And, I agree he doesn't have a stronger arm than Allen or Herbert by any means. It doesn't mean his arm isn't NFL caliber.

Yes. Correct. As I noted, throwing deep loopy balls with your feet under you isn't indicative of arm strength. EVERY QB can do this.

Actual arm strength is throwing hard when your feet aren't under you, when you are running and throwing, and you have to rely on your arm for velocity.

You provided entire game highlights. I'm asking for you to identify which pass alleviates concerns regarding his lack of arm strength.

They seem to have absolutely no idea what a strong arm looks like.

Yeah. This is the problem. You think this is indicative of arm strength. It isn't. It's a deep loopy ball that Tyreek actually had to slow down to catch. This is a pass every QB can make. Arm strength isn't this type of pass.

The fact that you call that a loopy ball and ignore the fact that Tyreek Hill is the fastest receiver in the league who often has to slow down to catch passes from Patrick Mahomes says it all.

There was nothing loopy about that past.

This is what you got? An 18 yard pass with his feet under him and stepping into it? Unsurprisingly, you guys are struggling here.

Ideally, I want my quarterback throwing the ball with his feet under him.

Sure, but the point I'm making is arm strength is measured on off-platform and throwing on the run.

Every QB can make the throws you are showing. An 18 yard pass with perfect protection and the QB stepping into it. This is basic. Unsurprisingly, this pass is in the middle of the field.

Tua is not going to be the guy rolling out to the sideline and throwing it across his body if that's what you consider arm strength. I would rather my quarterback not do that.

I know Chiefs fans that cringe everytime Mahomes rolls out.

We don't live in an ideal world smart ***, sometime your QB has to make the hard throws off platform and off script in less than ideal situations.

Not a Tua hater at all, simply someone that sees the truth and does not choose to ignore it. I like Tua the person and hope and want him to be great.

One can throw a long distance when everything is correct and centered, when off that center is when the arm comes into play. Hint: QB's are not often centered on their throws.

Well Tua isn't going to be doing a lot of things because he doesn't have the arm strength for it. He's a small pocket passer that needs his feet under him, good weather, and to throw to the middle of the field to succeed. Folks can blame McDaniel for not changing the game plan, but you can only hide Tua's lack of physical ability for so long. Smart teams and defenses understand how to get Tua out of his comfort zone. As I've said before, I'm surprised it's taken this long.

It's up to the coach to adjust to the defenses taking away Tua's strength. Our running backs and tight ends had 1 catch last night as opposed to 14 by the Chargers. We pressured Herbert and he took the short pass all night, as bad as a coach Staley is he finally got one right.

McDaniel got outcoached badly last night. And, no I'm not making excuses for Tua he looked like he had no clue last night.

Tua looked a guy determined not to check down. Saw multiple times he could have thrown to the flat and he refused to even look that way. When Waddle is doubled all night and Hill is held all night, you have to take what the defense is giving you. That's my biggest complaint about the offensive side of the ball. Not running on a D that gives up 150 a game was #2 complaint.

We pressured Herbert and he rolled out the pocket and made strong throws. Tua cannot do this, and didn't really need to because he wasn't pressured at all. On top of the arm strength, it's just an angle issue. It's very difficult to make passes to the outside from the middle of the pocket.

If you re-watch plays last night, there were guys wide open, and he was forcing throws into receivers. I don't think it was a McDaniel issue. Guys were open.

Like look at this play where Tua throws to the sidelines to Waddle. Basically, before the ball was snapped, he knew where he was going, AND this was on 3rd and 2!

You have 3 guys on the left wide open for the 1st down:

Then you have this guy WIDE open over the middle:

....and Tua basically throws the ball out of bounds to Waddle. The whole play he didn't look to anyone. He was just locked onto Waddle. This is the problem with Tua at times.

Come on tacos, they have no timeouts there with one minute left in the game down two scores. Throwing the ball to the middle of the field does no good there.

He could have thrown it to the flat for a 1st and gotten out of bounds. The problem is he didn't look and was pre-locked.

The situation called for a quick score. He has Waddle one on one on the sideline, if I recall Waddle didn't even look for the ball.

    He didn't look anywhere else. He's pre-locked.

He had a bad game, it happens. Time for them to adjust.

They can't adjust. Nothing else fits Tua's toolset.

Flores offense was short quick passes in RPO. Good for completion %, but not for offensive points. McDaniels offense is speedy guys running through the middle and passes in the middle. If you want to start rolling Tua out more and throwing to the outside more. You are going outside of what Tua is capable of.

Did I miss something? The argument is being made by other posters, still, that Tua does not have a weak arm.

    He does.

Is someone arguing that Tua's arm can't pay on the NFL?

Defenses have taken away the middle of the field and are forcing Tua to throw the ball outside and he can’t because he doesn’t have the arm.

They have no choice but to return to the dink and dunk high school offense under Flores.

Na. It wasn't 4 months. NE knew in the 1st game. So did the Steelers. Cincy shut him down before he was knocked out. The teams Tua did very well against (Houston, Cleveland, Chicago, Detroit) are all bottom 25 defenses for a reason.

That's not "wild". If Tua checks it down to the flat or throws it across the middle and that guy gets tackled in bounds it wastes 20+ seconds on the clock and you would be killing him for not getting it to the sideline.

That play that was posted is the absolute worst example of the point he was trying to make.

Not true. He had the guy in flat open who could have gotten to the sideline for 1st. The ball was going where the ball was going before the snap.

Not really semantics. He had the 1st down with a throw to the flat and could have stopped the clock. He had a guy WIDE open over the middle where they could have been at 1st and goal and spiked it. He did neither and threw the ball out of bounds.
