The Ravens fired John Harbaugh after 18 seasons together, playing devil's advocate that you were Steven Ross would fire McDaniels immediately and quickly sign Harbaugh? Let's hear all the pro and cons and what you would do. I lean towards hiring Harbaugh based on his track record of actually winning playoff games, plus could it give Lamar Jackson extra incentive to play in Miami?
I'm torn between letting McD have one more season or going and getting Harbaugh. If it were a scale, it would probably just tip in favour of getting Harbaugh in. Soz Macca but some of your play calling on occasions has been downright baffling.
I've said before that I don't mind a McDaniel scapegoat year ... but just go get Harbaugh and let him rebuild this black hole of a franchise.
Lamar doesn't like Harbaugh. Dolphins have no QB and no cap space. Its a bottom tier job and Harbaugh can pick his spot.
OK but does Harbaugh love Dart? Kids a walking concussion. Does he want to work with their GM? Dudes a moron who make Chris Grier look like a genius. No cap space this year. Cool, tell me about the years after. No QB? Ok, that just means you get to select yours instead of having one foisted on you. This year may be weak ... what about next year? Seems like it could be a good and deep class. The bottom line is that most good teams in great situations aren't firing their coach. Every job will have significant risk and downside. It's up to ownership and the front office to make a pitch that appeals. Is that giving Harbaugh total control? Is it offering him a record setting deal? Is it allowing him to choose the GM? The QB? The money to set records at OC/DC?
Hand Harbaugh the reigns and let him choose his GM. We are not getting a better opportunity to land a premium head coach any time soon.
Yeah but you have to argue why you aren't into someone like Dart. If he likes Dart its a no brainer. Same with Cam Ward. Falcons are more talented in general as well. More than likely Harbaugh at this point in career would be more interested in a rebuild that has begun not one that is a year away from beginning. Obviously if Ross could get him that sounds great but its Ross so I doubt he would pull it off. Leaving the Dolphins looking like clowns once again just like with Sparano.
Said this in the Monday thread the other day on why I'd hire John Harbaugh. McDaniel should have been fired yesterday.
I would be all in on Harbaugh, and I would give him as close to absolute control as it gets. I suspect that when he builds the surrounding cast it isn't going to be a one run and done go, but a sustained level of success that gives us a chance to be hopeful every year. I would kill to have that feeling back where the year is a disappointment if we don't go deep in the playoffs.
Don't disagree to a point, but its also a partnership, at least it should be. The GM should be getting the people that fit the HC's vision, not picking whoever he wants and telling the HC to just shut up and coach. Harbaugh is one of the best coaches of the last 20 years. If you need to stroke his ego to get him here, you do it. Let him pick that guy and let that guy do what he wants to the front office.
My guess, unfortunately we are not going to be chosen, he will choose between the Falcons and the Titans.. Giants, although they got some really nice core pieces with Nabers and some strong defensive players… it may be an option and wont shock me if he goes there But if he wants a division that is wide open, and a team loaded with talent, just needing a coach and a good offseason to unlock it, the Falcons job is it.
After 4 seasons McDaniels still doesn't know what a halftime adjustment is and refuses to transition from OC to HC. Fire him and bring in Harbaugh. Let him and Aikman decide on the next GM.
According to CBS Sports, the Giants are the odds on favorite to land John Harbaugh as their next head coach…followed by the Miami Dolphins. Interesting.
No high profile coach with the credentials of Harbaugh is going to come here with the quarterback position up in the air the way it is. I get that Ewers is an all American Texas man with a taxidermy fetish who loves oil and Trump, but that doesn't mean he's going to be a franchise quarterback. It's no surprise McDaniel is returning.
Michigan men stick together, and that's bigger than NFL circles. Ross will do everything he can to bring him in. But if that fails, McDaniel will be the coach and have the full support of the team. Like Flores and Gase...and Philbin and Sparano. You know, the way we support our coaches and always stick to our word, LOL.
You do realize Harbaugh won the Super Bowl with Joe Flacco, right? Not a light ‘em up franchise quarterback.
