Sometimes players get thrown to the ground and are OK. Others get concussions. It's not the same for every player. He's been injury prone throughout his career. His small frame doesn't play well in the NFL.

I'll tell that to Drew Brees and Kyler Murray.

Its explicitly against the rules to slam the guy like that. It was a dirty hit

I was reading something about how it could have been a pinched nerve. The fact he didn't stay at the hospital, lose consciousness, ect...We'll see.

The fact that he's flying home with team, makes it seem like it's not a concussion. I thought you can't fly with a concussion. You could be right.

It's kind of confusing, but reading the protocol, I don't think that necessarily means he suffered a concussion. Seems like he will be monitored for post concussion symptoms that may show up.

Herbert has taken some big hits, never been concussed or missed significant time. It's also not as easy to body slam a guy like Herbert as it is with Tua. Burrow missed one season because of blowing out his knee on a freak high low sack, but he came back and played all of last year and took them to the Super Bowl. He also played multiple full seasons in college.

Tua has yet to play a full season either in college or the pros. Not comparable at all.

I’m not going to pretend to know much.
But the fact that after the injury he didn’t know what happened and was asking McDaniel what the result of the play was…. I would assume concussion.

Scary play regardless and wishing all the best for Tua and his health.

Also, I'll say Brees would have thrown it away and Kyler would have ran out of that pressure.

Tua is no Kyler physically. He needs to know his limitations and throw it away. We've seen him do this throughout his career.

Unfortunately for him, he is done as an NFL QB. In would be criminal negligence to ever let him play a game again.

He will 100% play this season so that is ridiculous however if were to get concussed again? Different story.

Joe Burrow lost his chance to win the starting job at Ohio State due to... an injury. Then, he missed most of his first NFL season due to injury. But, whatever.

Some of you are too much...WAY too much! I knew this would happen if the Dolphins lost...and with Tua being injured as he was just makes the rancor that much worse.

Your biases cloud your judgement. Your biases amplify your prejudice. I'll say this and then let it go...

Tua shouldn't have been playing last night...
Xavien shouldn't have been playing last night...
The Miami Dolphins...nor the Cincinnati Bengals shouldn't have been playing last night...

In the pursuit of the almighty dollar, the NFL has intentionally placed the players' health and safety in jeopardy...caring more about profits than the players. I've never been a fan of Thursday Night Football and personally feel it should be cancelled.

I hope with what happened with Tagovailoa last night, the NFLPA and the league discuss this seriously but sadly, I'm afraid its going to take someone getting killed before they cancel TNF.

Every QB in this league (sans brady) misses time. Is qb durability a concern? Yes. Is it exclusive to tua? No

Tua's injuries are a concern. Both the hit last night and his hip happened becuase he didn't get rid of the ball when outside the pocket with nothing there. His int also. He needs to make smarter decisions and protect himself.

Why? Because he got slammed into the ground by a defensive tackle and got a concussion?
What about MMA fighters or boxers who get knocked out, should they never be allowed to fight again?
I'd imagine the only way he doesn't play again is if his neck is injured. I'm not trying to downplay concussions and his was a serious one but if players start retiring after one then the league is going to look empty after a couple of seasons.

  26. Poor genetics, limited natural athletic ability, fat in the hips and thighs, narrow shoulders, just a bad genetic bag for the realities of the NFL. Cant protect himself. Good skill set but just was failed at genetic level. Throw in low cognitive ability and unable to process things fast enough. Holds ball too long, cant evade.

Feel bad for him as he phases into retirement. Most smart people onew it would end this way. But its better now than him using a sippy cup in 20 years.

Look forward to evaluating the position for the draft. Next man up.

Looking at it on replay, it was not a normal tackle, but it also wasn't so bad that he should seize up like that. If you look at the replay it looks like his shoulder took most of the impact, not his head. He must have still been suffering from last week's concussion for him to concuss again so easily and severely like that.

That was severely underthrown, even for Tua. He usually maxes out at about 55 air yards, but he only got 47 air yards on that one.

Excuse me doctor, but he didn't have a concussion last week according to real independent doctors hired by the NFL.

I'm glad we have so many doctors, medical professionals, sports psychologists, physical therapists on this site though. I really know where to get my information from.

I’ve looked at it and had a think about it but I still can’t see why his career would be over.
Is Kamara Usman never going to fight again after getting knocked out by that kick to the head?
Just curious as to what the difference is?

Go on try. So getting slammed to the ground onto your back in full protective gear and your head hitting the ground in a helmet is worse than someone kicking you in the head or punching you repeatedly in the head until you lose consciousness?

Both are head trauma except you are claiming it would be gross negligence to let the guy who was in protective gear to play again.

Tua does not have the body type or frame to absorb hits like others can, anyone denying this fact are insane.

drew brees had a stronger frame than tua, he also knew how to give his body up and land. He had to, to make the big bucks you got to learn to fall appropriately. Its a business decision..

and dont get me started with Kyler Murray.. that guy is possibly the most athletic quarterback in the nfl. He too has a stronger frame.

tua’s frame is similar to Pat White and you all remember what happened to pat white when he got hit.. dont think hes ever played in the nfl since

That is silly. Tua has about 10 pounds on Brees and about 15 on White. Brees made quicker decisions and threw the ball away. That is what I want to see Tua do.
