im playing some random dude online right now. and, no lie, i completed 17 passes to Terrell Owens in the first half. Im up 14-0. T.O. finished with 24 rec. for 209 yards and 1 TD. I win 35-7. I had won 4 in a row. And against some stiff competition. Then I play this guy whos using the Browns. I enter the game without checking his record. Then all of the sudden I find myself trying as hard as I can to stop him. He was good, really good. But I have been getting mad skills over the past few days, and I was able to contain the storm. I lost T.O. in the 1st quarter though, and that hurt me. But Crayton stepped up and made 10+ catches. So the game gets down to the end and he is on the verge of field goal range. He has a 15 mph wind at his back, and he drains the game winner as time expires. 17-14. So I exit the game, and go to look how good this guy was. I was shocked. He is ranked 111 overall. Not a typo, 111. His record is 131-29. His skill level is 27. Even though I lost, I still feel good for almost winning. There were a couple moments in the game where I made a small error and it cost me just enough to not score. It was this kids lucky day. So I'm playing this kid online last night and he picks the bears, easy peezy. I picked my online "favorite" team the steelers, so I can welcome him to Blitzburgh. Anyways, he runs basically a 4wr the whole game and I ran back an int for a td. By halftime its 14-6 me. Second half it all went to sheet. He kicks the ball to me it goes over my head, does not touch me into the endzone, they recover it, and....get a td? What?! I still dont get that one.....is that a rule I didnt know about....so then he goes for 2, he doesnt get it. 14-12 me. Almost the end of the 3rd he runs back a punt w Hester. 18-14. Which its not even the 4th yet and he;s running clock, this kid knows how lucky he is right now. So final drive less then a minute to go in the game, 4th and 10 I complete a long pass to Washington...but wait....theres a flag(are you kidding me?) Holding on the offense making it now 4th and 20. Game over.
kickoffs are live balls. havent you ever seen an onside kick? after 10 yards, its up for grabs, even if its in the endzone. i think you deserved to lose this game for that reason alone. but the fact that you didnt score in the 2nd half could have been your fatal error.
Does anyone have any tips for offense/defense? I just started playing again(I'm waiting on NBA 2k9 from gamefly). I ****ing really hate this game. I miss the xbox version. The next gen madden annoys the **** out of me. MY WR are always covered... My DB are always letting guys wide open. I have no idea how to get better. I'm fine on franchise mode, my IQ is near 600. Any advice? P.S. I play mostly online.
Heres what little advice I have for you bro. Quick short routes are always your best option. The long bomb is almost non existent unless the guy is wide open. WR's do not adjust to your passes at all so make sure your passes are as accurate as possible. Cover plays work better than man most of the time. Shoot me a PM w your tag, I'll play you online and work with you some if you want. Besides I have 2k9 as well so when you get that we can play that too if your game.

Off-topic but what's a good team to rebuild in franchise mode? I got the draft classes and all but its hard trying to find a fun team to play with and build.

Detriot ...Just trade away load up on as many picks as it lets you then trade some of your later picks and high priced players to move those picks up. thats what I do.
That's what I did haha. I ended up drafting Sam Bradford in the first round, Brian Orakpo and MIchael Johnson in the second and then DeMarcus Granger in the third. Gotta love Madden.
