round the League with Adam Schefter - Cameron to learn fate tomorrow? -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- I was just watching the NFL network and Adam Schefter talked about 4 things... all kind of protaining to the dolphins. 1st - With Mueller gone, as we know Parcells wants Ireland. He said Jerry Jones has to let him out of his contract so that might be the only stumbling block. In fact, he thought this maybe already a done deal. 2nd - Cameron should learn his fate as soon as tomorrow. He has a meeting scheduled with Parcells and it is believed that he will tell him what his plans are and what Cameron will do. So I guess we'll know then what he decides. As we already know Sparano and Garrett are prime targets to replace him if indeed he is fired. Schefter thinks he will be but its speculation. 3rd - The secondary coach to Dallas is who Parcells wants as our new Defensive Coordinator. Again this maybe a problem with contracts and JJ could block permission which he might indeed do (note he DID NOT block Ireland's permission to speak with Parcells) He did block the Saints from talking to him a year or so ago. This tells me Dom Capers is 100% on his way out the door. The 4th I found interesting because it talked about the Browns and Brady Quinn. Apparently the Browns are very happy with Quinn and are at least listening to offers for Derek Anderson. We know full well they'll sign him to enough for a 1st and 3rd round pick if anyone goes to pick him up... it'll be interesting if they make a trade and go with Quinn. I would have guessed not and I still think that's a very bold and risky move. DA threw nearly 30 TD's this year and it was his first REAL season starting... Quinn hasn't even thrown a TD, I'd go with what you know. Also keep in mind Romeo can just keep Quinn and let him ride the bench incase Anderson ever got hurt (like what the Packers did with Aaron Rodgers). Anyways some interesting news, thought I'd share. WEll i got this from a diff forum...i dono if its ok or what not but he reported on NFL network and the poster basically summeraized it for us i guess....take it for what its worth.
Thanks for the post. Hmm, pretty interesting stuff. It seems like all of the newspaper outlets in Miami have forgotten about Dom Capers or something, because that position hasn't been mentioned much at all. I figured he'd be shown the door, though. It looks like our staff is going to be the v2 of the Dallas Cowboys. I don't mind it as long as Parcells is good with it. Jason Garrett though, huh? Interesting mention........
JJ can't block anything if the guy is getting a promotion which the secondary coach would be getting, this crap about JJ trying to block stuff is getting out of hand. He would have no say in it.
He absolutely can block it. It happens all over. Jon Gruden is notorious for not letting his coaches interview for coordinator jobs. They hold them to their contracts almost without exception. The only job a team can't block a coach from interviewing/taking is a head coaching position.
Point taken on the written word but there is a social issue that SHOULD prevent Jones from blocking a promotion.
I'd like to know one way of the other if Cam is staying or going...we need to move on and if Parcells is gonne talk to some guys from Dallas this is the week to do it. Ozzy rules!!
I should have said socio-economic VanDolphan. I just don't see an owner like Jones blocking the advancement of an african-american. I would add to this line of thinking that Harry Carson is the executive director of the Fritz Pollard Alliance. The lines of communication between Carson and Parcells are wide open. But I don't think it will come to all that. Jerry Jones has hired and fired seven head coaches in his short history with the Cowboys. Not one of them was African-American. His conscience should not let him block the advancement of this man. Remember that we are not talking about a position coach. We are discussing Defensive Coordinator which is one step away from head coach.
today or yesterday good news. Dom Cqpers needed to go 2 years ago in my opinion. I do not think or want us to become Dallas South. I do not mind one or two postiions but I sure hope we do not RAPE the entire team.. I really think we need to rape New England's Staff as well. Helping/Hurting us and them..
Funny how the Browns, with a QB that threw for nearly 30 TD's, are willing to part with Anderson in favor of Quinn. Either Quinn is the real deal or the Browns are out of their minds. I think the truth lies somewhere in the middle, and if Quinn does in fact become an all-pro in Cleveland, this 1-15 season will seem even worse than we imagined.
If they thought Quinn was that good, he would have been starting. Get your poker face on because Cleveland has theirs on. I'd be willing to bet they would take a 1st for Brady Quinn just to save face (and cash). Quinn has to play. They don't have the money for two starting QBs. They know they are trapped by last years draft decision. Cleveland is not even in the running for Derek Anderson's services after next year.
They're out of their minds if they let Derek Anderson go. Talking about a QB who's been compared to Dan Marino. Can handle the cold weather environment. Accurate, strong arm. You just struck gold with this guy, and he can only get better, and you're going to let him go just because you drafted Brady Quinn? Oh the curse in Cleveland just never ends.
I agree with all of you who say that we shouldn't trade (again) for a QB. That said, what choice is there? We can't stay with Cleo and as of today Beck isn't ready. That said, there is a long time between now and next season. With all the coaching that can happen between now and then, and with a year under his belt and without the media climbing all over him (a lot of ands) can he be who we need him to be? I guess my question is, does BP see potential in Beck? We don't know. DA had a pretty good year but a first and a third is expensive. There have been a lot of QBs who have had one good year (or part of), and then fell totally flat. Remember Scott Mitchell? At this point it's a huge and expensive risk.
Neither...Its all business. DA was a 7th, Quinn was a 1st which is why the probability of starting Quinn over DA is alomst a certainty
This Anderson thing is going to get bigger. Hes a definite option, he just has to be thrown into the mix with the state of our QB depth and quality. Whether Parcells thinks hes worth it? Now thats where it matters.
The Browns are ouit of their minds ! This push for Quinn is being lead by the marketing dept. Let's face, chicks dig him, he went to ND, and played for the offensive genius Charlie Wiess. If that's not a petigreee for a HoF QB nothing is. The only real knock I've ever heard was that he didn't get a offer from tOSU.
