Cris Carter too! http://sports.espn.go.com/nfl/notebook?page=sundaycountdown08&lpos=spotlight&lid=tab2pos1 Btw we are 3-0 vs the Chargers since 2001.
I would love nothing more this week than for us to beat the chargers!!! If we do, wow... the things in store for us the rest of the season are looking pretty darn good! I think the biggest key is getting to rivers... and getting to him early, and often. Of course... Stopping LT as well.
I have to agree with them. I think we win this game. WE WILL be playing with passion and confidence and THEY will be playing with Norv.
the norv factor.... sooo, does anyone think they won't take us seriously, that they will be looking past us? The major talking heads are disrespecting them on national TV..
I don't think they'll overlook us, but the Chargers really seem to think a lot of themselves. That could certainly work to our advantage. Especially seeing as how we dismantled a much better defense than they have, in New England, two weeks ago. I'm sure their coaches have been preaching about how this isn't the 2007 Dolphins all week long, and the Chargers players have seen all the film. But their guys certainly don't sound like they have any real respect for our guys. They've been talking about the 'Wildcat' all week, and how they're 'not worried' about it... how 'they'll handle it'... and being all cocky. If we play with few mistakes, and we get physical with those guys up front, and Pennington plays a smart game, the Chargers will fold. Count on it. 'Wildcat' or not.
Prepared or not, I don't think the wildcat will be as successful against the Chargers D. Their LB's are quite a bit younger and faster than the Patsies.
Rob Parker, who is a frequent guest on ESPN's 1st and 10, picked us to beat SD too. He picked us against the Pats. Skip Bayless, the mainstay on that show, has been high on us all year. He says we are the most improved team in the league and we will give SD all they can handle. Kind of weird getting some praise from the media. But I guess I'll take it. I just hope we live up to increasing expectations.
Take Mark Schlereth for example. He went 6-7 last week. Has the definition of the word "expert" changed since I last looked?
Schlereth is an idiot, IMO. When Chad Johnson made those comments this week about espn reporters etc, he took it personal and it showed in his response. Seems like someone needs a little self confidence.
The 'NORV FACTOR'............ As an OC, he is fine, but as the HC........he seems like the type that might hang lobster traps from the ceiling.
Case in point, all of the "experts" last week chose Dallas and Denver to win last week. 6 of 10 got the Cardinals and Bengals games wrong, and 8 of 10 got the Eagles game wrong. Keep in mind not one of them picked Miami to beat NE either. Experts my ****ing ***
Mort DOES have the best prediction record at 41-19 But these guys have no clue. this game is not touchable imo. it wouldn't surprise me if we won a close one, it wouldn;t surprise me if we whipped them, it wouldn't surprise me if they beat us by 3 scores. we're 2 teams in limbo with talent, and anything can happen.
