Time to celebrate. first things in order, Minkah, Phillips, Chubb and Waddle and anyone of value needs to be on the trade block. Gather all the picks you can
I fel bad for Grier's family, but this was far overdue. Should have happened along with one of the previous head coach firings (take your pick).
CHRISTMAS IN OCTOBER!!! We have finally gotten rid of the main source of incompetence and mediocrity!!! Many years too late, but better late then never I suppose! Sad news though, I now have to change my signature since I finally got my wish!
I tend to agree but even a blind chicken finds corn sometimes, at least there is a glimmer of hope now.
Bright Blessings for Samhain everyone. The end of one cycle, the beginning of the next. How fitting. The universe has spoken.
It’s funny/strange that we haven’t done anything since Grier has arrived in South Florida. Maybe we finally can get back to where we once were!
Surprised, a bit shocked even. There is a glimmer of hope now, that real change can happen. Time to trade off the older vets and focus on getting that #1 pick -which means leaving McDaniel as coach until the season ends.
A very weak qb draft, we are stuck with Tua for one more season due to his contract penalties. I dont think we will be in position for Arch and Im not going after the next Mitch Trubisky or Joey Harrington out of desperation.. best player available, and his name is Reuben Bain Jr
Pretty sure I kept my Fire Ireland sig for months after he was gone! Needed to make sure it stuck. Of course, since Grier was part of Ireland’s staff the stench of Ireland has been with us still this whole time!
Probably so however, consider this. We all know Grier considered the offensive line to be an afterthought while those of us who KNOW football know the game is won and lost in the trenches. If whomever the new GM is decides to actually build a TRUE offensive line, then there will be less pressure on Tua and we can run the ball more. Running the ball effectively definitely opens up the passing game and let’s all be honest here, when Tua is on, he’s ON! We’ve just been so weak at running the ball and had to depend on Tua to be IT the entire game. Can’t be successful with that mindset. So if the new GM builds an OL, keeping Tua one more season won’t be that bad…provided the run game opens up but if we’re still in the mediocre mindset of, “oh, OL? Ummm, ok”, then it doesn’t matter who we have under center.
No offensive linemen that is graded high is worth not taking the best player available. I think We have to start drafting top talent, best impact player available.. and reuben bain jr is going to change the defense of whoever team he lands in.
I get a strong feeling that you like Reuben Bain Jr. alot. Not concerned about the draft quite yet and I‘m more interested to see who our new GM is going to be.
Some good news, now we can start the process of moving forward. I do suspect there is still a chance McDaniel is retained, but we have to finish better than we are playing and at play in a more buttoned up manner and show some fire. Otherwise he is the lame duck he appears to be.
Great. Why did it take 2 weeks longer than it should have? Hamstrung the interim GM to make trades before the 4th. Hope whomever is in charge can pick up a couple of 3rds.
Oh Champ Kelly who comes from a couple of organizations known for poor drafting. Better be gone at year's end along with McDaniel
Ross statement is he is beginning the process of looking for a new GM. My guess is he wants the interim GM to make moves to setup the next GM
Serious question- is there any need for a GM mid-season? I know they do many things other than drafts and trades, but i'm wondering if that can be delegated to existing staff. Why am I asking? I don't want to rush and promote someone internally like we did with Grier. Ross was so fooled last time, I have almost zero faith that he'll pick the right person. Yet I hope we don't go the committee route either, since that drags out for months. We actually have an opportunity right now to hire before 31 other teams if we find the right candidate and lock it down before February. But if we can't trust Ross and we can't wait on a committee, what's the 3rd option? Or maybe Dungee's group can have a recommendation in a month, I'm not sure. That's who we used last time and ended up with Grier, against advice.
I agree about the not needing a GM part right away as long as they pick the right one. Hopefully Ross gets lucky and right this time.
Well Ross can take his time. Thank God Grier is gone. Ok....So hear me out. Let's just start there for now. I really like McDaniel. I don't think he's the problem. Our defense is the problem...Our offensive line is the problem. Neglecting both of them over the years has caused multiple injuries to our quarterback which has in turn...Made him part of the problem. Leaving Tua out of this for a second....We're married to him into next season like it or not and neither Quinn Silver Spoonfed Ewers or Zach Wilson's hot mom are the answers. You leave the door wide open for Tua, and you do that by upgrading the offensive line and improving the defense. Like "ok Tua, door is open either way. You've been paid, we've upgraded, this is our last date." A new GM with better vision is going to make a World of difference. I have never thought that Ross was a bad owner...Just a dumb one who has always held onto guys longer than he should have, but hey...Maybe being patient is what made him a millionaire. Who knows, but the dragons head has been cut off and discarded and we can finally breathe. Grier was a mixed bag of hope, desperation, and WTF are you doing. His drafts have been stale, his free agent additions have been atrocious. I just hope recent picks like Chop, and Grant are salvaged because neither player looks like they belong in the league this year. We're 2-7, obviously headed towards a top 5 pick. Let's put our focus there, let's trade away some of the wasted talent on this team. Phillips, and Chubb (if we can) are the main two. I think you entertain moving Seiler if possible. Really don't want to see Waddle or Achane go. Especially Achane. I think he's going to give us some great years. Same with Waddle. If we're stuck with Tua into next season, then you might as well keep them too because the idea is to actually compete and not continue losing. Again, we removed the main problem in my opinion which was Grier. Evaluate from here and make a call at seasons end. Like I said, I want to keep coach. He's eccentric, but there's something to him, almost like he hasn't quite reached his ceiling and I'd really like Ross to think that over for these last nine weeks. I may be wrong on McDaniel and if you disagree with me, that's totally ok. Either way, today feels like a win!
Here’s the thing. First off, let’s all hope and pray Ross is able to land a new GM from a winning organization. I’ve mentioned the Chiefs with Adam Veech’s staff as well as the Eagles with Howie Roseman’s staff. We have to get proven excellence and not only that, he has to have complete and total control. We can’t have a situation like we had with McDaniel; “ok, you have to work with Tua, you have to keep Boyer as DC”. We need to have a GM that comes in, assesses what the team has and makes the decisions needed to build the team RIGHT! If that means keeping McDaniel, so be it. If that means keeping Tua, so be it. If that means taking a blow torch to the entire team and starting from scratch, so be it. Secondly, and most importantly for the rest of the team, from head coach all the way down to every player on the practice squad, the remaining 8 games of the season are your resume, your audition. I said previously you’re either part of the solution or part of the problem. How you perform for the remaining 32 quarters of the NFL season is going to determine whether or not you’re coaching/playing in Miami. The season is done. It’s been done. The only question now with the members and staff of this team is, are you a part of the Dolphins future? The answer to that is in their hands.
