Jason taylor and ricky williams to dallas for their first 1st round pick (22) plus maybe a 3rd or 4th. Because of his age I don't think jason can command these picks by himself. but throw in ricky and dallas might go for it. This deal would make alot of sense for everyone involved. dolphins: gets more picks which they desparately need. Assuming none of the Qbs look like a sure thing, with the number one overall pick they can replace taylor with either chris long or vernon gholston and then use the pick from dallas to draft a good left tackle or corner. I would go tackle because there should be better value at that point in the draft. Plus OT is the 2nd or 3rd most important position on the team (3 most important: QB, DE, OT). With this trade the dolphins would be able to fill 2 of the 3 most important positions on the team with young, great 1st round talent. Plus finally get rid of ricky for good. dallas: they get a great pro bowl DE to help their defense and a possibly still great pro bowl running back to replace the one that most people expect them to lose. they'll still have their 2nd round 1 pick to get a quality CB to further help their defense. Dallas already has a great offense, with this trade they would get a great defense as well. Jason: Gets to play for a contender. a warm weather contender thats very close to being able to win it all. ricky: I don't think he cares
What is Dallas going to do with three star running backs when they have a Pro Bowl quarterback and a Pro Bowl receiver?
I wish you guys would stop talking about trades with Dallas. They are to good as it is. Might as well trade with the Patriots. Not to go nerdy fantasy guy on ya but you never trade with the better teams because it ultimately will hurt you.
Why would Dallas want Taylor when they have two young promising DE's in Canty and Ware. Cowboys would get reamed in that deal. Next?
That deal makes no sense for Dallas whatsoever. Even Wanny would know better than to take that deal (ok, maybe Wanny would do it, but you get my point).
everyone expects dallas to lose one of their running backs to FA (i think julius jones). they will be looking for replacement in order to continue having two quality backs. they might draft one, in round 1 but that could be expensive and not necessarily a sure thing. ricky is a proven quality back who would come cheap. Dallas could use JT because every team could use a pro bowl pass rushing DE. It is one of the most important positions and every team is looking to fill it.
No one would be dumb enough to count on Ricky for anything. Fool me once shame on you, fool me 5 times... and I'm a moron. As for JT, the strength of the Dallas D is their front 7, so why would they sink a 1st round pick and a bunch of money for a 34 year old DE when they're already solid there and need help elsewhere?
yeah spears and canty are good young d ends. I believe ratliff got moved to nose which will likely end fergusons stint with the 'boys.
The point is, their front 7 isn't what's going to keep them from beating the Pats in the SB, it's their secondary. Why spend the #22 pick on JT when they can draft a young stud CB to play opposite Newman? And by the way, they have yet another first round pick to grab another RB like Felix Jones or James Stewart, a young guy for their front 7 or a Malcolm Kelly type to eventually replace TO. This "great trade" only makes sense through aqua and orange colored glasses...
I agree with you I was just trying to point out he wouldn't be a DE for Dallas therefore, he would not be wanted by them because of Ware and Ellis.
Ireland supposedly prepared the scouting for Jerry Jones for the upcoming 2008 NFL Draft...I can't see how he would be able to deal with Jerry now without the NFL thinking there would be some kind of collusion going on. Also Dallas has two first rounders, but I think they would have to throw in a lot more to get our #1 overall. As far as moving JT....I would rather he go to Dallas than to an AFC team, but it would be nice if JT could compete for a ring. I don't think Ricky has any value right now.
You are exactly correct and what's more, they drafted Anthony Spencer last year, so have three 1st round draft picks to play OLB and if you count Bobby Carpenter who can play inside or outside, the already have four 1st rounders to cover the 2 OLB spots. There is no way the Boys are trading for JT.
