Kyle Crabbs talking about the joint practice and a couple of other interesting things in today's LOD pod.
Achane is gonne need to get a good amount of reps to change up what the chargers did to us Mcdaniels needs to run more and he needs to implement a semblance of a screen game… geez And Tua needs to either run the football when there is clear space in front, or check down to achane or berrios
To be fair, McDaniel admitted he neglected the running game last season and promised to address it much better in 2023. I guess he had so much success going downfield, he got caught up and decided to go with what worked. But he was supposed to have been a huge part of why the Niners' running game was successful, so let's hope he finds his way back to that.
Too much talent in the backfield to ignore the ground game. And that was BEFORE Achane (and possibly Cook). Putting the fear of a rushing attack in the defense would make the passing game better. But Coach knows this.
I don’t agree that there was too much talent in the backfield before Achane Mostert and Wilson showed they are not a threats out of the backfield, the weakness was e widener from training camp last year when both couldnt catch a wheel route to save their lives, and it showed up in the regular season as well The unit needed a multi threat player, they got one so they need to use him to pose the threat to the defense
Well, Wilson ran for 4.7 YPC for us and Mostert had 4.92 YPC. Given the deficiencies of our OL, I'd suggest that both are talented with carrying the rock, if not when trying to catch it.
I agree. I think McDaniel oddly abandoned the run more than he should have. Call me old school, but I’m still a firm believer if you run the ball and keep that defense honest in stopping the run, it opens up passing lanes for big plays.
IMO, when the offense was humming along, he consistently got 15+ yard plays. I think he got in the line of thinking that if he calls a 15+ yard play 3 times, he is most likely going to get a first down and there aren't many running plays that get 15+ yards. I think he just thought that would work and didn't build in the other plays to help those 15+ yard plays
Those decisions - and the multiple tries on 4th down - were clearly indicative of his inexperience. The question is whether he'll learn to either be more conservative or to dial up plays more likely to convert. Literally, the only area that worries me about him.
Lot of buzz today about Achane again Safid Deen saying “ all I’ll say is 28 is gonna be a player” Berrios continuing to uncover from everyone
Eichenberg being tried out at center. It would be great if he was competent enough for us to switch Williams to RG. Of course, I'm not getting my hopes up.
It's hard to believe some people saw the helmet camera and immediately assumed it was proof of Tua being derpy.
I think you mean switching Williams to LG. If memory serves, that’s what he played in Dallas and why we got him. Williams was competent as center, but would have excelled at LG. Eichenburgh on the other hand was horrible at LG. If he proves competent at center, with Armstead at LT, Hunt at RG and either Wynn or Jackson at RT, I think that could shore up the line. But then again, Miami’s been shuffling the OL for years to find the right recipe
My mind is all apple crumble at this point. It's going to be a looooooong time before training camp starts and it's already seemed like forever since the season ended. This place is going to be a graveyard in the next couple of weeks. Especially since the Tua thread has been deep-sixed.
Goes to show you the trolls only care about Tua’s perceived shortcomings They have nothing else to talk about because they don’t know how to be anything but miserable
Watching Mike McDaniel before the Panthers game last week got me thinking would the future hall of fame coach Erik Spoelstra ever behave that way before a game? The answer is no. He wouldn’t be caught dead behaving like that in public. “Clowns can’t lead” -Bill Parcells
I had to go look up the video to see how bad it was and honestly it made me like Mcdaniel even more. Thanks for bringing it up bro!

ridiculous take. all we hear is how the players love MMD's leadership. You can either excel as players coach or excel at being more business like. Both work well.
