Busted plays happen all of the time. When it happens with big name quarterbacks like Brady, Rodgers, Mahomes, everyone sings praises…or at least doesn’t criticize those quarterbacks but when Tagovailoa hits a wide open receiver on a busted defensive coverage, the negative Nancy’s still rear their heads.

Does Tagovailoa have some limitations? Sure, I won’t argue he has a cannon of an arm like other big name quarterbacks but it would sure be nice…for those who claim to be Dolphins fans, that maybe…just MAYBE this kid is actually quite good. He just needed an offense built to his strengths and not always pinned against the wall with no support.

Anyone want to admit they were wrong in saying he cannot play elite? This doesn’t mean that he always will, or did before. But can we at least drop the it's impossible he is too limited narrative? You can still complain about the next dumb interception, or pass he underthrows.

For some, winning isn't everything. I'd like to know the percentage of Dolphins fans who didn't cheer when Waddle caught the winning score. I'm betting it was at least 15%.

I was concerned that he didn't have it in him, but I didn't say he couldn't until halftime of this game.

I love this team...Been a fan since 1989. This was an epic comeback and win today. This is something I haven't seen this team do since Marino was here. I'm just really enjoying it right now! For the people that don't like Tua, that's fine...They can keep on not liking him. For me personally, he showed me exactly what I have been wanting to see from him as far as taking the next step. Yeah...He threw 6 TDs, Nick Foles threw 7 in a game. But it was the way that he brought us back that really impressed me. What he did today was absolute greatness in my book. He's taken a nice step forward. I was ready to call it a season at halftime. I was so frustrated with the way everything had gone, with the way he had played and then he really shut me up. I look around the league and every quarterback struggles. Even the great ones. Russell Wilson has looked awful in his first two games as a Bronco. I'm still not betting against him. I don't think I'll bet against Tua for a while now.

Still yet to come down from this one today. The one thing though that I learned today is I don't think we can count out Tua any longer. I think he's still going to get us into trouble at times, especially early on this season as he adjusts to this new system. However a win like todays really does alot to instill confidence in the team itself and the fanbase that we're never really out of a game anymore with this QB, this offensive core, and this head coach. That can do alot for a team and fanbase. Doesn't mean Tua is the long term answer just yet, but this is the biggest step he's taken and it's what we all wanted to see. Nothing looked good at halftime. Tua with two poor decision INT's, a defense that couldnt stop anything, special teams blunder to start the game. Nothing was good, but one thing we've always seen from Tua was the bounceback drive after a poor play. Today he put it together not just for one drive, but for the entire second half. That's encouraging signs of growth. I think there's still physical limitations that will cause issues moving forward, but if he plays within himself and his abilities and the offense continues to cater to his strengths and the strengths of our WR group we can see some great things here in Miami with this unit. Consistency is what we need to see now, and as I said last week I think what we need to start seeing is consistency, and less mistakes from poor decisions. That should clear itself up as he gets acclimated to this offense, but today starts to at least feel like we're finally on the right track with Tua.

Yeah he was in his sixth year. If Tua can deliver games like this for us, then I think we have a very good chance at getting to a Super Bowl with him at some point in his career.

Here's an example of the insanity that surrounds Tua. Mina Kimes has trashed him for two years and took time to smear him after last week's win. Today, he had a great performance and instead of admitting he had a good game, she put all the credit on his receivers. Fair enough, but who believes Mina Kimes could name any of last year's receivers besides Waddle? If his success is due to his roster, doesn't it stand to reason that his previous performance was at least influenced by his limited roster? Like a lot of Dolphins fans know, you don't have to suggest he's all-world, but how hard is it to admit that passing for 6 TDs, 469 yards and a 124.1 passer rating is pretty good?

So let’s forget about all the other stuff the idiot above ^ said and focus on the last part! . What a statement game for Tua! I can’t remember the last time the Miami Dolphins have been losing that bad and turned it around. Forget about the Buffalo game, please make room on the superstar Tua bandwagon for me, I’m in!

  21. have to admit good 2nd half Tuba. I don't care for how he looks, always seems a bit downy and he will never be Herbert. Butttt, he seems to be overcoming his bad genetics and lesser bloodlines. We still go 8-9 but at least he didnt play ret*rded as usual.

Yep. I've been saying I wanted to see something, and I saw something today. Finally.

It can't be the only time this season though. He doesn't have to have those stats every week, but the offense needs to look dynamic like that more often.

    Fingers crossed.

It was a historic game and easily might be his best effort in a long career. The best takeaway for the offense today is that teams are going to roll support to mitigate Waddle and Hill, so it should open up opportunities for other targets and help the running game. It's up to Tua and McD to recognize who is in a position to take advantage of the defensive adjustments this game will create. I doubt we see anything close to this from WR1 & WR1 again, so it's up to everybody else to get open. Oh, and it's up to QB1 to spread that ball around. I like Tua, but he really has to make people pay by getting the ball to Wilson, Gesicki, Smythe and others. The offense really has a chance.

I agree with this. But if teams are making those throws difficult, give it to the guy who's open. Ultimately, that'll spring the stars even more. If Tua's really going to be the Guy, he needs to make the right reads.

    I'm a Tua skeptic / hater.
I was wrong. He did things i didn't think he could do. The OL gave him time and he dominated the game. Very proud of Tua because I really love the human being now I'm hoping to love the football player. Great glimpse of what could be, something I didn't think was possible.

That's the thing about having 2 WR1s, you can't easily just double or roll that. You can't have 4-5 defenders on two players. I mean, you can, but ...

It would be nice to see the running game really take off though. Overall, as was said, this could end up being Tuas best statline for his career. But as long as he regularly keeps us dynamic and in the game, we will be ok. All QBs have the occasional dud or weak game or bad effort. Even the best usually lose 3-4 a year and sometimes even a W comes from defenses or special teams more than offense. But we can't go back to last year's 19/27 for 168yds and 1td/1int stuff. Keep the pedal to the metal and get the ball in the hands of the playmakers.

I don't think we'll see a return to last year's numbers because the line seems more capable of giving Tua more than 2.3 seconds to get rid of the ball. And although I'm stoked by the game, my excitement is tempered a little by the memory of Tannehill throwing for 431 yards against the Cardinals in his rookie season. He was never that guy, so without trying to throw water on the current fire, even if Tua's as good as I want him to be, yesterday's game will be an outlier effort. More a reminder of what happens when you don't quit than a predictor of future performance.

Tannehill also threw 1TD and 2 INTs that game. Tua had 6 TD's and 2 INTs.
Tua did some stuff that was very exciting to see, all predicated on the OL giving him Tom Brady time to throw.

I thought he would panic but he was patient, set his feet and made the right throws.

This was a big step in his development and if he keeps it up he could be the guy.

So apparently, since the 1970 merger, only 3 QBs have thrown 7 TDs in a game (that's the record). Those are Brees, Foles and Manning. Since 1970, only 26 have thrown 6 TDs (including Tua). Only 5 QBs have thrown 6 TDs twice in their career: Manning, Brady, Rodgers, Roethlisberger, Mahomes.

So there's the goal: Tua just has to throw 6 TDs one more time and he's in elite or near elite company (Roethlisberger isn't in the same class as the other 4 but he's very good).

Ravens share the record with the Lions for being on the receiving end of this mess 3 times. Peyton threw 7 TDs against them in 2013, Roethlisberger threw 6 TDs against them in 2014, and Tua 6 TDs against them in 2022. However, Ravens actually win this race because all 3 with the Lions are 6 TDs against while the Ravens have a 7 TD given up lol.

As far as Tua's 469 passing yards that ranks 48th all time since 1970. Record is 527 with Schaub and Moon. Burrow is 3rd at 525 (once again against the Ravens last year).

I, like all Dolphin fans, are hoping it is a turning point. IMO, the first six quarters of the season Tua was trying to do everything and to prove he is the man. Which just caused him to be in his head too much. The big lead by the Ravens looked like it allowed him to relax because all they can do is just score one touchdown at a time and just see what happens. Then Tua just starting playing and enjoying football. The final two quarters looked like the Tua I saw when I watched his college highlights and got excited about drafting him.

Mike McDaniel said as much. Instead of working on improving everything, just work on improving one thing a game.

The line also deserves a lot of credit. They played much better this game than any game last season. Mike McDaniel deserves credit. Both for his offensive game plan and his ability to just stay cool. He pretty much said he was using the second half as a teaching moment and it really worked out. Play 60 minutes and see what happens. What happened this time is that Miami pulled out a miracle. I am more convinced that Mike McDaniel is going to be a coach for Miami for a long time.

You could almost see Tua getting better as he got more used to McD's system during the game, especially in the second half.

It was almost as if it had taken a game and a half to learn the new playbook, and it all came together during the last 30 minutes of the game in Baltimore yesterday.
