Sporting News has Tua ranked #28 in the league.

Also, this place is DEAD. No one has posted about the LB coach domestic abuse, amongst many many things. The other site is cranking. Tons of posters from here posting over there.

    Weird.

The Sporting News thing is an absurd joke. That's what a teenager does when he's trying to piss off his friend who's a Dolphins fan.

Tua led the league in passing yards two years ago, and was top five in TD passes and rating. Last year, he had the third highest completion percentage in NFL history. He's 27. And they have guys who have barely played or never played ahead of him. It cannot be taken seriously.

That's their stated reasoning for ranking him that low.

The whole freaking offense was broken the first half of the year due to injuries. Tua, Tyreek, Mostert, etc.

Starting when Tua came back, they pivoted (creatively?) To a system that focused on high percentage plays and long drives and it worked. When Tua was on the field, they were the #10 offense ppg in points and 11 in yards just behind Buffalo.

Bizarrely, many seem to be holding how ineffective the offense was when Tua was injured against him, when in reality it should show how valuable he is. If it's top ten with him and bottom of the league without, doesn't that clearly reflect on him in a positive way?

Last season, they were dead last in air yards per attempt and were one of two teams to have negative air yards to the sticks.

If anyone believes that Tua is the 28th rated starting quarterback in the NFL, behind players like Justin Fields, J.J. McCarthy who has never thrown an NFL pass, Caleb Williams, Bryce Young, Russell Wilson etc. is an absolute ******.

Its also admitted in the authors explanation that the piling on of the Dolphins by the national media this off-season was taken into account.

I can't wait until Sunday when Miami beats Indianapolis by 30.

I agree. I think the Colts get taken to the woodshed. The defense is going to force 2 turnovers.

Pretty optimistic if not delusional if you ask me. Don’t see us blowing them out, would be nice, guess we’ll see Sunday…

What's unrealistic about it? The Colts had the league's 29th ranked defense last season. 26th against the pass and 24th against the run. They allowed the second highest completion percentage in the league, and if they didn't pick off a number of passes, would have been at the bottom in passer rating against.

On the other side of the ball, they had the league's #20 offense, including 25th passing the ball, and now brought in Daniel Jones, who's had a bad day each of the years he's started in Week 1 for his team.

Oh, and the Colts have lost ten straight on Week 1, and are on a 2-14-1 Week 1 streak where they have allowed 33 ppg in those 14 losses. They haven't beaten a team that ended the season with a winning record on Week 1 since 2001.

And the Dolphins, with Tua, had a top ten offense last season and have reinforced the OL and the front seven signifigantly this season.

Damn you think beating them by 30 on Sunday is likely? I don’t think Vegas sees it that way nor many others. Get me some of that Kool-aid.

Vegas doesn't see any NFL team beating any other by 30. Not if a 14-1 team is playing a 1-14 team.

But with Tua healthy under McDaniel, they've taken a 20+ lead on the opposition nine different games. In fact, 9 of the last 34 games, so more often than a quarter of the time. Sometimes, a garbage time score made it look closer in the end, others not. Given that, its hardly shocking when it happens against an opponent who's defense is poor and who's QB has a tendency to start slow and give the ball up.

There‘s a reason for that. We didn’t make the playoffs last year but surely we‘re going to beat the Colts by 30 on Sunday. Hope you won’t have a rude awakening on Sunday, some people around here, lol!

Winning in the playoffs and beating lousy teams in the regular season are two different conversations. You can believe that one is more realistic than the other. I feel like people, broadly, are letting the 25-year drought effect every little aspect of how they view the team. Just look at it one game at a time.

Dude, beating a team by 30 in the NFL doesn’t happen that often, don’t you think?! Don’t give me that 25 year drought talk. Talking about moving goal posts….

For what it's worth, current Vegas odds are around +1.5 for the Dolphins, so we're slight underdogs. Anyway, Colts are certainly beatable, so hopefully we start off strong.

Definitely beatable but I don’t think it will be a walk in the park. Expecting a close game and the Colts are not as bad as some people on here make them out to be…

Edit: Oh and if they actually absolutely spank the Colts on Sunday, I‘d be impressed and might actually get my hopes up a little…

Moneyline is even right now at -108 for both teams. I wouldn't be surprised if Miami is the betting favorite at kickoff.

Jones has started five Week 1 games. At various points, his teams were trailing in the second half of those games:

    2020: 26-10 before a garbage time TD
    2021: 27-7 before a garbage time TD
    2022: 13-0*
    2023: 26-0 at halftime, 40-0 final score
    2024: 21-3 at halftime, 28-6 final score

*Saquon Barkley did explode and take them on his back for a comeback win in 2022 against the Titans.

Jones personal history combined with the Colts team history in Week 1 would seem to strongly suggest that Indy starts slowly this week.

What they did before has no relevance on this game. Just saying. Every year is a new year.

Their biggest question mark on the team, no doubt, don’t make the rest of their team trash. It’s a road game and the 1st game of the season, you probably thought the same last season against the Jags, how did that work out? (Edit: Oh and I forgot, that was a home game)
