The Miami Dolphins Are the NFL's Annoying Little Brother | Bleacher Report The full thing is worthy of a read, even if some of it isn't all that flattering.
Great read. I loved it. A very entertaining if not perfect analogy. To modernize the reference, the Miami Dolphins are those 8 year olds who kill you in Halo or Gears of War by doing that stupid grenade tag trick over and over again. It's stupid and annoying, and can backfire very easily, but when it works it really pisses you off and you end up in little pieces all over the field.
Nice write up!!!! I just think that it is part of the revolving parity you have in the NFL. Back in the 70's, 80's, 90's, you had dynasties who were pretty much in control of things for about 3-5 years and the lousy teams stayed lousy forever. Now you can go from 1-15 to a playoff team in a year or two. I think if you look at our schedule, there is no reason why we can't beat most of the teams on our schedule. I don't think any of the teams left are better than the Patriots or Charger teams we have beaten.....but we need to focus on each game.
I did'nt like the analogy at all, these writers have not played football obviously, if your a defensive player and you cant figure out the wildcat or it confuses you in some way, your a moron. Whats happening is our coaches have figured out a way to get the ball in the hands of the most talented football player in the league, ronnie brown. utilize our linemans strength, which is athletisim and power and then draw up a few plays and let him go. this analogy disrepects how we are beating other teams...were doing it because our talent is superior when running those plays. Ronnie running behind Jake long with ricky as a decoy...thats it...if you cant stop it its because you dont have the talent to stop it. not because you were tricked or outschemed.
This, my friend, is why i like you.. you are a great fan dj... thank you. but, hopefully ricky becomes something more than a decoy..
thanks brother. I think its more of ricky still not quite finding his timing yet but i feel its coming which is pretty scary when you think about it.
If you are Atlanta, you go from 3 game winner to playoff team, and if you are Miami you go from 1 game winner, to 2 game winner. Its no fun being a Cubs Fan, NFL Style.
I can't always respond to every assumption made about me, but I did play football. Four years of high school, and in the senior all-star game in Brooklyn, NY—probably would've struggled to make a D. III team, but back injuries ruined any chances for that. Everyone on defense has an assignment—someone to look for and match up against. The Wildcat offense creates and exploits those mismatches. It's clever as it's been very effective for Miami (nice touchdown pass from the formation, btw), but it's not about superior talent. In fact, it's designed to cover up holes in the talent. The Jets did similar things in 2006 before Mangini could bring in better players. It's about expected alignments, and when there's an odd shift thrown in the mix, it sends a defense scrambling, as there's no real defensive alignments against it. Most defenses are symmetrical, similar talent on both sides. Lining up a QB as a WR, and two RBs creates understandable confusion. Regardless, I didn't rip apart the Dolphins. The unorthodox scheme means nothing to the good things going on with the defense—except in the final 25 seconds of today's game of course.. Sorry, had to take a shot as a Jets' fan. Regardless, rivalries don't mean I can't be realistic and respect what's being done well.
if you're suggesting that you wrote the article, your bias against the dolphins was obvious. and ronnie is superior talent... the formation might be unconventional but all it does is leaves defenses on their toes.. ronnie still needs to have agility and vision and our guys still need to make blocks to execute the play
