They just said on NBC that this is the 400th game at the Notre Dame Stadium, 200 consecutive sell out games.
Horrible game. We'll find out soon if it was just the first game and the team overlooking a bad team/looking ahead to Michigan, or if this team is still this bad soon enough. I still dont understand why this team cant run the ball better. Few players who looked good, but we'll see what happens next week.
Grats to Lou and the '88 team. Hopefully they can help fire up the team for scUM this weekend. ESPN - Notre Dame to dedicate statue to Holtz, '88 title team on Saturday - College Football
Little article that compares Clausen and Quinn at comparable times in their careers. http://www.blueandgold.com/content/?aid=5869
I can't believe that Weis gets the same set of injuries as Tom Brady in the same week(sun-sat). Erie, isn't it.
Well Don, conga rats bro!! You guys slapped around Meeshigan just right. I must say, Charlie has impressed me a LOT over how he handled his injury... and the presser was upbeat and funny as heck. "For the first time in my life, I feel like an athlete" hahaha, you go Charlie !!
Did he give the PREGAME or PEP-RALLY speech? Would love to hear those, bet he fired the boys up big-time.
I heard him talk a little at the pep rally. I know he spoke with the team, not sure if it was before the game or the night before though.
I bet he spit on 'em. Nice game for your boys Don My ND buddy and I were watching trying to figure out if ND is actually good this year, or if UM is that bad. Still not sure.
Also a little video of some of his press conference where he talked about the knee. Glad he didnt let it swing momentum UM's way lol. ESPN - Notre Dame coach Weis to wait on left knee surgery - College Football
I dont think we have played a team that has prepared us for teams like Mich St. and UNC and teams like that that are playing good football. Our defense got cut up by McGuffie but I think they will rise to the challenge. Floyd and Tate are gonna be stars. Kamara is a beast. Hughes is a bruiser. Cant wait till saturday lets get it ND.
Disappointing game. Just felt like a game we should have won, even though I wasnt all that confident going into it. MSU just isnt that good. Get a lead on them and they dont have an offense that can come back. Think we probably had a gameplan that played to MSU's strengths by being so conservative early. Ringer is a stud, but that's all they have on offense. I kind of feel bad for him because how long can he last getting 40 carries a game? Everytime the offense got something going we shot ourselves in the foot. 2 Ints, neither I thought was horrible but they hurt. And the fumble by Floyd when we were putting our best drive together hurt a lot. I like this team though. We arent that good now, because we are just average atm. But you can see the future. Every play on offense and defense there are freshman and sophmores making an impact. We'll lose a few key defensive players (Bruton/Crum) but we have young guys getting experience now and more guys behind them who can step in. Clausen shows flashes of what he can do, once he has a running game to help him I think he can be good. Maybe he doesnt become the best QB in football, but he can win us a lot of games. Floyd/Tate/Kamara are a nice WR tandom. Kamara needs to get tougher and learn to fight for the ball. I like what this offense can do once it gets some experience and confidence. Just have to get that running game going. This is a good year to get experience and hopefully some confidence. I like the future so I wont go crazy over frustrating losses like this.
Tough day for you guys, sorry you lost. Any Michigan team that loses is a good thing. Good luck next week.
Man everyone making any sort of play for ND in this game is a freshman or sophomore. Love our young WR's, Floyd as a freshman is a stud. Just have to get that running game going, though Allen has looked pretty good so far today.
At this time it is 21-14 and Notre Dame has Talent. Floyd in 3 years will be talked about as a top 10 NFL Pick. Tate is a star. Armando Allen could be special if we could run block. CLausen has NFL Arm Strenth and has some Nice Accuracy. T-Rob was a great get from Nebraska and I thank Callihan for creating the mess that got him in Gold and Blue.
That Clausen is a bust thread looks dumber and dumber every week. And that's saying something because it was pretty dumb when it was first posted.
Please Welcome Nyshier Oliver as the 15th prospect in the Notre Dame Recruiting class. Oliver was a Tennessee Commit who opened up his recruiting again and landed with a Jersey Guy. Oliver is a 5'10" athlete with speed who will make the transition from rb to wr for the Irish like standout sophmore Golden Tate.
Just came to post about Oliver, beat me to it lol. Here's his Rivals profile Nyshier Oliver - Football Recruiting
Clausen is getting better every week. Him and Floyd are going to be a really nice tandem for the next few years.
Hey Don, great job so far, you guys are back. I was reading an issue of Maxim a few weeks ago and they had an article about the 10 worst teams in college football, and Notre Dame was one of them. Nice to see you proving them wrong.
Yet they won by 7. It's a good thing they did it and ran more clock...They let Stanford back in it by being soft on offense and not being aggressive. They were hardly trying to run it up. They couldnt stop Clausen and we stopped throwing the ball because we were up; which was a mistake.
You guys beat Stanford and I thank you for that. Seriously, how bad is Stanford's pass defense when even Clausen looks like a Heisman candidate against them.
