I mean worst case, he sucks, and Ewers shows nothing more, we then have a nice high pick in '27, I say we draft only oline in this draft, and let Willis and Achane feast.
Hoping for right tackle from the U falls to us. If he plays anything like he did for the packers and I know it was a small sample size he will be the guy. He also can play in cold weather with his arm.
I like what I saw from him last season in Green Bay. As others pointed out, he can play in cold weather. I think he's going to give us a chance to win some games. It's a three year deal. He gets this season to prove himself. He's already a proven, reliable backup. If he's not our guy, then we draft our guy in 2027 and Willis is still here for two seasons as a backup. It's not exactly a bad position to be in.
I don't care for Simms at all, but in this case I agree with him. Willis has all the skill and rare intangibles that makes a superstar. He's not there yet but even now, you're not in a panic on 3rd and 11 because the kid has so many ways to beat you. Very good in the pocket, very good at sensing pressure, and excellent at extending plays with his arm or his feet. The kid can also throw rockets or nice touch passes when needed. He's like a mini Lamar Jackson with an arm like Tannehill. I'm hyping him up, of course, and he still has some growing to do in the league. He's a very exciting young veteran though with almost unlimited upside.
