We should keep track of Hill's stats. He's on track to set some records here. The most receiving yards in a 16 game season is 1,964 yards by Calvin Johnson in 2012. That's 122.75 yards per game. That's 2nd all-time in the SB era only because Wes Chandler, who only started 8 games in 1982, had 129 yards per game that season. Hill now has 961 yards in 8 games for a 120.125 yards per game average. At this rate, over 17 games he'll have 2,042 receiving yards. So Hill is on track to be in the record books for most receiving yards in a season, even if it's unfair he gets to play a 17th game. Hill only needs to average 111.6 yards per game to get that record. For Hill to beat Johnson's 122.75 yards per game over a 17 game season, he needs to average 125.2 yards per game from here on out. To beat Chandler's 129 yards per game, he needs to average 137 yards per game from here on out. This is doable!
Dude is so dominant. Hopefully he smashes all the single season receiving yard records. Then doubles down on the haters and says ‘Tua’s accuracy put him over the top in comparison to past seasons.’
Not just that, but he put up 160 yards and 177 yards in the Cinci and Minn games, meaning he’s putting up those numbers no matter who is throwing the ball to him.
I'm just amazed watching him. I mean, I knew he was good. You know that just from seeing the highlights of his time in KC; pretty special. However to watch him every play for an entire game is just incredible. The things he can do with his body and athleticism is pretty impressive; especially at his speed. He has no slow gear. He makes phenomenal contested catches, he's always moving and it's usually forward. He's doing something special almost every play; pretty incredible player to watch especially when you see the effect he has on the offense as a whole.
The only knock I have on him is sometimes he runs backwards, but he's so fast he usually makes up what he runs backwards for.
Still got some ways to go. Im sorry I just don't care anymore for personal accolades when this team has been consistently out of the playoffs. Its great for him I guess and a way to get more money but if it don't help our team win a championship I really don't carer anymore. I Kinda feel like we're back in Marino days where our offense is pretty good but we can't run constantly and our defense is giving up to many points. Remember all those 8-8 9-7 years
Yeah but it's precisely through players like Hill that you build a championship team. Not many championship teams are devoid of superstars, especially at key offensive positions. So Hill doing well increases our chances of making the playoffs. These aren't independent of each other. Certainly we wouldn't be 6th seed at the moment (with half a season to go of course) without Hill doing this well.
The crazy part is that it's doable for Hill and Waddle at the same time. They're both getting 100+ per game with Tua on the field...sometimes WAY OVER 100 per game.
This is without the finest receiving duo I can ever recall seeing on any team...and I've seen some phenomenal WR duos over the decades
Theyre just unguardable, if you try to take away one, the other goes free. Best receiving duo in dolphins history.. With that said, if some team calls for Wilson… they can have him… hes done absolutely nothing for us and is probably the worst signing of the offseason..
Edmonds as well. I know our running game hasn’t been what many of us had hoped it would become but let’s be real, every time Edmonds touches the ball, it’s a dead play. Trade both
Really disappointed in Edmunds. Had high hopes for him, really likeable guy. Mostert is far exceeding my expectations. The oline is mostly at fault for the run game woes, imo.
Call me crazy, but on several runs yesterday, Mostert was looking like a power back?!? He'd slash for 3 yards and then drive for 2-3 more. No idea what team he came from, but they clearly messed up letting him go. He's the best RB we've had since Ricky. For Edmunds, I'm trying to have a little perspective. I know he's super smart with a huge football IQ. I also know he's not getting many reps because Mostert is dominating. Hopefully he comes around in the next several games. That run up the middle on 4th down a few weeks ago when there was a gaping hole off guard/tackle left a very bad taste in my mouth though. How does a high IQ guy not run the play as designed....that frustrates the heck out of me and I know the coaches had to preach that in film study the next day. Everyone did their jobs except for him.
Did you see Clayton and Duper? What would they be able to do in todays game? They lit it up when they could be mugged.
Like most others I knew Hill was good from his time in KC and that he was fast. I never appreciated just how good a route runner he is as well and how good his hands are. He's the complete package. It's the same for Waddle. Not only is he fast but he's a great route runner as well. It's that combination we haven't seen here in years. Sure we've had fast guys like Ginn and Wallace but they weren't great route runners, that's what makes this combination so scary. Not only can they run past you but they can also break your ankles, it's getting to the stage it's impossible to cover them both.
Edmonds is weird. I think something just happened to his head. Like he is thinking too much or putting too much pressure on himself. Before this season he had 3 drops in his career. He has 5 this season. Hopefully he gets out of his slump.
I know we all have said McDaniel should have kicked the field goal on that 4th and 3 against Pittsburgh but as it was pointed out in another thread, had Edmonds hit the hole between Eichenburgh and Armstead, he would have footed the 1st down. His running and decisions have just been terrible.
Not 100% sure about this, but as far as I can tell the most receiving yards by a WR tandem in NFL history is by Herman Moore and Brett Perriman in 1995. Moore had 1,686 yards and Perriman had 1,488 yards for a total of 3,174 receiving yards. First of all, how is it possible that Detroit is #1 on the list for most receiving yards by one WR (Johnson) as well as by a duo, neither of which is Johnson. One would think Detroit is like this great passing team or so historically lol. Anyway, that's 198.4 receiving yards per game. Hill and Waddle are right now at 1,688 yards in 8 games, or 211 yards per game. So Hill and Waddle are on track to beat the best WR duo in history, at least in terms of receiving yards. Waddle on his own is #4 right now in total receiving yards, but the contest is really Hill vs everyone else. #2 on the list is Diggs with 764 compared to Hill's 961. Really impressive.
I saw that too, but have a hard time tying up cash for that long on even money bets. I did grab Hill at 25/1 to lead the league in receiving yards. There were like 12 players with better odds… Including guys like Courtland Sutton and Michael Pittman.
At this pace Hill and Waddle will put up around 3500 receiving yards between them. If they do that they will have more receiving yards than quite a number if teams.
Update on Hill. He had 143 yards receiving today for a total of 1,104 for the year. He only needs 107.6 yards per game to beat Johnson's record, but that would be over 17 games. Over 16 games he'd need to average 123 per game. Hill is on track to do this!

I guess one unfortunate side effect of a great running game against Cleveland was Hill only adding 44 receiving yards to his total. Hill's total for the year is now at 1,148. He needs 117 yards per game over 17 games to beat Johnson's record, or 137 yards per game over 16 games. Still on track but a bit more difficult, at least over 16 games.
No one cared about 14 games vs. 16 for season records, so it shouldn’t bother us if it’s 17 games rather than 16. Didn’t Waddle break the rookie receptions record thanks to the 17th game?
85 more receiving yards for Tyreek. I guess that's one downside of putting up too many points early lol. He's now at 1,233 for the season. Needs 122 yards per game to beat Johnson for most receiving yards in a season (but over 17 games), and 147 yards per game to beat him over 16 games. Looks like 16 is unlikely now, but he can still do it over 17 games.
Fun stats but it isn’t going to happen. We have the hardest segment of our season beginning next week against good defensive teams. I don’t think he will achieve 122 per game I’m guessing he might average 75-100 per game just falling short.
The thing with receiving yards is that they’re not very consistent game to game. It all takes is one or two monster games and he’s back on schedule.
If our opponents tackled as well as our secondary he’d have had half a dozen TDs like that this season.
One tiny bright spot today was Hill had 146 yards and is at 1,379 for the season. Needs 11 total yards to break Clayton's record for most receiving yards by a Dolphin in a season. Needs 118 per game to beat Johnson's all-time record in a season, though with 17 games. Still on track for that one. Would be nice to have a few statistical wins along the way.
