Reddick's helmet hit was sick, and not in the good way. I don't want to see more of that crap.

    Thoughts:

When Marve in the game, our offense is good and know what they're doing. When Harris comes in, the offense looks like it falls apart. Harris can't throw an accurate pass nor does he have the arm strength. I think that they can't keep giving Harris this time. If they continue to do so, it could hurt them. Glad to see Nix opened up the playbook a little.

Cooper played really good today, made nice cuts and showed good speed. The offensive line gave him some nice holes against a poor A&M defense. I like watching Derron Thomas out there in his limited time. I can't wait til next year to see Cooper and Bryce Brown back there. Brown is an exceptional talent.

The Wide Receivers played good. I like Benjamin, he's very quick and is difficult to catch once he's in front of you. Aldarius Johnson, who I really like out there, made some nice catches. I didn't see McKenzie out there. I believe he's a possession receiver with speed.

On defense, I thought they played well. They so far have given up 23 points which is about a touchdown more than we have allowed on average this year. We did good job containing Jerrod Johnson whose not that great of a passer and more of a scrambler. (He played WR before this game). The tackling was poor in the first part of the quarter especially on Mike Goodson's 62 yard screen but they shaped up from there on. I liked Spence out there again and Bailey did pretty good out there. Good pursuit out there once again. Moncur made some plays and so did Ojomo whose a really nice talent out there with Allen Bailey on the opposite side.

The Cornerbacks played well except against Fuller, the WR. I really like Brandon Harris out there. He's a very impressive player and is going to be a good one. I expect him to have a starting job at the CB spot if he hasn't already.

It did look like they might make a push at it for a while.

You mean they played well. I already have to proof Aqua's copy; don't make me babysit you, either!

In all seriousness, though, good summary. I think the defense bent a little more than it should have, though, especially when A&M made their final push: their receivers got open way too easily. I know it was garbage time, but still.

But a good win is a good win. Let's cream North Carolina next week and get a winning streak going before the FSU game.

I'm happy, Canes kicked a bit of ***, and we showed there's a lot of work to be done. There are screws to be tightened but we are doing great. We're gonna be so good next year.....

We have a score to settle with UNC and Butch Davis, and I am betting we do get it done. Shannon needs to put a gag order on the team, and do not give Davis any bulletinboard material to work with.

They could be very good next year, and I mean "VERY GOOD", like good enough for a BCS game. I want to be in that 2010 Orange Bowl as the ACC rep.

    I agree.
UNC lost today after they were winning two touchdowns, was surprised to be honest. We are going to have to limit Tate's total yardage if we want to win against them next week. We also can't give up those big plays and miss tackles. If we do, we won't win.

Its really interesting for next year. We added playmakers in this past recruiting class with Sean Spence, Brandon Harris, Arthur Brown, Aldarius Johnson and others. In next years class, we're going to have a top five Running Back coming to the U in Bryce Brown. Brown, if you look at the videos and notes that I posted earlier, is an exceptional talent. He's a VERY good prospect for next years class. He had 2,083 yards rushing and 26 touchdowns as a junior in High School.

What's going to be even more interesting next year is that we are going to see guys like Ramon Buchanon play. (I haven't seen him take part in any game so far, if he has forgive me). Buchanon was rated as a really good prospect. He originally committed to UF and then at the last second signed with UM. He can play LB and Safety, at the moment he's about 180 pounds. He can get up to about 225 and not lose a step of speed.

Another Linebacker coming in next year is Marcus Robinson who was heavily recruited by USC but chose UM. From what I hear, he's a lot like Keith Rivers. This part of the class will be big because we may not have much depth next year.

We added another CB in Brandon McGee and CB Prince Kent. Kent is a top five CB prospect and McGee doesn't have a true position yet. He can play QB, WR, KR and PR. They say he's similar to Pat White. Kent is a good player who has the size at 6'2. He's good in run support and can do everything well. Another nice CB. Happy since Bruce Johnson is leaving.

We can be a good team next year but I think we will see us start dominating teams or really outperforming teams come 2010.

BTW, I liked what Darryl Sharpton and Glenn Cook did today. I thought they played well.

If true, this is an amazing pickup. I hope he produces immediately.

If he's similar to Pat White, I say slot him at receiver and on punt returns.

He'll likely have a shot at doing so. We may have a lack of depth at the MLB spot so someone will get moved inside which will free up the OLB spot. That OLB spot could be his.

I don't know because we will have a lot of talent at the WR spot. Put him on PR's and maybe on defense. Possibly CB?

It'll be interesting to see how that goes. This team is definitely showing progress very quickly. If only our Fins could do the same.

I think the last 2-3 years have shown you can never have too much talent at the receiver position, especially with a QB with as much promise as Marve. We have the running game, why not add to our ability to punish defenses that stack the box?

I hear you on that. Its crazy how a team like the Hurricanes doesn't even rebuild, they just reload on the talent.

Well we're going to have a lot. Streeter, Hankerson, Farquahson, Johnson, Benjamin, McKenzie, Shields and then they'll probably add another two guys not including McGee. All those guys mentioned above are starting quality. McKenzie is a homerun threat as well as a possession receiver in one. Johnson is a big target, probably most talented one to come since Andre' Johnson. Streeter and Benjamin are burners. Hankerson and Farquahson are nice talents as you saw Farquahson today.

Great game and it looks like UM is progressing, but don't get too excited yet. A&M's D has been torn up by everyone they faced this year. In fact I think UM fans should be more excited to see how even everyone is in the ACC. Every week it is looking more and more like UM has a very real chance to win the conference THIS year.

I think if we win our next two games I will have a lot more faith in our ability to win the ACC. It seems like the last few years it's been a big game and then a letdown.

Okay, so that means the Canes won a game they were supposed to. That's exactly what good teams do; they win those kinds of games.

Yeah, I was expecting a nice offensive game from us because of A&M's defense. They're not a very good team. However, I think that you have to be excited as a Canes fan because we're showing promise at the least. At this time last year, I wasn't too happy.

Man would I love to be sitting at 4-1 before we head out on the road, but I know, one game at a time. Hopefully we can put it on Butch's boys this week. No let downs, Miami. This is a game we should win.

Butch is singing a different tune this year. No more mention from him that Shannon won't be here very long. Their QB is out and the back up layed an egg last week subbing in the 2nd half.

Like I said we roll this team. We should be 6-1 with WF coming to town.

Randy Phillips had PCL surgery and is out six weeks. We could see a redshirt on him. I'll keep an eye out for it.

He could medical redshirt. I think it is a third of the games to be eligible. Feels great to be excited about Saturdays again.

I predict a reversal of the first half of UNC game last year. The Canes are going to come out firing on all cylinders and overwhelm the beat up Tar Heels. This will be the game that puts the rest of the ACC on notice.

    Anybody watching this? :D

Cooper is really impressing me the last couple weeks. Aldarius Johnson with the presence of mind to pick up a first down on the route and Farquashson impressing again, now with a TD. Khalil Jones had a couple screens thrown his way while Jason Fox made a nice block. Surprised to see Sam Shields starting. Good start so far. 7-0.

Heck of a start! That was a perfectly executed drive. Playing smart football, hitting the holes hard, and great play calling.

    7-0

Nice cut again by Cooper. The offensive line and Cooper are really doing well. Now you have to wonder how this RB situation goes when JJ comes back. I personally like JJ but I have trouble liking him a lot because he's soft. I think we have to keep Cooper starting.

Tough FG miss there, his leg is insanely strong though on FG attempts. Wide right but it had another 10-20 yards on it easily.

I'm not going to use the dirt as an excuse. Both teams play on it and honestly I've played on baseball dirt and it isn't that big of a deal. Even for our kicker it wasn't.

Btw, Tate of UNC, whose the leading in all purpose yards at the moment I think, talked trash prior to this game. He said that no one can touch him on Miami. I don't think he has a catch yet. The one time I saw the ball thrown his way, it was a poor throw.
