correct me if I'm wrong...but this really isn't that big of a deal is it? all it does is if you tune to a Miami-Baltimore game on the directv channel, but it is on your local CBS affiliate, so therefore blacked out on the directv 7xx channel, it will notfiy you what channel it is on. Not a big deal, since any fan would know if a game is blacked out, to check CBS or FOX. This won't help fans who are blacked out in the miami area if a game isn't sold out
Eaxctly, this doesn't mean NFL Sunday Ticket games are shown to Ticket subscribers if the game is blackedout, so what's the big deal ? However....if you have the Super Fan deal, you can see the game. But it will be on the "game mix" channel, and will share the screen with 7 other games. So it'll be small but viewable.
It's a big deal for me. I live in Connecticut. It might sound like an easy thing to check if the game is being broadcast on the local affiliate, but I often Tivo the game and watch it later in the day. I program Tivo way in advance and I don't always remember to check whether the game is a national game. I've been screwed before where I tape the wrong channel and believe me, that's no fun!
In the past if it was blacked out in Miami, DirecTV wouldn't carry it on Sunday ticket, I guess because they had no way to switch to another station. Now they have a way to switch; I guess to a station from the other teams channel.?. So if you have Sunday ticket in Miami my guess is that you will now be able to see it on DirecTV Black out or no.
Oh okay, I see what you are saying now. But they should have had this ability all along. I've always thought it wrong to penalize Ticket holders with the blackouts.
Yet another reason Suday Ticket is worth the $18.75 a week to see your team. I can't believe people don't have it, it's a no brainer and the best money you'll ever spend.
Is this an automtic update? I never really understood the DTV blackout rules. Im in Jersey, if Miami is blacked out, does/did that mean I wouldnt be able to watch?
weasie is right, DIsh Network doesnt carry the ticket.. Sunday ticket is exclusively direct TV, however, I have heard that Verizon already has the contract when it is up in 2010
I got the directv NFL package the day it came out, and I cannot even think about not having it. I pay my directv bill before I pay my mortgage, gas and electric and car payments each month!
My friend was telling me (who also has DTV) that they send out automatic updates, like cooler channel guides and such, that you download by hooking up your reciever to your router. I havent done it yet but will tonight
the only way a Miami game would be blacked out on directv in Jersey is if it is on the local CBS or FOX affiliate (like when they play the Jets). so all that means for you is that you have to switch to one of those channels to watch the game. This does seem to have some benefit for those who DVR the game, as someone earlier described.
dolpns13 How will they (Verizon) broadcast the games, I know that it's a phone company, are they a cable outlet also???
Hmm, good question.. I have no idea.. They use their fios cables, not the same as cable companies.. How they will broadcast throughout the country into markets where they do not have fios, or where Verizon is not a provider, I dont know.. Maybe they are planning some massive monopolistic takeover
Nope, your reciever is hooked up to a normal phone line, you can get live stats from all games by pushing the red button.
Verizon Fios is a digital TV service that is awesome and I would have it if they had Directv, the picture is outstanding and they keep costs down by giving you a break if you have the internet service, and home and cell service. I have Fios for my PC, but won't do the TV because they don't have the football package. And I have heard nothing about them getting the package, because if they did, they would be telling us.
I do the same thing... When I had my fios installed, the installer told me they already had the contract for 2011 when DTV's is up. Dont know if he know's the difference between night or day so take it for whats it worth. I already had Direct TV at the time so I doubt he was trying to sell me service
I thought DirecTV was signed through something like 2015. Maybe I am wrong, but I thought a new deal was signed this off-season. Anyone have the definitive answer for this ?
NFL Sunday Ticket - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia the end of the 2010 season... Actually, looks like DTV has to past 2010.. so that answers my question to myself... thanks to me.
You have to switch off of your local Cable provider and sign up for the whole TV deal with DirectTV dont you (dish and all right)? And then ask for the DTV NFL package correct?
you can keep your cable provider if you want.. you could just switch the inputs on your tv.. i did that for about 2 years with Time warner and DTV. it was cheap cause i had roomates at the time.. DTV makes you sign at least a 1 year contract so you cany just get it during the season and then cancel...
You don't have to get rid of cable as said earlier, but yes you have to get the dish set up and a contract. They've really made it easier for people to get hooked up they'll come out and do it all for you, and they offer pretty good deals to new subscribers. I remember in the beginning, I bought all the stuff at the store and had to install it all myself.
and if you have any problems (and current DTV subscribers) make sure to call customer retention (a different division of DTV that DTV sales and CS do not want you to know about), not customer service... DTV's customer service the absolute worst i have ever dealt with...
No, I get HD, DVR, and the same channels for $10 less. And I dont have the ticket anyways. Im in SoFla. I thought you guys were talking that if you had normal DirectTV, there would be no local blackout if there was no sell out
My husband and I (living in VA) would always go to a bar that had satellite (after calling to make sure they were showing the Dolphins). If the game was at 4:00pm, we'd get there by NOON to get a good seat (with all the other fans showing up for their 1:00 game). We'd end up being there for HOURS and had a hefty food/bar bill to show for it. I can't promote Sunday Ticket strongly enough if you can swing it -- it absolutely saves you $$$ in the long run -- your own food, "festive beverages" and friends, along with the ability to pause the game "live" when you need to do so... We'll never be without it!
Actually, you can "suspend" your DTV service (literally, that's the term they use) -- we did this two years ago -- and then just reactivate it in time for NFL Sunday Ticket.
You are correct. But now when I set my fantasy teams on DTV,and the game is on a local channel.I don't have to go to the 700's to get player alerts!
