Same, and even if I do watch, it won't pursuade how I feel about Quinn Ewers as the future QB1 of this team. The story of an entitled, overly privileged kid who's had everything gift wrapped to him his entire life hardly interests me. Sure he's got some skill, I damn sure don't miss Tua...But he's still not our guy.
Lmao You guys serious? I actually thought it was a cool story, and I also can't stand Gruden, but it was good to get to see some of the stuff Ewers brings to the table.
I didn't watch it but did Gruden mention his footwork? I hate how flat footed he plays.I noticed that at Texas. He needs to watch old Marino videos
Jon Gruden is in the business of Jon Gruden. When he had his TV and now his YouTube show, he praised everybody? Why? He wanted to and now wants to get back into coaching. He knows if he is honest and critical, A- people won't be as likely to be on his show, and B- it would make hiring him as a coach difficult. The prudent move is to be outwardly positive, land a job, and deal with the problem while having a job that you want.
The key to watching Gruden is looking for the dog that doesn't bark. If he's silent about something then you know that's where the problem is.
Yeah, I know, bro. It's become pathetic around here. I don't like Gruden either, but it was good to hear from Ewers and get a feeling for his personality/make up. It was a good piece.
He criticized Ewers for changing his back foot in his dropback. Ewers had always started with his left foot back, and now he's changed to try to start right foot back.
Yeah, I only had a chance to watch it quickly. I want to watch it again, but that type of stuff was definitely interesting.
Yeah, some **** on him, I don't know why, the kid has crazy talent. Offered a D1 scholarship before even entering 7th grade. He seemed pretty intelligent and likeable in the piece, I found it to be informative and encouraging. I'm actually looking forward to seeing him next year, if he ends up being the starter. I wish they had started him 10 games ago.
Watched a couple other play breakdowns of him from his first two games, he does some really really nice things. He's very comfortable changing arm angles to get throws around defenders, and some other things.
I know right? So so low, and people always wanted to act like Tua was this cerebral smart QB. Watching that Hard Knocks season told me everything I needed to know about Tua and how not smart he actually was.
Tua is gone. You got what you wanted. You are seriously deranged if you're still talking about him. Let it go. We got Ewers now. The problem is gone. 12 wins coming next year.
As I've been saying the entire season, Ewers has potential to be a solid QB1. That's what you draft on- potential. Nine times out of ten, it doesn't work out and that's okay...you never win the lottery without buying a ticket or two. Ewers has a solid foundation to play QB in the NFL. Good velocity, great reads, very calm under pressure. That described Joe Burrow as well before his final season at LSU, then everything clicked for a magical season and #1 overall. I'm not saying Ewers is Burrow, but the kid has those same types of traits and if everything clicks, we could have a superstar. Again, the odds say he'll never be anything special...and that's fine. Some of the best QBs to ever play the game had the same talk around them before proving everyone wrong. Maybe that's Ewers, maybe not. But at least we bought the lottery ticket and we're scratching it off to see if we've found someone.
They have TDS - Tua Derangement Syndrome. Like Trump everything is his fault and anything he’s ever done is wrong. lol.
Now who are the ones constantly complaining and being negative? Oh, it's the same ones as all along. Constantly trying to derail threads and/or get them closed. Just trying to talk about the guy who's prolly gonna start for us next year.
Actually I thought it was pretty funny. That's what the LoL means. You all have lost any semblance of a sense of humor. During these difficult times it's humor that gets you through.
It sounds like he's saying the bare minimum while using the last ounce of positivity he has in him. In all truth, he probably already knows his tenure here is up. I'm not one to keep throwing dirt on him though. He gave us some great moments. I'm never going to forget the Baltimore comeback game OR the 70 we hung on Denver. I'm also not going to forget the countless December/January meltdowns. We took the good and the bad with Tua. As for Ewers, I don't like him, some of you do. I hope he proves me wrong. I'm also not going to explore each and every possible angle I can find to reinforce the fact that I don't like him. I don't care if I'm right or wrong about him. We will see I'm sure. I say this in total peace but.... Welcome to the other side of the Tua debate. Hopefully this one doesn't last for another five years. I'd really love to just see get a guy that we collectively agree on. Then again, somewhere out there in 80s/90s Miami Dolphins fandom galaxy is a conversation about how Scott Mitchell and Craig Erickson should be replacing Dan Marino.
Tua deserves it all, he’s a fraud and a poser that bamboozled all of us, well not all, some of the posters here like sceeto and res tried many times to warn us, but I ignored my own signs on the player since his college days. ( I did say it would be his downfall) this isn’t some sort of syndrome you do realize he has screwed this franchise for the next few years putting us in salary cap hell? Is that dope to you? Because obviously he doesn’t give a **** nor have any regrets at all by Mr dopey
I feel like that kind of anger sort of proves his point Much like the anger towards his comments of wanting to leave. They want to get rid of him and now he is ok with it. So what?
Thanks, bro. That s cool and big of you. …..and my apologies for being harsh with my words at times in the past. It’s just my environment/upbringing. lol! We go back a long way, so peace bro. Thx.
Thanks bro And you're right. And he even tricked me for a brief time, I think it was '23. I made a thread eating crow on Tua. Then the real Tua came back.
I don’t get why you guys get so upset when somebody says something negative about Tua? It’s not like he gave it his all, that’s pretty much obvious or he knew all along that his body isn’t made for the sport. Or is it because you have been wrong about him all along and were blinded by the Tyreek years…
Don’t think so he just realized his body isn’t made for the league and cased in pretty smart for a low wunderlich…
I've been thinking about this a lot lately. Truthfully it's Ross's fault more than anyone. Why? We hired to Flores tank for Tua. We wanted Tua so badly that we gutted the team and offered to pay Flores to lose games. But he didn't go for it, which is unfortunate because maybe we would have tanked for Burrow. That's a different story though so we don't have to go there today. Once we have Tua, Flores was pushed to start him over Fitz. Flores fought back and it ultimately cost him the job. Again, this isn't a Flores post so we don't have to get into all that. His potential replacements though were all asked a single question- can you win with Tua? Some said no, while others beat around the bush. Only one guy said, "Heck yeah, and here's how I'd do it!" That's our current head coach and he was hired for one specific reason. McDaniel succeeded as well; we did win with Tua when he was healthy. But the entire offense was built around pinpoint accuracy, blistering speed, misdirection, fancy motions, etc. Like it or not, the offense worked and Tua was successful. If we remember back, McDaniel emphasized that we'd be a power running team that thrived off the play-action. We haven't had the personnel to accomplish that though and we can blame drafting, consistent line injuries, etc. We had the backs but no holes for them to run through. So we pivoted but stuck to the core mission- win with Tua...let's gimmick the crap out of this thing! Here were are several years later with no playoff wins, a QB who's uninspired, and somehow with a pretty solid power run game with an elite RB. And finally the core mission changed to "just win...with any QB." That's what it always should have been to begin with and you don't draft coaches on the premise of, "Can you work with this QB that nobody wants to work with?" That's not a knock on Tua, mind you, because I have no idea why Flores and others were against the kid. It is the reality though, all these potential head coaching candidates said they'd prefer to pick their QB. Bottom line, Grier and Ross were obsessed with Tua and bet everything on him being the next Marino. Grier was fired for that belief and I think Ross is having a hard time firing a coach that did exactly what he was asked to do. He won with Tua until it was no longer possible, and we were the laughing stock of the league with a terrible secondary and half our starting line on IR in week one. So don't get me wrong, this isn't a "Tua was clear bust" sort of thing, we just didn't build a complete team around him so the success could be sustainable. All of this comes back to Ross in a press conference seven years ago saying the phrase "Perennial Playoff Contender" as he smiled and celebrated with Grier. You can fault Grier, sure, but ultimately it was the owner who said the best candidate happened to already be in the front office. He wasn't the best candidate though as we let free agent after free agent walk away. It doesn't make a difference how well you draft if you can't keep the player in Miami. And a big reason why so many walked without contracts was Tyreek and Tua...they broke the bank and left little room for other positions. Ultimately, all of this failure comes back to one person- Stephen Ross. The dummy just fell for it all.
That is just an easy excuse to hate him because hating him on some personal level makes fans feel better than simply saying "he stinks lets move on". But if that is true Grier, McDaniel, and probably Ross would have known that. Tua is the current scape goat and Grier before him and McDaniel in the future. Ross stays and Dolphins remain as dysfunctional as ever.
The only thing I don't blame McDaniel for is the lack of stability due to a weak offensive line. He did the best he could with that show Grier gave him every year. It doesn't mean he should be given another year because he has other flaws, some major. Tua quitting this year is on him. He made the decision before the season started. Bye
Its interesting that you think you know what was in his head haven't ever met the man or had a conversation with him. Don't really care about Tua. Didn't watch him in college. Just hoped he bring a championship to the team. He didn't. And it looks like he played his last game here (possibly) so moved on. Just like I've moved on from all the other players that have never panned out. The TDS runs deep in this crowd.
Tua "didn't care" is such a weak loser argument. The kid could have quit a long time ago. He would die on a football field.
