I hope this is just me being superstitious and reading too much into trends. But here's what I noticed. There are some frightening (to me anyway) similarities to Ronnie's season last year and Ronnie's season this year so far. Last year Ronnie started out slow the first two games. Then had a phenomenal 3rd game. Then in the 4th game another good outing, but not quite as good as week 3. Game 5 was another solid effort but not quite as good as week 4. A small decline each week. Then in game 6, which was week 7 I think, the injury. So far this season, results have been the same. Great 3rd game, good but not as good in game 4, and then slightly less production in week 5. Maybe I shouldn't even be writing up this comparison. But I tend to think that if I worry about things that I shouldn't worry about, hopefully it might prevent them from happening. Obviously I'm afraid of Ronnie getting injured this week. Or any week. I really hope this is just me worrying about nothing and looking too much into a trend that really doesn't have much to do with this season. But I just thought I'd put it out there. Stay healthy Ronnie!
this is purely a case of "he's one of the better players we have I hope history doesn't repeat itself". don't read too much into the past.
I'm worried he is trying to find the running lane on every run. If you look he is a little indecisive on his runs he seems to bounce around he doesn't just hit the hole and push the pile. Now its not every play but its something that jumped out at me.
He didn't really have anywhere to run yesterday. He had to make something out of nothing several times.
With Ricky spelling him every so often he will be fresh. I think Ronnie will be fine this year. That is what is so good about having 2 outstanding running backs.
I'm hoping by bringing it up it will make it not come to pass. Kind of like when you unreasonably stress over a plane crash before a flight. I'm hoping this thread will be some kind of cosmic force that prevents history from repeating itself. If it ends up being the contrary, I'll never forgive myself. In regards to the Madden curse I hope it ends up manifesting in a Pennington led Dolphins in the playoffs while the Favre led Jets stay home.
My worry about Ronnie Brown is that against the texans he didn't get enough touches to make a difference. 2-10 on 3rd down, need I say more!
This is just pure irony and speculation. Of course it COULD happen but i feel its unlikely at this point.
So, you assume he's going to get hurt in game 7 again ?? Actually the only thing you can compare to last year is that his name is the same. This is a different team around him, different staff and different attitude. Last year, this team would have given up at halftime in this game. They would have stopped running Brown by halftime as well. The Texans had a great gameplan that neutralized the DL pressure and took advantage. They did the same things as Arizona..they exposed our weakest link...the secondary...any team that does that will beat us...
It's going to be the Ronnie Brown show next week and he'll blow thru it with a smile and WIN!! I'm worried he won't get 100 yards but the 3 td's will make up for it. How's that for a spin to your worries.Hold my hand and here we go.
No need to worry.. Look at all the top runners. Peterson, Tomlinson, Turner.. Noone in the league is going to have the same games week in and week out. We play different teams, therefore different results. No need to worry about Ronnie. I am confident we will all be happy with the end result. (barring injury)
If everybody remembers correctly, Ronnie hurt his knee on a Cleo Lemon interception... We don't have to worry about Cleo throwing ints this year so lets not worry Ronnie getting hurt because of a bad QB.
I'm not assuming anything. I'm worried. And I clearly pointed out that there is nothing besides what I'm hoping are coincidental similarities in last year to this year to support this worry. The similarities are there. You can't really argue that. They might not mean anything, but they are there. Like I said, i hope I'm worrying about nothing.
I think your just seeing what you want to see. Game 6 this year: Ronnie 13 carries 50 yards, 3 catches 43 yards Game 6 last year: Ronnie 19 carries 101 yards, 9 catches for 69 yards. Actually had a slightly better game then the one prior. I don't see this pattern your seeing. In the 4 games before his injury he was averaging over 100 yards a game and at least 5 catches a game and was on his way to his 5th straight 100 yard game. This year he had 2 100 yard games before falling off rushing wise this game.
I'm not seeing anything I WANT to see. You think I want to see Ronnie's production decline? Of course I don't! I'm not comparing each last year's game totals to this years game totals. I'm comparing the trend of decreased production in back to back to back games before the injury. Definitely a stretch, but it's enough to worry me. Also not comparing rushing or receiving, but overall yards and production from scrimmage. TDs factor too.
