ProFootballTalk.com - DOLPHINS ADMIT DISAPPOINTMENT WITH WILFORD Miami Dolphins' Ireland 'disappointed' in Wilford's play -- South Florida Sun-Sentinel.com I think we're all disappointed in him. He didn't have the best hands at JAX but he did play. What I find more important is that the management is admitting its mistake. They know what they did wrong and will learn from their mistake. Like he said, your not going to be correct on every single acquisition but it is good when you can admit it wasn't the right one.
A disappointment this early in the season is much better than one down the road. Say, after 10 games.
If signing a really underachieving WR was the pinnacle of the FO's attempts (or just attempt) to improve the WR position, they certainly did make a mistake.
I think were all disappointed in Wilford. I know I am for sure. we thought he was going to come in here and be a redzone threat, but now were lucky if he gets on the field. Im starting to wonder if maybe we should just put him on the field on game day, see how he does. maybe he's just not a practice player... who knows.
I like that Ireland admits disappointment publicly. It's good to admit discontent (or your mistake) with players who don't perform when you're paying them millions of dollars. Other regimes would handle w/KID gloves.
Yeah I agree we should just start him every game and see how he does. He had that reputation from Jacksonville of being a poor practice player but a guy that would show up on game day. Give him 4 starts, see if he has a breakout game and if not, just move on. Its not like we're getting stellar production from his replacements. He caught a pass against NE. Lets see how he does in the next three games
The FO's work this offseason was horrible with the WRs, especially with drafting two RBs, both of whom were cut. I can understand one because of questions surrounding Ronnie and Ricky, but two?
I dont want players that have bad practice habits on this team...screw them, dont care how you would play in the game.
He has been getting some playing time, especially last week. The thing I've noticed that I really don't like is he doesn't seem to go after the ball aggressively when he's covered. It was only a play or 2 but it seemed pretty inexcusable for a big, possession receiver that need to be physical to be productive.
honestly though, that pass he caught against the Pats was more Pennington making a play with his feet than anything else.
