Free Agency is just upon us, and with the lack of draft picks and various holes on both sides of the ball what is your most pressing position and or player you are hoping we get? Were current about 16Million OVER the cap so were going to have some issues or need to cut and restructure a lot of players to get some needed pieces. This is a really important time for the team. We're going to have to hit some major home runs to improve this offseason and with so little drafting oppetunities Grier and McDaniel has to step up. Also toss into the mix that Vic didn't sign on to not get some say in his defensive players and he's going to want to get some pieces in free agency. What is your priority and how active do you think we will be in free agency next week? I think were need major help at Cornerback, Right Tackle, and Linebackers.
Dont think thats going to happen. The guy's only good trait is he is fast with decent size, but he has zero instincts or skills other than that. Looks like another wasted pick by grier.
I have one guy that I would heavily target: Dalton Schultz. I think he is the guy that would take our offense to the next level and fit what McCoachin' is looking for. A lot of people on here said corners - they are right. There are gonna be a ton of RBs available, so I am gonna definitely be shopping that market looking for bargains. Maybe use South Beach to entice someone at a friendly deal. Backup QB is gonna be a big one for several reasons. I think that this is an area where Grier needs to earn his money. You wanna not only get a viable option, BUT you want to get a viable option who is willing to go under market value for a year or two. I would sell this position as, "Tua's health issues are no secret. If you come in here, and he gets hurt. You are the starting QB with Tyreek Hill and Jaylen Waddle. You might be Daniel Jones in a year if you play your cards right. I would bet that a couple of QBs might be willing to bet on themselves and take a team friendly deal.
I don't think with our weapons we need a strut TE in free agency. I mean Id wake him but we have more pressing needs no? Also sure he would be commanding a big salary and unless we can offset with releasing both of our TE's and going with just two next year Im not sure it's worth it. We gotta fix the defense, we also need a pass rusher that can actually get to Quarterback.
Interior OL. CB Backup QB, I really like Gardner Minnshew, as I think he’s a scheme fit, but I don’t know about his availability. Teddy and Skylar just didn’t get the job done.
With the severe lack of cap space and a whole laundry list of needs, unfortunately I'm planning on being depressed and disappointed this offseason. But if they could somehow make the money work, I think that TE Dalton Schultz would be a huge addition. He's a much, much, much better and cleaner receiver on short and intermediate routes than Geskicki, and I think that he could be a huge help to the team as Tua's security blanket to move the chains over and over.
The salary cap is like the matrix- while we know it exists, we have no idea of the actual rules there or how it works. There are unlimited ways to get around the salary cap and I think we'll be active in free agency (like we always are). I wouldn't sweat that too much.
As you were saying: https://www.cbssports.com/nfl/news/...g-26-million-in-cap-space-for-potential-move/
Okay, here is a relatively unpopular opinion around here, but I think the defense our defense is great, but our coaching was abysmal last year. I legit think that this is a top 10 unit AT LEAST. Do we need to make so adjustments? Probably. I think that we are looking for pieces that move the needle. Ross is out there writing checks, and cap space has opened up.
I think new coaching can make the line great, and staying healthy can make the secondary close to great. I still believe that we need new personnel to make the LB corps great, however.
Left guard.. vet quarterback to backup tua.. lots of vet qb options that would be a significant upgrade over Bridgewater… we need to look at cornerback obviously and linebacker.
I imagine lots of quarterbacks are going to have their agents calling Miami. They know what Miami has to offer (waddle, hill).. and they know about Tua.
I am for concerned about our opponents passing games. Honestly, I do not fear the Patriots at all, and they are essentially a running team right now. The Jets are a running team, but when they get Rodgers, I will be more concerned about them passing. Gimme corners all day.
Corners if optional. Try to find a young guy that still has some untapped potential. Sadly another player on the Online would be nice and of course an upgrade at the Linebacker position.
Hunter Long and a third. Wow, cheap. At least in terms of compensation. The cap space is not lol, but it's not my money.
Now that Ramsey has been signed, if we can find one or two competent LB's and we stay healthy this defence is going to be top 5 imho. If Grier somehow manages to persuade Poyer to sign on the cheap as well he will have killed the offseason already. For me we still need to target LB, OL and TE probably in that order.
If we’re going to take someone from the Bills, I’d prefer it to be Edmunds. Dude is a great MLB and he’s only 24.
WHERE THE HELL IS OFFENSIVE LINE HELP GRIER? A lot of the best OL players are already being taken. We have DEPTH and starting issues that need addressed unless they want to lose TUA by game 2.
The price of OL has been insane. Denver gave McGlinchey basically the same as we gave Jalen Ramsey. I can understand why they have sat out so far.
At this point, just need to address LG and RT. Could do that in the draft. Would like to see a mid round LT drafted for when Armstead goes down
So we're going to go with average cheap OL players to protect our injury prone QB. Im concerned they are going to ignore a MAJOR issue we have and it might cost us again this year.
average is much better than what they have. Plus that injury-prone QB is excellent at pocket movement if there is a pocket to actually move in.
I agree it's a major issue but they made some guys who they got off the street last year look decent. If they can get some average OL and coach them up like last season the line should be ok. They also still seem to be high on AJ and Liam for some reason, maybe it's Grier pushing his picks or maybe the coaching staff see something in there. Still I hope we pick up a solid LG and RT from somewhere.
Most GM’s can find good OL starters in the 2nd and 3rd rounds. If you’re speaking to Grier, then you’re right.
