The Miami Dolphins enter their Week 13 contest against the New Orleans Saints riding their first winning streak of the season. That, plus extra rest and the outlook of potential returns to the lineup, should have Miami feeling optimistic about the team's chances to climb back into relevance.

But it all starts with putting one foot in front of the other and taking care of each week's opponent. For the Saints, the landscape of the Week 13 contest between the two teams appears to have endured a significant shift — one that would tilt the scales in Miami's favor.

The Saints will begin prepping for Miami with the status of RB Alvin Kamara very much in doubt for Week 13

Saints running back Alvin Kamara went down in Week 12 with what reports indicate is a knee sprain. Such a turn of events would be a tough blow for a Saints offense that has struggled all season to find their footing with any consistency. New Orleans, with Kamara, currently ranks 29th in the NFL in rushing yards, 30th in the NFL in yards per attempt, and is dead last in the league in rushing touchdowns through Week 12 (3 scores).

The Saints are also averaging a slight 15 points per game and have scored three offensive touchdowns in the last calendar month.

This is a major opportunity for the Dolphins' defense to springboard their performance into new heights and try to parlay their recent momentum from before the bye week into sustained success. Not having to worry about Kamara, who is second on the team in total yards, would be a helpful development, even if Kamara is a shell of the player he once was. Thankfully for Miami, they've had loads of extra time to prep and be ready either way.

Miami Dolphins' rushing defense in recent weeks
    • Week 11 - 172 rushing yards allowed to Washington Commanders
    • Week 10 - 87 rushing yards allowed to Buffalo BIlls
    • Week 9 - 150 rushing yards allowed to Baltimore Ravens
    • Week 8 - 45 rushing yards allowed to Atlanta Falcons
    • Week 7 - 104 rushing yards allowed to Cleveland Browns

The Dolphins will get a pair of players back from injured reserve for Sunday’s game against the Saints.

They announced that tight end Darren Waller and tackle Austin Jackson have both returned to the 53-man roster. Tight end Hayden Rucci and offensive lineman Kion Smith were waived in corresponding moves.

Waller came out of retirement to join the Dolphins this year and had four touchdowns in his first three games for the team. He injured his pectoral the next week, however, and has missed the last four games.

Jackson started the season opener, but injured his toe and has missed the last 10 games.

Something definitely not right with Tua, looks like the injuries have caught up to him…

Closer game than what it should be given how Miami has seemed to dominate, but Tua still seems a bit off this season.

D is looking quite good although we‘re just playing the Saints. Need to see more from everybody if they wanna stay, but I think Ross made his decision already.

I'm fed up with Tua now. He's just so one dimensional. Always been a Tua defender but I've had enough of his noodling now. No wonder this place is always so empty.

Tua determined to have another multi-pick game. Just focus on the run game and adding a FG should be enough to win this one.

Such a stupid series of play calls. Just run it. You burn clock and still get a FG.

You run the ball, get to the 10 yard line and decide to call 3 passing plays, when Tua’s not having a good game.

    :pity:

If we hold on to win, credit Achane, the defense and Thompson for his 4 field goals

Please don't turn Tua loose to win this game by passing.

Wouldn't Fitzpatrick have been better taking a knee at the NO 1 yard line, rather than taking it into the endzone?

I forgot how Miami can grasp failure from the jaws of victory....

Well, they failed to fail. Not exactly inspired by the performance, but a win is a win.

I was happy that we were winning...then I realized we scored 19, on offense, against a 2 win team.

So yeah, glad we won. But excited? No. Squeaking out a win against a ****ty team, is meaningless. If we had dropped 70, I'd have hope that we could be competitive against a good team.

But we scored 21 total. Tua looked like a$$. Saints guy had a better game than Tua.

Everyone is chalking up the Jets game as a win which is hilarious to me.
Dont people realize Tua is 0-8 in weather below 45f?
