Now that the Marlins have been eliminated from the playoffs, has anyone heard if the dirt infield will be gone for the Chargers game ? Thanks.
Yeah we don't have to worry about seeing the dirt for the rest of the season. It will be gone before the SD game.
Yes. If they were smart they'd merge the Nationals, Royals and Marlins together. It would help the overall talent level in the league - solely in terms of pitching.
I think the dolphins are only 1 of 3 teams who have an infield in their football stadium. Chargers, Dolphins &.... someone else. The Raiders?
Unless there has been some change the contract runs out in 2010 so that next season should be our last. Sure hope so.
The dirt may not be there but the field could very well be a mess because Miami and FSU are going to be getting it on the day before the Phins game.
Chargers dont have a dirt infield do they? The Padres have their own stadium (Petco PArk) I think The raiders and another I never remember
Con.. the Marlins have won the world series twice, and despite the fan base, they are a quality club. If they get out of our stadium, I hope they stay.. I do not watch or follow baseball, but not much is better than the Marlins winning the WS on a quarter of the yankees payroll and watching stienbrenner fracturing the enamel of his teeth.
Please stop with the Marlins bashing. It's really tiresome as a lot of us who are Dolphins fans are also fans of the Marlins. Ideally, both teams would play in their own stadium and we would not have to deal with the infield dirt that now affects my beloved Canes too. The Marlins have bee working on a stadium but thanks to the politics in Miami-Dade County those efforts have been stalled.
I would so get behind this measure.....Marlins, please take Joe Robbie/Dolphin Stadium.... we will gladly start over and build a football only stadium the correct way, and start with the way the OB was!!!!
whoa whoa whoa. are you telling me that when the dirt is gone and we paint the numbers/end zones that we won't have our logo at midfield?
Teams with a worse record than the Royals: - Orioles - Tigers - Mariners - Braves - Nationals - Pirates - Giants - Padres
Will we see our logo/dolphins painting in the middle of the field and in the endzone again? Or will we have to play in our "home stadium" without any painting in the middle of the field and both endzones? It looked aweful and horrible in our season opener without them, there was no home feeling for me and i believe many dolfans!
Are you serious? This is horrible news! No fun to watch at all, no home field advantage, nothing for the fin fans! Get them both out of our Stadium or get us a new Miami Dolphins Football Stadium!
They had the " U " on the field today, so they must be doing something like that for the fins as well.....
How long are the Canes using Dolphins Stadium? I hope this no phins logo thing you guys are talking about doesnt last the entire time.
It may have only been there because Miami is on a bye week. I read an article during the off-season saying how the lead groundskeeper said it would be too difficult or something along those lines to put each team logo on the field in a one day span.
are you kidding me? I can't believe that. Why should the Hurricanes get the priority to use their logo on OUR field? That's BS.
On weekends where the Hurricanes and Dolphins share the home stadium, I can see not putting th elogos on. But weekends where the Hurricanes are away and Miami is at home should be a no brainer for the grounds crew. It is times like this that I wish Wayne was more demonstrative is making sure the DOLPHINS were able to benefit. Sharing the stadium with other sports franchises is fine, but I don't see how it helps Miami to play on a field with virtually no identifying marks to make it their own. Wayne should have struck a deal where the U can play there, but it will be with Dolphins logos on the field. I don't know why it bothers me so much...but it does.
Maybe they should have just put the dolphin stadium logo at midfield. Too late now, but it is dophin stadium.
And yet none of those teams ever dipped below 1,000 in attendance. I think the Augusta Greenjackets here sell more tickets than the Marlins. Just saying. You can't take away what they've accomplished but their local fan support seems to be a joke. And I think before this year the Nationals and Redskins were sharing a field.
Good point. Perhaps if we start winning again and get back near the top of the league - we'll build a stadium like the Cowboys are building. Joe Robbie's project was, quite frankly, a disaster. It's the worst NFL stadium out there.
Just glad the dirt will be gone. Can't wait till they put the Marlins in their own stadium. I hope the Marlins stay and get their own stadium soon.
