense did a pretty decent job covering in some of those instances that Tua held onto the ball.

For me the troubling thing was that Tua at the end of the game didn't display very good situational awareness. It seemed like he was going to make a play come hell or high water to prove everyone wrong for what they were saying all off-season. Having chip on your shoulder in one thing, but you can't be reckless. In both of those throw aways, it would have been better to take the sack then to force something. The clock would have continued to run which is what you want. He almost looked over hyped up. Throwing balls into the ground that were routine, desperately trying to make plays when there was no need for desperation. Hope it was 1st game excitement/jitters or whatever but he's got to be more situationally aware in those instances.

They were passing way more than I felt comfortable in the last 10 minutes of the game.

The Pats needed two TD Drives in the last few minutes, it was unlikely that was going to happen based on how they had been playing. You just needed to manage the game.

They pulled some First Down's out of their *** on the last drive before the did the Victory Formation. Classy of McDaniels not trying to run up the score. That drive drive turned into Garbage time, you could tell the Pats had thrown in the towel once it got to 2 minutes.

I am happy that Miami finally has enough talent that the quarterback doesn't always have to make the perfect decision or pass for the play to succeed.

As much as we're going to micro analyze everything.

Isn't it nice that this game was Done and Dusted by the 4-minute mark and the game was over so we could all watch the Bengals and Steelers be ****ty over and over again?

I'm used to sooooo many Dolphin wins where the last two minutes matter, either they have to make a huge stop or kill the clock, neither were much of a concern in the last 5-10 minutes of the game.

    It's refreshing.

Also refreshing was that we didn't get outcoached, and that's against Belichick. I have a feeling we won't be getting outcoached very often this season. More like the other way around is more likely.

PS. Watching MNF; Seattle has 2 rookies starting at tackle, and Denver is getting no pass rush from the outside. The guy we moved up for has a dead red rating in the chart above. Just sayin’.

It's our Achilles heel, Grier is probably the worst GM in the league at drafting linemen.

Thing is, the left side played well. If we had a right handed (throwing) QB, it wouldn't be nearly as concerning. Having a southpaw trusting his blindside to a sub-par RG and RT is a recipe for failure. And of course, Jackson is now injured.

    Grier can't draft OL.

This is what I don’t understand; signing Armstead was a good move, but RT is even more important with Tua out there, and they put one of the lowest graded OL in the league last year at that key spot. Easily the most puzzling move of the offseason.

What are you even talking about? That was certainly not a conservative gameplan. Looked to me like we used Hill alot like he was used in KC. Motion behind the line, get him in space somehow, get him the ball quickly and let him make things happen all while having him use his speed to keep the Defense honest to hit them with quick comebacks and have him stretch the field to give room for others to work as well. Call it conservative if you like, but I don't think that's the right word at all given the 4th down conversion, albeit there was no real negative to not going for that but still a gutsy call that none of our previous coaches/OC's would have made. We tried to stretch the field at times, but the lack of protection didn't help. I didn't see anything that implied we gameplanned around Tua's "weaknesses". Come on. You can not like the guy if you wish, but don't make things up either. What did you expect we'd do when we got Hill, just throw 40-50 yard bombs all game? There were big plays to be had on Sunday that were just missed. Week 1. New offense. New coaches. New system. New WR's and RB's. New guys on the OL. Give it time. Also, remember we were pretty one dimensional on Sunday with the lack of a running game yet again, so that is a challenge for any QB and results in having to resort to some short quick passes to pick up some easy yards through the air because you can't pick those up on the ground. Maybe that also lead to some of this "conservative" offense you think you saw. Seems to me you're reaching here to pin that on Tua without any real facts to support your point.

Hill coming to terms with the fact Mahomes isn't his QB anymore? WTF are you talking about? Where did he say anything of the sorts or even complain? Sure he was frustrated on the field at a few missed opportunities, but that's every player on Sundays when they get open and for whatever other reason don't get the ball, it happens man! Come on, stop making stuff up again.

OL deficiencies a convenient excuse? Our OL clearly was outmatched Sunday at most times. We had no running game despite having two quality backs now in Edmonds and Mostert. That's a bad OL, Jackson got hurt. Armstead missed time also I think. Little came in for JAckson then also missed some time. Fact of the matter is our OL wasn't good, and that made us a one dimension offense yet again. So while you think it's a convenient excuse, most of us that have a clue and try to be unbiased here know that's just the reality of the situation Sunday. Wow, you're really letting your bias show now with this one, but it was already pretty clear IMO.

I'm certainly not a Tua defender by any means, I try and be as objective as I can with his play. In my mind he has alot to prove still and sunday was a small step in the right direction for the most part but you're just really going out of your way to stir the pot here IMO because nothing you said really adds up.

Just an absolutely perfect throw in a clutch situation. Very encouraging to see. Tua's accuracy really on display there but we should know by now that accuracy is a strength of his. Great job by McDaniel, Tua and of course Waddle on this one.

People think all Hill did was run go routes 70 yards down the field every play in Kansas City. If you ever watched a Kansas City game, Mahomes rarely throws the ball deep, he throws a lot of short passes. Alot of them.
