Since we picked up Tuas option and will have him for two more years under contract can we not trade him to baltimore along with a few picks next year and have them trade Jackson to us? Could we not work out a new contract with him and save ourselves 2 years of maybes with this stacked team and save ourselves from having to pay 100 million to Tua if he stays healthy? This would allow Baltimore to have a starting qb this year since Jackson will sit out most likely and it will give him a contract he wants and we get a proven qb with a Super Bowl ready team minus the QB. why can’t this happen?
Because McDaniel has his nose so far up Tua's a$$ he can't breath. And Grier badly wants his 3 1st rounders to not all be busts. Ross to clean house next year, and maybe make Fangio head coach.
You don't want to pay Tua $100+ million if he stays healthy and put up the similar numbers to last year, but you do want to give Jackson $200+ million guaranteed and he is just as much as an injury risk than Tua? Not to mention Lamar Jackson only fits one type of offense, a Lamar Jackson college style offense. Tyreek Hill and Jaylen Waddle would be rendered useless. There's a reason nobody wants him, even the truly quarterback needy teams.
thanks coach seems to think he’s got a plan but for the life of me why the hell wont they protect him??!
In short - because this isn't Madden. More detail: It would be ludicrous to give up a player like Tua, and draft capital and a LOT more money to take on a player who isn't a better passer and also has injury concerns.
Why do you think the contracts each player has been offered is so different if they are the same injury risk and Tua is better?
The original poster said $100 million. I added the "+", because if Tua balls out this year the contract will be closer to $200 million. And for the record, the $200 million is what Jackson is asking for, nobody has put that number on him hence why nobody wants him.
According to Ravens, they've offered, "$133 million at signing, $175 million if he got injured, and $200 million springing guarantee if he is on the roster on the fifth day of 2026 league year." So again, if you think Tua is the better player AND the injury concerns are the same. Then why wasn't Tua offered something similar?
The 1st thing you've written in a long time that makes sense. Except for the fact the Dolphins never offered Jackson that kind of money.
Don't know, but I can almost guarantee you it's in the works. https://www.google.com/amp/s/www.si...ion-a-possibility-despite-durability-concerns
That's an old article prior to them picking up the option. I'll help you out though. They don't have the same injury risk moving forward. It's not similar in the slightest.
A quarterback that wins with his legs and has missed games due to multiple leg/knee injuries is not insignificant.
Because Tua still has two seasons left on his rookie contract. Why would we offer him substantially more? Why would any franchise do that with a player on a rookie contract? It sets a terrible precedent.
Regardless of injury risk do you think it makes any sense at all to give Tua a mega deal now? We have him on a rookie deal giving us a small window to keep the roster intact while keeping the franchise QB. When a franchise QB gets his big payday the rest of the roster will suffer. It's not about a lack of confidence like you're insinuating. The fact that they picked up the fifth year option was all we needed to see he's in Miami's long term plans. You might as well accept Tua will be here for at least two more years.
I like tua but not sure we seeing the same game tua has been good 1/2 a season Jackson has been good since he was a rookie
I didn’t say offer him more. We picked up his fifth year so he’s a fib for two more years on current contract. I said sign him and trade him to Baltimore who will have to sign him in 2 years to a multimillion dollar deal with question still unanswered
Exactly. Giving a qb a mega-raise three years into his rookie contract would have 30 owners as pissed at Ross as they were at Haslem for giving Watson all that guaranteed money - which, ironically, is the reason for this drama with Jackson and also this thread.
Isn't that what the Chargers are working on with Justin Herbert? And Philly with Hurts? If you believe in the player long term, you'll save by spreading out the money when you have leverage in the contract.
Did Tua steal your girlfriend or something ? Your hatred ( yes. It's hatred) , for Tua knows no boundaries. Now you have Ross cleaning house because McDaniel is all in on Tua. You're funny.
What do you think happens next season if Tua shows he's not it? You got the coach that loves Tua, and the GM that drafted him and drafted 2 other 1st round busts in the same draft. No hatred here. I would hope someone loses their job. Grier historically pretty good at shifting blame.
What happens next year if Tua IS it ? Would you say you are dead wrong or would you say : yeah but, but.....weapons around him are talented, not Tua". Our HC is extremely pleased with Tua going forward so don't take it personal if I take his professional evaluation over yours. And don't embarrass yourself and say you're rooting for Tua and hope he's it. You want Tua out of Miami ,period. Perhaps Tua's success would diminish the chances of YOUR team being successful? Especially if that team is a division rival.
Running backs don’t last long in the nfl. When those hits catch up to him, he’s a very below average passer. No thanks to everything about him.
So you think Tua is going to have a top 5 QB type season and stay healthy the whole year? Like what's the "IS it" scenario for you, or is he already there for you?
After reading post #2, people are still unsure of a troll being a troll? About as red flag waving of a troll post as there is.
We don't know, do we ? Well, apparently you do but the rest of us don't. What I DO know is Tua is QB1 and that's not coming from an opinion standpoint. You have no choice but to root against Tua just like the rest of us have to root against Allen, Jones, Rodgers(?) . .....
They are, and it's a mistake. The best time to build around a QB is when he's dirt cheap on his rookie deal. You give Herbert $40M a year at this point and that team will really struggle to make the playoffs with him. Different scenario for Hurts; you pay that man and you're letting a few vital veterans walk away. Maybe they're the same team, maybe not. But paying it two years early is a recipe for disaster.
And what if Tua balls out again next season, we win the AFC East, Tua is a finalist for league MVP and we make a DEEP run in the playoffs, if not the Super Bowl? Are you going to have all of these petty criticisms or actually admit we have the right people in the right places at the right time? Just asking
