Any more excuses for Tua's good play? lol.. I hope Pauly can't continue that list of his.

Tua had his 3rd consecutive 130+ rating today and now has a league dominating 118.4 rating for the season. Unbelievable!

I picked a bad time to quit Twitter. I can't imagine the deafening silence on Dolphins Twitter right now. Or who Mina Kimes, Skip Bayless, Stephen A. Smith, Chris Canty, Keyshawn Johnson, Colin Cowherd, Chris Simms, or Mike Tannenbaum are choosing to verbally abuse in his stead.

I was expecting to be able to use “It’s all Hill and Waddle”, but they were relatively quiet today. Maybe “see he can’t avoid good pass rushers and we know he’s fragile”, but Miles Garret didn’t get home against Tua.

I’ll need to scour the net, but the barrel seems close to empty.

Does any reasonable and prudent person still believe Tua is “the problem” with this offense?

This thread has officially run its course and is completely irrelevant.

Every week shows Flores for what he is ... a defensive coordinator/position coach.

I keep hearing and seeing him linked to other jobs and just shake my head. This dude was sitting on Tua and doing everything he could to sabotage a franchise Qb and running out some of the least working and unimaginative offenses in NFL history and that deserves another shot? Absolute insanity that the offense was that bad last year.

It is amazing what a coach focused on offense that actually has a clue (lookin at you Philbin, and Gase) can do for a young QB. Amazing what can happen when you built around that young QB. Of course these new weapons have helped Tua progress into what he is today and guess what folks; that's not a knock on Tua because that's true for every other QB that's been successful in the NFL. They do it with a great TEAM around them, especially their weapons on offense. That being said though. Tua's decision making, quick reads, ability to get the ball out quick since coming back from injury, along with McDaniel's brilliant offensive scheme is the perfect recipe for winning. It's what we've always needed, it's what any young QB needs and we've finally found a coach able to help put that all together to instill confidence in that young QB. It's amazing to watch what's been happening.

I normally don’t give much stock to these kind of runs because if you play enough games eventually some rando (eg Jay Ajai and 200 yards games) will achieve it, but I’m guessing the list of QBs with 3 consecutive 130+ passer rating games is both short and filled with impressive QBs.

Not sure what that tweet is claiming (I think they're only talking about Dolphins players), but the most impressive run of 3 straight games in terms of raw (unadjusted) passer rating I can find is by Aaron Rodgers in 2011 where he had 3 consecutive games with passer ratings of 140+!!!.. 146.5 against Minnesota, 145.8 against San Diego, and 140.3 against Minnesota. His TD-INT in those games were 3-0, 4-0 and 4-0. So Aaron Rodgers is the man to beat, at least in terms of raw passer rating.

Another noteworthy one is Kirk Cousins having 3 consecutive 138+ ratings in 2019 and 300+ yards passing in all 3 games. Rodgers didn't have 300+ yards passing in all 3 games. Tua just missed out on the 300 yards passing part with 285 today.

Attempts don't really matter as long as it's above some bare minimum like 10-15ish. Passing attempts has close to zero correlation on win% in the last 20 years. What's really impressive are the passer rating and TD/INT stats, at least from what matters for winning.

Totally agree that the 30+ attempts caveat is an irrelevance. I’d be happy to take the threshold down to something like 7 attempts in honor of Bob Griese and the 1973 Dolphins. But, damn, how good was Rodgers in 2011?

Steve Young had 3 consecutive games over 120 in 1994, which adjusted for era might be equally impressive. However Steve Young’s most astonishing run in that season was 7 consecutive games over 110, and only 1 interception against Washington prevents it from being a run of 11 games over 110.

Yeah 122.4 rating in 1994 is 4.57 z-score relative to the distribution of team passer ratings while 140.3 in 2011 is 4.31 z-score. So Young's 122.4+ rating is slightly more impressive. That season for Young was the single most impressive in NFL history (SB era) efficiency-wise with a z-score of 3.57. Rodger's 2011 was "only" 2.91.

What's impressive with Tua's 2022 season is, because the standard deviation in team passer rating this year is so abnormally low at 8.4 (usually it's more like 11), Tua's z-score currently is at 3.49. That's only a tad below the all-time record of 3.57 by Young. We'll see if he can keep this up!

Imagine if Tua fumbled a snap with less than 1 minute in the game and threw a game losing interception when in Field Goal range?

But it wasn't Tua. It's the fashionable choice for MVP Josh Allen.

Which should be Tua now, TBH.

Literally the only thing people can criticize Tua on is his inability to his Tyreek Hill in strike over 40 yards. He did throw a long bomb to Hill that didn't connect, but it's not because it was short, but because he was double covered.

Stephen A. Smith, coming up with reasons to say Mahomes is his MVP conversation. Don't get me wrong: I'm not sure Tua would be my MVP because Cheetah's also in the conversation. But people like this idiot go out of their way to find reasons why they think somebody else is better. Meanwhile, you can tell he hasn't watched the game. Since opinions are like a**holes, we can all tell what the "A" stands for in his name.

That's the thing, good (even great) quarterbacks DO in fact have a bad game from time to time. It's not out of the realm of possibilities that Tua has a bad one in the next few weeks. We do face San Fran and they have a great defense so that's basically the game I'm picking for him to struggle in. I am in full agreement though with you. The very second he throws a pick or has an off game those people will absolutely be back on this forum trashing him along with anyone else that defends him or supports the team.

Chris Simms, throwing shade while trying to act like it's praise. Video starts at the point where he proves he doesn't watch the games to form his opinion. He says Tua's throwing to wide open players constantly but he's been throwing players open all season.
