so the baseball schedule came out for next season.....my favorite team the marlins, are going to boston june 16th - 18th.....a dream of mine is to see fenway park.....let alone see a game there played with my marlins anyone from the boston area with advice on hotels? resturants and possible money saving secrets?? thanks everyone.....much love!
In order to get tickets at Fenway somebody needs to die. And the person inheriting those tickets does too. Either that or you're gonna shell out a ton of cash.
yeah man. you really need to find someone that's desperate. honestly, the only time i was ever offered face value tickets was th day of, a few hours before (turns out it was the night of the no-hitter this season and i turned them down, boh) but anyway, yes i know many red sox fans who will take a trip to toronto or baltimore, and altogether the trip costs (including transportation, lodging and food) are STILL cheaper than just the price to go see a red sox game/series at Fenway. I lived in boston for 4 years and never went to one game. while i sorta regret it, i really don't, because i'm much happier with all that cash in hand.
Boston tickets are kind of hard to come by. Not Grene Bay Packers hard...but hard nonetheless. You can either pay through the nose for a scalper or plop down the day individual game tickets go on sale and pray.
oh yeah......im going to boston regardless......100 percent irish, always wanted to go.....ill just watch it at a bar if I can't find tix's any help would be awesome!!!
I'd check out the Red Sox thread in the Other Sports forum. Some helpful guys in there who know their team well. I'm sure they'd have tips on getting tickets. Even if you have to pay a lot on ebay, or stub hub, I think it'd be worth it. GL
as far as places near fenway, while crowded, the boston beer works right across the street is pretty nice, they have a bunch of home brews that are delicious. actually at that time of the summer they'll probably have their Watermelon Beer available, which is surprisingly amazing. and actually, they just opened up that bar out in center field too where you can grab a table and watch the game from the outfield wall. I never got to go there but I heard if you show up early enough to get a table with a view that its pretty cool, and that way you can avoid ticket prices too. also since you've never been, you could check out Jillian's right by there, but its nuts on gameday. I think they have one in charlotte though so i'm sure you've experienced that already. if you're out at night in the fenway area jake ivory's is pretty cool, they have dueling piano's going with lots of covers of modern songs those are some of like the really mainstream popular bars in the area, so if you want something quieter/probably cheaper you can branch out from there, there's really a ton of bars all over, not hard to come by. as far as lodging i can't really help you there, never stayed in a hotel in boston. let me think on food places a bit i'll get back to ya on that
Stubhub or try the sox website and ticket office look. Dont mention youre a marlins fan. just fudge one and say youre a sox fan from florida who never got to see the team play so theyre more inclined to help you in the ticket office...I speak from experience on traveling to road stadiums and trying to secure tickets for the visitor
Just don't pose as a Sox fan and say "It's been a dream of mine to see the Red Sox play in person, I can't wait to see Manny hit one deep......."
The Red Sox hold around 200 tickets to sell on the day of the game at face value. Granted, some of the tickets might be standing room only (the right field roof standing room is a fantastic place to watch a game, giving you a unique view of the park while offering what is essentially concessions and bathrooms in a bar-like setting). Regardless, that is an option that will get you into the game at a reasonable price. You have to get to the Fenway ticket office early (about 4 hours prior to the game on a weeknight, earlier if we're talking a weekend game) in order to ensure you're one of the first 200 people in line, thus getting your pick of the available tickets. It has been mentioned before, and I will reiterate it, going to a Red Sox game in Boston is NOT cheap, for example: the face value of a standing room ticket is $30. Anyways, you'll have a great time. It's an incredible place to watch a game, being so close to the action. However, some of us locals can't wait for a new stadium, because as you will discover it is extremely small and uncomfortable. If you have any other questions, drop by the Red Sox thread in the other sports forum, as there's a few guys who frequent there that will have completely different perspectives.
thanks bro...im pretty excited....hell yeah ill get there early as crap for the day of tickets....maybe ill get lucky (they are weekday games) and get a seat somewhere....
Just don't purchase seats or standing room tickets on the monster. It's a complete tourist trap (I'm not kidding). You'll pay through the nose for those tickets and unless you're in the front row, you cannot see a majority of left field. The people writing articles on ESPN claiming they're the best seats in basebal are completely full of it. Hope you have a great time. Also, make sure to hang out around Fenway, it's like a party on Yawkey Way and Lansdowne street every night before and after the game.
Maybe I shouldn't ask, (and don't take this the wrong way) but why do you have to go next year? I mean Fenway will be there for a while, and I recall recently you talking about moving, switching careers, buying a new vehicle. I know you are a new husband and father, and I just think a year is pretty far away at that, and I don't know if you should be spending the money right now for something that will definitely be there in the future. Like I'd love to go to a fins game in Miami, but I know the time for that will come. What do I know though, I myself am in big debt from school, so I don't know if I'm in position to give financial advice.
thanks for your concern bro....But this isn’t just a trip for me…..my dad and brother are going also, we are all gunna split the cost, we are driving so itll take away flight costs, and we plan on staying outside of boston so its cheaper, also I will be taking my week vacation that week so I will be getting paid while I am there, and fenway may be there every year…..but the marlins wont be, last they played them was 2003 I think, so this is a once every 5 year thing. My son will be 1 and ½ and my wife just started working at a plastic surgery office, so we have double the income now….so this is very do-able for me now! Plus my review is in march, so I will be 98% chance getting a raise! So its perfect!
